  1. I would not lose confidence either.  I've seen a problem here or there ever so rarely.  The worst I've seen in a year here is a faulty oxygen sensor that left a new customer stranded on an NV200, he was not happy but we fixed him up FAST and got him back on the road immediately.  It's simply inevitable with so many parts on such a complex piece of equipment that a part may fail on a vehicle here or there.......or worse yet you could be hit with recall like so many other brands have had in recent years.

This is definitely the most reliable vehicle in the lineup.....

I'm glad to see you had a good experience at the dealership.  We try very hard to fix up our clients right the first time.

  2. The Titan is probably taking priority on the production line and creating NV delays.

The titan does not run on the same line.

I was able to get a customer a last minute order of four black NV2500 Techs in 4-6 weeks from date of order by modifying existing orders.  I however have am a larger dealership and have a large amount of existing orders to do so.

I'm showing a silver 2016 2500sv tec in stock in my network of 150 stores we own fyi.

  3. I think the Titan XD will probably win this. TT likes brand new truck introductions and has shown quite a few videos. The SEMA (aftermarket) measurement video was interesting.

Still waiting for the SEMA NV.

Regarding NVs, TT's NV averaged 14 mpg. They also had a Sprinter for long term testing, and they were not happy with mpg results. If I recall correctly, it was 16-17 mpg. Take this, NV's price advantage, towing (this impressed the SMB Ford guys) and all the truck qualities... Maybe TT will get around to a van comparison.

I haven't read the article and don't know what model sprinter your talking about but that mpg figure on the sprinter would be well low of what any of my customers got.  Even the 3500 dually was 20mpg.

It's just not worth the hassle though for diesel.  In Chicago I had a printed list of gas stations brands in Illinois that customers "should" go to and "should not" go to.  Bad diesel is prolific in the midwest, specifically Illinois.  Was so bad in the country, and among other issues, Mercedes stopped importing diesels into the country a few years back for all vehicles but the sprinter.

I could make a very very strong argument for a diesel 10 years ago for almost any van buyer but now it's a real hard argument all buyers, with possibly the exception of a fed ex vehicle or long distance courier.  I would not buy diesel right now, but that's just me.

This is why I do not think we see a Cummins NV.  But who knows.

  4. I had my hands on the new titan last week.  I was never impressed with the picture of the van (edit: silly me, vans on the brain...TRUCK) and had low expectations from a looks standpoint.  I must say, in person it looks very nice.  Interior was beautiful.  Didn't even sound like a diesel.

We have had decent interest in it to date.  We will see how it pans out!

  5. i will tell you that some inline fans can make some noise.  However, what you suggest seems feasible.

Only thing I will say.....and this is coming from tinkerer who can't leave his hands off of anything, and genuinely thinks I can always come up with a better design.....

When the overwhelming majority of people do things a certain way there is probably a reason for it.  In this case I couldn't say what that reason is but I'd sure bet there is one.

Being this requires permanent modification I personally would find another project to re engineer.

  6. Good morning!!  The sonar off switch has always been there.  As for the front sonar I could not say, have not seen a 2016, but I have seen it listed on documents.  That is odd.

  7. John, I get better than that with my demo's as well.  I'm a bit confused on who you would sue, I to advise you to talk to the GM.  If someone asks me about gas mileage my standard response is 7-20mpg.  It all depends on what your using it for and how you drive.  Unloaded on my v6 demo I get waaaay better than 11.  However I drive it very easy in town and on the highway.

The bottom line is your driving a full framed box, have you seen the size of the components under the vehicle?  Your dependability and lack of unplanned visits to the dealership (lost income sitting there waiting if your using this for work) will more than make up for any gas deficit you'd have vs a diesel in a competitor product.

And FYI, fords ecoboost engine has been a MPG flop.  and dodge, well I won't go there.

You are driving the lowest cost of ownership van on the market.

I am however sorry you feel duped by your salesperson, that would not be a feel good for me either.

  8. Where do you live that you are so concerned about rust?  An area that uses salt and or literally on the ocean??

If you're in a salt area there is literally nothing you can do.  Rust is going to happen and it's only a matter of when.  If you get a door ding and are missing a speck of paint that can be enough for the cancer to start.  The best thing you can do, is try to keep it clean, which means spraying it down after a snow.  For the undercarriage, there is very very little you can do, try to keep it clean as well.  There is a lot of snake oil out there, don't buy it.  Wheels, I would always rub down with motor oil when clean and would have positive results.

If you are in a salt area and drive winters for the next 5 years your going to be rusty on the underside, nothing you can do my friend.

  10. You know I am happy you finally got into it after what you went through, sorry that it went the direction I thought it would.

Make sure to keep us updated of pics and your travels!!!

and, if your ever rolling through the area I am right off the highway, you better stop in and say hi!  Go to lunch for BBQ and Fried pickles  :)

You have my #, you need a question answered in a pinch text or call.

  11. I've never seen an off the shelf kit.  You can however find a ton of air bases, shouldn't be very hard for you to work something up.  Another source of info would be to google "van upfitter".  See who comes up in your area and give a call.  They should be a wealth of knowledge.
