New 2016 NV Passenger Owner
Chris Dempsey replied to Jeremie Conley's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
My NV hightop IS actually used commercially, but has not been insured as such. I pay about as much as I did for my old Ford E-250: $750 every six months. I’ve done some upgrades to the interior, so to cover those, I will have to change to commercial coverage, which will only cost about $160 more per year. -
Can’t go incognito anywhere in a hi-top NV!

2016 or 17 meetup/gathering... Missouri?

Still interested in a meet up . . . -
Someone else posted a pic of an exhaust fan mounted in/on one of his rear doors. Don’t quite recall the particulars, but they also wanted to avoid a roof mount. FYI, I installed Fan-tastic vent in my roof and really haven’t noticed an increase in the noise level. It does move a TON of air, however.

Question about reliability of NV3500
Chris Dempsey replied to Joey Bailey's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
I have a 2014 Hi roof V6 that I bought a year ago. Haven’t been back to the dealer since I bought it. Not a single problem. My last new vehicle had about a dozen defects -- several were never fixed. So, if initial quality is any indicator of long-term reliability, should do well. I paid 28K for mine, out the door. It’s a 6-cyl, not an eight, and I don’t have the chrome pkg, but it has everything else. Great vehicle. -
NV3500 HD, Rattle Trap, Reflectix, Ford Transit bench seats

Wollip - that looks great! How did you cut the hardboard to fit so well? Did you make a pattern?- 15 replies

I asked the same last winter - no replies. Hopefully, someone will have tried them and will respond. In the interim, I use an electric heating pad plugged into the 120V outlet in the center console.

2016 or 17 meetup/gathering... Missouri?

I would definitely be interested in either location. I live in SE Michigan, so either location would work. Were you thinking Northern Lower peninsula or the Upper peninsula? -
Hey Mike- Fan-Tastic Vent 6000RBTA Off White Automatic Vent Sold by: Amazon.com LLC$232.60. I picked the 12V three speed, rain-sensor, auto-open. It really is a great fan. I was a bit concerned about cutting into a brand new vehicle, but I made sure to prime everything and used stainless bolts and really good sealant. So far, no issues, no leaks. I have a 2K inverter w/ 120V available, but I didn’t want to have to power it up every time I wanted to use the fan. Also, I would have switched the fan differently knowing what I know now. I’ll elaborate if you get the fan.

Hopefully that works for you. I wasn’t sure about adding a fan, but I really appreciate my Fantastic fan. Easy to install and relatively inexpensive. How much time/how often are you going to spending in your truck?

Any one doing Running Boards, Steps or Nerf Bars?
Chris Dempsey replied to Darren's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Hey Chris, If you can find any info, please let me know. Specifically, I need a step for the cargo side door area. Long or short doesn’t really matter. Also, I wonder if anyone has installed a retractable, motorhome-style step that stores up and away below the vehicle? -
Thanks for the pic’s, laharview. Please keep them coming. Are you installing a vent fan in the roof?
-
This is the inverter. As was mentioned, it’s at the rear of the driver’s side, just in front of the actual receptacle. If you have a fiberboard panel on the side, you’ll have to remove it to access the inverter. --Just saw this pic is sideways. If you want more pics, go to NV Cargo Pics in the Photo Gallery of this site.

I’ve had a few “8 hour” jobs like that. I’ve also had the 5 minute jobs that turned into 8-hour jobs. Hard to find the balance sometimes. The insulation looks super clean. Nice job. Is the conduit for future wire fishing, or do you have immediate plans for it?

I rarely see NV’s around metro Detroit/SE Michigan. That may be because a lot of folks still try to buy “American” around here. Interestingly, I worked on a job where another tradesman had a HR 2012 Cargo. It was unusual, and maybe unprecedented around here, to see two NV’s side by side. Very few NVP’s, a few low top cargos and a few HT’s, including the local Suburu dealer’s parts truck. The sales guys I dealt with last November were TOTALLY clueless -- knew almost nothing about the NV. Hopefully, that has changed.

I was going to replace the wipers on my daughter’s Civic when I found out they were $40 +\-. Didn’t happen.

Ha - it was. The truck was still pretty new when I cut that hole and the hole in the roof. It’s for an electrical inlet to charge my “house” batteries. Check out the photo album “NV Cargo”, there are more pics.
