What have you done to your NV van lately?

Dang they look mean and awesome. And if they have prevented snow so far, they are working perfect!;)

 

I'm a certified snow-tire snob, but just a word of caution; tires like that are great for shoveling snow, but with so few "sipes" they are not good on ice, at all.

 

But I'd gladly buy a set if they kept Michigan snow free!

My wife did not like how NV drove in snow. I guess her AWD Sienna spoiled her. I am not planning to convert it to 4x4, so we changed out the tires. We went with GY DuraTrac 245/75/17 instead of 245/70/17. The van definitely is higher now. I am anxious to see how they do. Haven't had a winter storm since we change the tires.

 

I was pleasantly surprised with my Hankook AT-M's in slushy snow.  Andy is right that without siping they wont work well on ice but those should do great in slush or hardpack snow.

Agreed with expert opinions. Compared to dedicated snow/ice tires (which have tons of siping), DuraTrac's siping is quite modest. But they are a lot more than Nitto Trail Grappler on my Tundra (which basically has none).

 

DuraTrac was a compromise for us. My wife did not want to switch out tires every season. She does not drive on ice. But she does drive on snow. Since we got the tires, it hasn't snowed at all. It was snowing earlier today and I got excited to finally try the tires out in snow. But it stopped snowing. Just my luck, haha.

I don't have these on my NV yet but I run them on my Nissan Frontier. They (kooks pf10 at-m) perform well in sandy wash areas and overall desert environment too. I too was pleasantly surprised. They are on the list for the NV for certain

I added a bed inside with 3" foam and a Koolatron P85 Krusader arrived just today for it, YIPPEEE!! I'll post pics when I get it installed. (Maybe a week or two)

Over my Christmas vacation:

  • Added Step bars
  • Covered the whole floor with diamond tread pattern rubber flooring.  Went over top of the carpet.
  • Upgraded all speakers and added a amplifier
  • Added brake light bar

 

That was about 2 full days worth of work... :)

Now I have some experience driving on DuraTrac, I have to say it made a dramatic difference in snow/ice. We have unpaved driveway. The entrance gets piled up with plowed snow (form city plowers). So this piles effectively becomes ice piles. NVP with DuraTrac did not even spin going over these. Now my wife is not afraid to drive the van in winter. (She is overly afraid of snow/ice. She's from Virginia)

Hey all.  Bought my 2016 about a month ago,  It was a Nissan area rep demo and only had 7k on it.  Since then, I have...

 

-dynamatted every door and panel ( not the ceiling or floor but all sides and doors)  

-dipped the mirrors, grille, handles, bumpers, and emblems.

-added Tekonsha p3 brake controller lower right dash 

- 20in Moto Metal wheels and Bridgestone discoverer tires ( 0 degrees offsett so had to shim the slider with a few washers to fit)

 

Pending install.. ( purchased but haven't put in yet)  this weekend

- 4 rockville headrest screens

- pioneer nex 4200 head unit

- upgraded rear view cam

- front view camera

Dipped grille,bumper, mirrors

dipped emblems

Lack of cargo mat was puzzling to me (since Nissan offered the floor mats for the first four rows. Since I keep one two-seat unit off 99 % of the time, I wanted some mats for cargo space. I could find absolutely zero item for our Nissan NV. I ordered rubber mats (4'x7'--1/4" thick) and just cut it to fit the cargo area. Not pretty, but it will serve the purpose.

Dustin, this is a late post. Did you get your airtabs?

 

We have these airtabs. Everyone with a hightop needs these!!
When a big truck passes, unless I see it coming in my rearview mirror,
I don't even know he is there until I see him next to me.
These work great...

Those are interesting but the theory on their design is solid.  I have a 10' long roof rack creating massive drag on my NV so these probably wont help the NV but they may help my Toyhauler.

Our roof rack is loaded with solar panels, an air vent, and now our awning...

 

I drive her most all the time on highways and narrow byways, and I would not want

to be without them.  They work. I don't feel the tug and sway the big rigs cause. 

They even help in keeping the dirt from swirling up on the backdoors...

1.  New 20" wheels and Nitto Grapplers

2.  Stainless Bull Bar

3.  LED light bar

4.  Aluminum Ladder on driver side

5. Aluminum full size top luggage rack

6.  BEAST put everywhere Nissan used to be (no offense, but I don't like to advertise)

7.  N&N air filter

8.  Exhaust pipe

9.  Limo Tint

10.  Rear stand bar in hitch

11.  Fog light in rear

12.  Running bars both sides

13.  Pulled out all interior and installed noise dampering and rattle sound proofing.

14.  Installed fishing pole holders on ceiling

15.  Ran electrical and phone charging cords throughout interior.

16.  Installed fog lights on bull bar

17.  Installed logo  The BEAST everywhere and got license plate BEAST

 

Otherwise, just a few other things but that's it...

Switched our van back to its summer tires (stock Firestone’s) this week. At almost 60,000 miles I decided to bleed the brakes and fill it with new fluid. The electric brake booster sure made that easy.... for the rear wheels I just had the wife push the brake pedal to the floor, I cracked the bleeder valve on the caliper, and it pumped a constant stream until I saw the new fluid. Easy-peasy!
