Great White Posted August 20, 2016 Has anyone tried to use a secondary AC for camping? Just moved back to Texas. The heat is going to be a problem. I thought about using the small ac unit put out by Aliner. I would have to use a large generator or two smaller ones in series because I want to boondock. Any suggestions or successes? Thanks guys. Edgar Posted August 20, 2016 I'm still in the planning stage and don't even own a van (yet), but the way I'm leaning right now is powering a 5k to 8k BTU window unit (cheap) with a small Honda Inverter generator. Alot of the Ford van guys are doing this in the rear door. I think the NV would require the AC exhaust out the sidewall. 2nd choice would be powering a small mini-split AC system using the same type generator. Pioneer is one brand I've seen fairly cheap on Amazon.
Great White Posted August 21, 2016 Thanks for the info.It would be nice if we had a longer wheel base to work with like a sprinter or Chevy. More space, more options, but I think we have a better van. The AC issue is always a problem. Thanks again.
