My 2017 change requests

Recommended Posts

Yeah maybe too late; but it could still happen for the 2018 model:

The armrest is too high.  Get someone who is 6'4" and has long arms and have them sit there.  It makes my shoulder hurt if I use it.  I have to keep my arm in a raised position to be able to use it.

Do away with the CD player in the base radio and add either or both a USB port and Bluetooth.  Using the line in jack with an Iphone is tedious.

How about let customers order any window placement they want?  One rear door window instead of two?  A window on one side only?  Should be able to do that.

Should seriously consider doing up an electric model.  Put one or two Leaf packs in it.  I would have bought my current NV as electric had it been available.

An upgraded security lock for the back door would be nice.  Also plexiglass windows as an option.  If my two front windows weren't made of glass; that would be a huge boost for vehicle security.

Maybe even consider doing a version of the vehicle that is low to the ground.  Some applications would prefer that.

I'm really surprised Nissan doesn't offer a cutaway version of the vehicle to the RV market. Or offer an enclosed cab with exposed rear frame rails for applications that want that.

I've owned a lot of vehicles and this one is by far the most useful vehicle of them all.  Pure utility and function.  Just such a machine.  I enjoy driving it everyday.

The general public doesn't know:

The NV is built in Canton Mississippi.

Is based off the Titan(hence the truck front end).

Is on a full frame(IE, a real frame).

4 wheel drive?  Diesel?

I still think and feel this vehicle should be marketed more along the lines of the old full size Blazer and Bronco or even Suburbans.  It seems more like those vehicles then it does a traditional van.  A van to me was what it was because of that dog house the engine was in.  The promaster/transit are more minivan like in their construction.

The NV should be marketed as a complimentary vehicle to the TItan.  Like the Tacoma/4 Runner. More of an SUV or enclosed version of the truck.

Funny request, but how about a mirror on at least the passenger side visor.

A flip down change holder(like the ashtrays of old) over by the side mirror controls.

Auto-on headlights like Toyota.  I really like not having to turn them off all the time.  Also, auto up and down on the front windows.

Running boards standard.

These are all minor things honestly.  They are already improving MPG on the new model, so I didn't bother with that.

On the SL model:

-upgrade the plastic door armrests and console to a nicer feel.  Hard plastic is just not comfortable.

-Running boards should be standard on this model

-Driver controllable rear lights

-True premium wheels.  The chrome wheels are still a steel wheel with some soft of permanent chrome hub-cap

-Optional Power sliding door

-4 rear speakers rather than 2

On all models

-Auto headlights

-optional running boards

-the sliding console top slides too easily

-Mirror on both visors

-7' is a hard stop for many home and parking garages.  It would be great if there was a lowered suspension option or it was something like 6'10" standard.  I highly doubt anything like this would be done but it is so close....

I'd like to have some more short seat track covers included, so I can cover the mounting points for the 4th row.

Also, the rear view mirror is useless when all the seats are installed with their headrests, so I'd like to replace it with a full-time rear view camera that would be mounted above the rear doors.

And I'd like a switch in the front for the driver to override the passenger light switches.  It would have four settings: off, auto, on, or passenger controlled.

Keyless ignition. I get tired of cranking this thing up. Ever drive a Prius? Just jump in and go.

No gas cap. Look at the way Ford does it.

I still think since this is a low volume vehicle; they should use it as a test platform and put a full electric drive in it to later offer in their trucks and SUV's.

It would be nice to be able to sit there with the AC or heater on and not have the noisy engine and smelly exhaust going. That's one thing electric enables. Also ends the hassle of going to gas stations and doing oil changes.

I'd like to have an insulation package to make the heater work better in the winter and the AC to work better in the summer.  Also to quiet the sound of rain on the roof.

Also would like for the exhaust to be more quiet at idle.

Apple Car Play would be nice as the base radio.
