pcurado Posted July 20, 2012 I have a 2012 with tech package which includes Navi, but the maps are from 2010. Anybody else have the same thing, and is there a way to get upgraded maps?
lvidave Posted September 16, 2012 The maps are on a SD card mounted on the front of the head unit. I just seen the 2013 maps available online for $149. 1 coando reacted to this
tech97elec Posted February 26, 2013 I just got mine 2 mos. ago and the map is dated March 2011. The latest upgrade I found is Aug. 2012. I tried to get Nissan to upgrade my SD map chip for free, they told me to contact the dealer, that the dealer was supposedd to stay on top of this (right!). Then called the dealer....sales manager, he said that I would have to buy!!! NOT! Called Nissan again and they are going to get back to me...started a case. (make sure you call Nissan Commercial). I'm waiting....kinda ridiculous to buy a new van and they expect me to pay for a chip that should have been upgraded ...no question!
pcurado Posted February 26, 2013 I ended up contacting Nissan Commercial and they told me the same thing, and dealer said same thing. The company I work for Got 3 of these vans total for now, so I called Nissan Commercial back again, and also explained to them that the GPS units that are in the Commercial vehicles are for cars not for commercial vehicles, and that in my state there are roads that commercial vehicles can not be on or their fined. I checked into it and called me back 3 days later and told me there was nothing they could do about the units in the vans, and not being really designed for commercial vehicles, but they told me I could go out and buy any GPS system that I wanted up to $500 per van and they would pay for them. I ended up getting Rand Mcnally GPS designed for commercial vehicles, which they paid for, so now have 2 GPS's in the van. Not ideal but at least they did something. tech97elec Posted February 27, 2013 Nissan commercial called me back today...only one day... very good. They told me to purchase the updat from Navitech and they will re-imburse me. Sounded fair to me, so that's what I'll do. Nissan Commercial btw, is very easy and pleasant to speak to. I didn't hold too llong and the two ladies I spoke with were helpful. I never got that from Ford.
RICK Posted January 9, 2015 Spoke to them yesterday about my 2014 that I purchased on 12/30/14 and it has a 2012 sd nav card in it. Not to mention the gps, bluetooth and entertainment center is a joke. While on bluetooth, I can't access the map screen. The bluetooth sounds like a tin can according to the people I called. And who the heck is going to scroll 1 name at a time on the phone book. Honestly the raido, gps and bluetooth is worse than a 2000 model year first generation unit. My cell phone and portable gps unit blows away the factory $1000.00 nissan unit. Nissan should be embarassed by installing this garbage in a $35,000 vehicle. Rick. radin2son Posted May 27, 2015 (edited) Did everyone, 2015 owners excepted (maybe), get their letter offering the 2015 maps upgrade for $50 off? Still see no reason to buy this, unless there are hidden improvements as in software upgrade. Still waiting to hear from NV owners who installed Apple CarPlay and whether or not this is an improvement. Anyone using Android Auto? radin2son Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) I took a look at the "how to post" and brake controller photo by ASD Dad and noticed the Nav screen showed a much more expansive view than what I get when using Nav. I believe ASD Dad has a 2015 NVP. If this is the difference between the 2015 and 2012 cards, then I will order the updated card. On the other hand, if this view is already available on the 2012 card/software and I am too challenged to bring it up, then it is back to the manual/DVD. Actually, it was back to our NV. I can expand the Nav view to I mile. The 1 mile view in the photo looks different; maybe it is the blue fade or is that clouds? The one feature I would like is a map overview of the route when it is first calculated Edited June 8, 2015 by radin2son
RICK Posted June 8, 2015 Yes his is a 2015 built in March. They did an upgrade for 2015. Still waiting on a resolution from last Mondays call to Nissan Commercial and the dealership. 1 week and nothing yet. Rick.
ASD Dad Posted June 8, 2015 RICK is correct, mine was built in March 2015. Nav works really well as a Nav unit, I like the rerouting when XM traffic detects an issue. I had that save me twice already from being stuck in bumper to bumper traffic due to an accident. The BT phone integration leaves much to be desired but it works... (sort of). RICK Posted June 9, 2015 Does the bluetooth phone recognize your voice and dial the correct name/ number? Can you look up names in the navs phone book and scroll? Or does it do it 1 name at a time starting with the letter A only by voice and no way to scroll any faster than 1 at a time by voice? Does it have caller id by name that's already entered into its phone book? Does the nav work while on the bluetooth phone, or does it just show you the phone number and duration? Hopefully they made improvements to 2015 nav unit that the 2014 and older nav systems are lacking. Rick.
ASD Dad Posted June 9, 2015 Rick - No NAV while BT is active for a call. Annoying. BT voice recognition works fairly well. I can tell it to call my mom or friends and it gets their name right most of the time. It then brings up all their associated numbers and I need to pick one. Havent tried looking up a name, I know who I am calling! Nobody has called me yet but it does show the name for texts that come in and it will read them aloud if I want. RICK Posted June 19, 2015 It appears that the nav sd card for a cargo is different than for a passenger van according to the Nissan site when you enter your vehicle info. Why? same model year van but different sd card part. On the Nissan site, the sd card in the passenger van also updates the software, but not on the cargo van. Why? My local dealer service manager claims there is nothing newer than a 2012 sd card. of course we all know the service managers don't know as much as we do. Nissan commercial customer service doesn't know who to believe. me who can easily send them the link or the dealer who is winging it with no personal knowledge of my vehicle. Bluetooth compatibility list only shows 2012 model year. nothing newer to check to see if a phone will work. Nissan doesn't stay ontop of their own websites for these issues. Rick Very frustrating dealing with 2 different parties.

Caller ID works on Bluetooth (NAV screen) when they are in my phone book, otherwise just number shows up NAV DOES work while on a BT call. If I am on a route it shows the turns and distance with small icons on the right side of the screen. Generic maps do not work, only if I have a route in and I am on it. It does recognize name and number when calling out quite well. I have not had to search yet so dont know about the scrolling.
RICK Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the feedback. your's being a 2015 has an updated nav system. so i know they made some improvements. Sounds like your caller id works with any number in your phone. mine only works on the outgoing calls. Sounds like your bluetooth voice dialer works properly. If you have an opportunity, can you try to search by name or scroll. does it work better than mine? Rick Edited June 23, 2015 by RICK
ASD Dad Posted June 23, 2015 I'll have to try the search. Caller ID works with any inbound call. If they are in my contacts book their name shows up. If they are not just the number pops up. Outbound it shows the name and number of person I am calling (I think..)
