JackMan Posted November 14, 2017 Hey there, I have quick question before I commit to buying one of these 3rd brake cameras, First off, awesome photos! Can I integrate this camera to the stock NV head unit? Or is this specifically an aftermarket piece that requires an aftermarket head unit? I would like to remove my factory camera by the license plate, and hook up the camera signal to the original harness. Any idea if this works?Thank you for your time :)

Ambulock Posted November 16, 2017 JackMan, I honestly don’t know if that will work or not. I have been wanting to find out if it is possible to hook some type of dashcam to it.
JackMan Posted November 17, 2017 I'm bet you could hook up an old laptop for it to record to. Thanks for getting back to me! I am now wondering if I should just try to relocate/retrofit the stock camera.... :headscratch:
Wezard Posted April 9, 2018 I can tell you that the Rear View Safety 3rd brake light camera is NOT suitable for a full time rear view. It's just barely adequate as a back up camera. If you adjust so you can see hitch ball, you see about 8 feet behind you. Thats on a high top. If you adjust all the way up, you can see maybe 15 feet, but nothing directly behind you. Their 3 camera monitor with switcher is nice, you can put the switcher out of the way somewhere and only one cable to the windshield through the head liner. tboy353 Posted April 15, 2018 I totally agree with Wezard's comment about the Rear View Safety Third brake light camera. It works but I am very disappointed on how far back it shows, as he stated, maybe 15-20 feet and that is it. Nothing any further back. I am trying to see if I can figure out a way to tilt thecamera further up to see more of what is behind me. It may work ok on a high top but on a standard van, it is very disappointing. TinyStudio Posted April 17, 2018 you're best off leaving the stock rear camera hooked up to the head unit I couldn't Trace which wires go into the head unit I'm replacing my rear view mirror with one that has two built-in monitors one will be for the travel trailer when I'm towing it and the other one will be a front view so I know where the nose is
DesertTed Posted June 15, 2018 Hi, I was wondering now that you're had the camera for a while what do you think of it? What model/manufacturer is it, and where did you get it. Thanks.
