NV 3500 dead no crank

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!  My name is Joe and I have a 2016 NV3500 high top that I use for my plumbing business.  My van has been flawless up until this point.  Im a stickler for maintenance and replaced my battery about 3 weeks ago.  Van has 29,000 miles on it

Yesterday while pulling into the parking lot to pickup my daughter the van shut off before I was done parking.  I put it in park and tried to restart it to no avail.  I get dome lights, radio and gauge cluster to come on (only shows parking status) and when I go to start the van  everything goes blank.  No click, no crank can’t even here a relay noise.
I cleaned up my battery terminals when I did the battery swap as they were pretty crusty.
checked all the main fuses and the ones in the fuse box and they’re all good.  Anyone ever have a similar issue?

Seems like the Titans had this exact scenario a while back but it was fixed with a new updated fuse board which I seem to have .  Thanks for the help in advance !

Hi Aztec!  No crank even with a booster pack.  Trickle charged the battery last night and was showing 12.7-12.9 volts this am.  Just like it’s a total disconnect from the next step of actually starting the van.  It’s headed to an NV dealer now.  Hope it’s something simple.....I’ll keep you guys posted

Just an update, heard from Nissan service manager this am.  The van keeps popping a 20 amp fuse that controls the ECM, heater controls and a few other things.  No rhyme or reason as to when it does it.  Did it on the tech after putting his foot on the brake to try and back it out for a test drive.  No forward motion as of now unfortunately.

I read that the older gen Titans and Frontiers had issues with the IPDM that caused very similar issues.  But my NV has the updated one that corrected the old issues of corroded connectors due to engine vapors.  Just grasping at air at this point.

That’s possible.  The upfit was done before I even received the truck new from the dealer by their Adrian Steel install company.

Just an update, my van still keeps blowing a 10 amp fuse (not a 20 as I thought) that controls the ECM, heater controls and a bunch of other things on it that could be just used for a signal (according to the Nissan tech).

As of yesterday the service manager said they had a call into Nissan corporate and were trying to drive the van (if even possible) with a laptop hooked up to try and catch something happening when the van shuts down.

Last time they tried they were able to get it out of the service bay and to the end of the dealership driveway before it died again randomly.  I’ll update when I have good news.....hopefully soon
