Cargo Mat flooring

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I just purchased a new NV for a conversion that I will be living out of full time. (I am currently in my starter van, a 1995 Chevy G20 which I built out.) Has anyone left the factory cargo mat in there and just installed their subfloor over that? I was wondering if what is under the plastic is insulation. It looks like regular old carpet padding underneath but maybe there is more than meets the eye...

Smart.  I did the same when I built my conversion, 1/2 polyiso and 1/2 plywood.  I did not like the look of the factory under layer … thought it would retain moisture.

Recently vanlifers began sending weekly emails. NVs have appeared, at least in photos. They may be a good source for diy info.

I haven’t taken the time to read their topics.

Deleted last email but did look for a link to learn more. The only link I found was related to “monetary” support.

I think it was VanLifers.com

Next email I receive I’ll look at it closer.

Another email. Clicked on first topic and sent to vanlifers.com

Articles aren’t NV specific as near as I can tell. Mostly photos with general, how to camper van topics.

vanlifers.com has a new article, “Why I chose a Nissan NV 2500 for van life.” Good read with a video.
