NV Guide Posted July 13, 2015 The Nissan NV Forum has two anti-spammer tools, however, despite best efforts, sometimes spammers still get through. Here's a breakdown of how many spammers we caught attempting to get into the site during the past few months (June/July 2015): If you find spam on this site OR other objectionable content, here's how to report it in one easy step! ^ Hover your mouse over the ghost "Report" link - ^ Click on the "Report" link and file the report and we will investigate. radin2son Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) I mainly use the mobile version, which doesn't enable reporting spam. It is easy enough to switch to the "full version." Edited July 13, 2015 by radin2son
radin2son Posted August 5, 2016 Starting to get spam posts. Both on intro thread.

radin2son Posted July 5, 2017 What is the point of have a moderator or "guide," if objectionable posts are not removed? In reality, there doesn't appear to be anyone home.., 1 TanStewie reacted to this
TanStewie Posted July 5, 2017 The lights are on but nobody's home. Spam posts have been on here for weeks. Is there only one moderator? How do we get a new one
radin2son Posted July 5, 2017 Same admin was "active" this morning... nothing accomplished.
radin2son Posted July 6, 2017 This no longer is a problem with the spammer and/or creative troll; rather, it is a problem with the moderator/guide. This normally is very quiet forum but it is hard not to notice the almost complete absence of forum posts. I agree with those not posting... According to the initial post on July 13, 2015, "reports" are investigated. Well?
Robert Posted July 8, 2017 Hi, all. I am a new moderator here and would LOVE to have some help with this site! If you'd like to help moderate it and make suggestions as to additions and changes, please PM me
TanStewie Posted July 8, 2017 Right on Robert thank you!
radin2son Posted July 8, 2017 Welcome. Thank you for removing the spammer and/or troll. Why would you decline info regarding your vehicle? It doesn't much matter what you drive, but it might give some insight... What help do you need? I have no idea what goes on behind the home page. This has been a trouble free site that rarely has negative posts and most trolls get ignored and apparently move on. Spammers periodically are a problem perhaps because the filter or whatever works. andy_george Posted July 8, 2017 What makes a person a moderator? Who decides? Isn't it often an active member of the forum?
Robert Posted July 9, 2017 What makes a person a moderator? Who decides? Isn't it often an active member of the forum? It should indeed be an active member of the community, which is why help is needed.
ASD Dad Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) I was a mod for years on other sites including vehicles (a couple car sites and a truck site). You do need to be active but it depends on the site. On some sites you can be a mod of just one sub-forum and still get hammered with 100+ posts a day to weed through. On slower sites or highly specialized sites you can be a full forum mod and still only deal with 15-20 posts a day. I am guessing this site would lean towards the latter! It is good to have redundant mods as well so one person does not get overwhelmed or if they cant make it to their computer for a while - sick, vacation, just need a break, etc. Normally there is a "Head" admin/Super Mod who controls the whole site. Then there are sub-mods who can also control the whole site or just certain forums. The head mod can do things like ban a member from posting vs. a sub-mod. A sub-mod can do things like delete posts, warn about banning, etc. they just cant outright delete the member. Day to day stuff would be reading posts, deleting/editing objectionable content (swear words, NSFW stuff, etc), delete spam posts and things like that. On large forums we had specialized mods in the sub forums. I raced and wrenched on my car a lot so I was a sub-mod in the racing/performance forum. We had others who were specialists in the audio/video forum. Others who were paint and detailing experts in that forum and on it goes. On this forum? I really think you just need a couple sub-mods who can weed out the spam and/or objectionable content that pops up or any arguments. I'll send you a PM. I am not nearly as active as Mr Rad is but I am normally around! Edited July 17, 2017 by ASD Dad 2 TanStewie and radin2son reacted to this
radin2son Posted July 17, 2017 ASD Dad, thanks for the post.
ASD Dad Posted July 24, 2017 Robert has not been on this site since July 12th. He still hasnt read either of my PM's. I know this site doesnt get a ton of traffic but at least check in on it once a week if you are the mod! I guess there really is not that much to mod here, even over a week there are not many posts and the spam seems to come in bursts where we get hit for a couple days and then nothing for weeks. 2 radin2son and TanStewie reacted to this
