wollip Posted May 5, 2016 And yet you keep it. I can see how your low usage makes it hard to justify the $ hit of a trade in. But when gas returns to $4 and above I think you'll wish you had traded it earlier.
RICK Posted May 6, 2016 But the question still is why such a big swing between some getting great mileage and some terrible mileage? I'm using my sprinter more and more as the mileage is better than 2x the NV. Both city and highway and is carrying more weight. Rick.
wollip Posted May 6, 2016 Something is obviously wrong - but will it ever be found?
breeze Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) If you want gas mileage, get the high roof since it's drag coefficient is less (about 4 mpg more for high roof - it is not coincidence that all the high roof owners report significantly better mileage!) From riding a motorcycle, the wind beats the road directly behind a low station wagon-like vehicle like clapping hands. The extra height cargo ban resembles the spoilers on tractor trailer trucks, and the extra height must smooth the wind drag from behind the vehicle out. The low roofs look like an $80K luxury SUV, but if you want gas mileage (and have an 9' garage door), get the high roof cargo van. The 2500 v8 high roofs ride like a large luxury car in smoothness. Check out the drag coefficient (DC or CD) in Nissan specs in 2017 NV Press Kit (Specs in 3rd column, tab/roll 3/4's way down spec list: http://nissannews.com/en-US/nissan/usa/presskits/us-2017-nv-cargo-van-press-kit Edited February 4, 2017 by breeze
Ferrugenfish Posted October 17, 2017 Just for reference, if it helps, I have a high roof 2013 Nissan NV 2500 HD V6 and calculating at the pump, I'm averaging 13.75 mpg not even carrying much... just emergency roadside equipment and maybe an air compressor or some boards of wood or something... or cases ofshotgun shells. I'm not happy with this either... was looking into aftermarket air intake/exhaust options to maybe help it. Let me know if you find any of those! I think I'm going to try to just buy a K&N air intake kit for the 2013 Xterra (looks to be the same motor and physically the intake looks the same... crossing fingers? chris_columbia Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) High roof v6 getting 18.7, 18.9, 18.7 mpg calculated at the pump last 3 fill ups, mostly highway. Mostly empty too. Edited April 11, 2019 by chris_columbia
radin2son Posted April 11, 2019 Another blast from the past... Where are they now? RICK certainly had the worst V8 mpg and complained the most. Wonder if he parked his NV and went with a Transit.
