New tobacco metallic 3500 NVP

Recommended Posts

Hello van people!! Just traded my 2005 Ford Excursion 4x4 V10 gas. It was running great at 205K but the interior was shot (seats stained and torn, seat belts would not unwind and get tangled, struts to back window done). She was a tough war horse. Im sad but it was time. If I had a ranch I would have kept her.

The NV sold me on the spot. Drives almost the same, a foot or so longer and way taller roof. Power is good as my ford was getting sluggish at 200k and the titan V8 feels good. At speed the wind resistance is noticeably more when trying to go from 75 to say 85mph. Love the big mirrors, seats are really nice and the tech passage was a sorely needed upgrade(the excursion still had a cassette deck!!)

The towing of 8700 lbs is a bit less then my excursion but my 24 foot race car trailer is gone to be replaced someday by a fifth wheel.

The price is a homerun for what you get.  Have a friend with a MB/sprinter who spent twice as much.

Nissan is the king of value from the versa to the 370Z all of which I have owned.

Looking forward to my first of many family road trips next week.

Anyone have any info on bugs or glitches on the NV?

Welcome to the forum.  A NVP and a Volt are quite the combo in the driveway!

We were looking at used Excursions before buying our NVP.  My truck couldnt hold the family any longer so we needed more space.  A good, used Excursion cost more than a new NVP!  No thanks.  We love our NVP so far and I am averaging just around 1800 miles a month with our trips added in to the mix and have several long tows with it.  Family loves it and it drives really well for a big box!

There seems to be a possible glitch with the climate control.  I dont know if you have the SV or SL.  Mine doesnt have it but several have reported it.  I had some QC issues but they were all handled by the dealer.  Dealers can be few and far between so if you plan on taking long trips you may want to look a couple up along the route.  Nissan Commercial Customer service (phone and email) used to be Terrible!  Not sure if they got better or not, it is a totally different division of Nissan consumer cars and trucks.  Doesnt matter if you have the P version, you still have to talk to Commercial service.

Hey....Welcome!!  If you need anything contact your commercial manager who sold you the vehicle first.

No real bugs to speak or anything normal to expect.  Some people on here will complain about rear sonar related things but honestly I've never had a single client have an issue.

Enjoy your new vehicle, it will bring you years of GREAT service.

Welcome. The front, not the rear, sensors were a problem for some, particularly if you have a front plate/holder.

Other problems seem to be isolated. In my case, emissions sensor in the charcoal canister came loose after 36K warranty expired but Nissan NV reimbursed the cost for fixing it. Had to appeal this through their customer affairs. It was a challenge. Another owner had the camshaft sensor fail with disastrous effects on the catalytic converter. Under warranty and Nissan dealt with this appropriately.

In our travels, we have had service at Nissan commercial dealers all over the place. Very positive. There was a time that car manufactuers gave you a pamphlet of all dealers The modern version in cellular dead zones is a similar document on my iPhone for areas we plan to travel. Eventually, I may have a complete list...

Be sure to post where you take your NV for service and if it was positive.
