  1. I use this site to look up parts because they use your VIN and the factory parts look up. Give it a try. https://parts.nissanusa.com/nissanparts/index.cfm?action=replacement&groupid=D&sectionid=221&jointvehid=18124&siteid=14
  2. Hello Mr Tuscon, It has been awhile. we went to Laurel Mississippi to goof off last week and bought some gas at a local station that didn't look very "well kept". I did not fill up because of this and wanted to wait for a better location. On the way home the van check engine light came on, (first time ever) and I thought back to that station. Code was p0300 multi-misfire. One of the things to check is low fuel pressure, that's what got me thinking of the fuel filter. I had put new plugs in a few weeks earlier so I rechecked the coil on plug fitment, ran seafoam treatment in tank, and cleaned the crank sensor. Going for a 200 mile trip today and we will find out if it will put up a code or not. I am planning on ordering a crank sensor to keep in the van tool box just in case. I really like your travel pictures! i need to take time to upload some of mine. Going back to Glacier this August. 79000 miles and still love the van.
  3. Thanks Mark, I did go to the local dealer(not a commercial dealer) and he told me it was built into the fuel pump. He said that Nissan started this around 2008 on all of the vehicles they build. Just thinking of being in Montana this summer and getting a trash in the tank on the way. It must be OK, have not heard anyone complaining or having trouble.
  4. Where is the fuel filter and what does Nissan call it? I have searched for it by name and looked for it on the under side of my van. There is a part called a fuel strainer on the engine by the intake manifold, but it looks small. Anyone changed one yet?
  5. That is very cool! I have been thinking of doing the 2" receiver in front for a place to attach the winch when needed but I may have to copy you. Great job on the roof rack too. Did you weld to the frame or is this mount bolted in?
  6. My 2013 is a hightop, and the squeak that comes and goes is at the top rear corner. I actually had my wife drive and I pressed out on the top of the door to make change/stop. I did some shimming and oiling and still comes back sometimes. Making sure to "slam" to door also seems to help. It does it the worst when empty, the more stuff I put in it the better it does (?!), so I keep a dirt bike in there for an excuse.
  7. Keath, I broke mine backing in the shop. You can disassemble it and take it to a local glass shop and they can order a replacement for about 45.00. Its held in place by 2 sided tape that comes stuck to the mirror and you remove the paper and stick the new one on. This part is in the catalog but there are 2 sizes, just measure yours and they can order it for you.
  8. I have considered the same for mine. I would like one with less BTU power than the one in my camper (13,500) and with a heat strip for use when its cold out. The roof is plenty strong, so that is not a worry. Adding 10 more inches to the roof kills the few drive thru places i use now (haha). I say go for it and give us pictures and tell us how easy it was to do!
  9. Sampson, I got all of it from R-1 concepts. The part number of the rotors is EDS644115. They were not EBC rotors, I think they were Eline, I have not changed the back yet, but you can definitely tell a difference with just the front.
  10. That is a great ramp! I think with that arch you won't have any problems reaching the floor of the van. You may need two tie downs because its so wide(one on each side). I like how easy to use and strong the tie downs are, and they work great in the safety chain holes on the receiver hitch to the middle of the ramp. That length and arch are the ticket for loading low street bikes. I think your customers will be impressed you delivered their bike inside the van with the a/c or heat on! Need to charge extra for that kind of service...
  11. Welcome SheHaul, I use my 3500 high top for motorcycles also. I added some "grip tape" to the back and side door areas because the hard plastic is slippery when wet. I stuck it to the plastic and painted areas, it rough and holds the ramp still and feels safer climbing in and out. I use a 1000 pound folding ramp from better built. I have ridden up this ramp a 100 times on dirt bikes and a loaded KLR650. I do use a tie down to the receiver hitch to keep it in place just in case... I also use protaper tie downs in the van, best I've ever used. Hope this helps.Great choice on the NV 3500.
  12. I have Alfa for all my vehicles and home and they put my 3500 cargo on its own policy because of it being a commercial vehicle. I tried to explain my personal use but lost the argument. Never easy or cheap when dealing with insurance.
  13. John, I upgraded my 3500 before going back to Colorado this year. Last year the brakes got hot and started pulsing on the long grades, downshifted but still too much grade. I went with EBC yellow stuff pads and vented and drilled front rotors from R-1 concepts. It was around 430.00 bucks shipped to the house. This really made a difference in distance and feel! It stops so much shorter than before. I use EBC on my dirt bikes so I knew how well they performed in that environment. I would try the pads for sure, but the combo really did the job in the mountains this time. I will post a couple of pics. Hope this helps.
  14. Big Country, I bought my sliding door glass and nuts from Parts For Nissans .com. You enter your VIN and it uses that to be sure the parts fit. My VIN showed no side window and they emailed me to check the order because of the mismatch. The part shipped to my door (factory glass) was cheaper than most aftermarket windows. I actually talked to them about the factory nuts and he looked them up and sent the correct number of them to me. I will use them again. 855-348-3939
  15. We keep a Coleman flush-able potty when traveling. Works great! It's a two piece deal, the tank on top keeps fresh water and the bottom is the holding tank you dump at the campground dump station. It's lite and cleans easy and is very convenient, Well worth the 60 or so bucks i gave for it. Hope this helps.
  16. Decades, do you have a 4x4 conversion or a 2 wheel drive? wondering if anyone has lifted a 2 wheel drive to fit bigger tires.
  17. Got mine today. Just took the survey, its pretty long, They ask about pulling trailers and what kinds of road surface and grades you drive on. Kinda made me feel bad for how i treat my van! Towing and rough roads,etc... Thinking they may take it away from me and give it to someone who will baby it?
  18. I have been to Utah several times... never had a bumper problem, radiator-front hubs-flats-getting lost....never bumpers! Time for some cool Fab4 or other tough off-road bumpers with storage and hooks maybe. I like the look of the overland explorer vans so I may smash mine too so she will let me buy some.
  19. I have a rattle in the top rear corner. Wife drove and I found it went away when I pushed out on that corner of the door. There is no factory adjustment on the latch at that corner, I removed and modified the holes to a slot to adjust the latch. Noise is mostly gone, but still happens on really rough roads. I have the high roof by the way. Plan on working on it soon to understand and make it tight and quiet. Had two dirt bikes and a bunch of stuff in the van and pulling camper to race last weekend and noise would happen on rough bridges and potholes, so getting closer.
  20. I took a few pics of other rigs while on the road, I love seeing people enjoy this country no matter how they do it! Better than watching other people enjoy life on TV....get out there and do something. The big truck was from Australia, made the Nissan look small, maybe if I fed the NV more veggies someday it will grow?
  21. We made it back! 5850 miles on the van, zero problems. I got it very nasty on a muddy Kebler pass in crested butte, colorado, but got some great pictures of the aspen trees. The changing room and potty came in very handy. All the extra stuff and clothes are really nice to have with you all the time. We got wet in Glacier on a hike, plugged the boot drier up in the back, and had dry stuff with us to change in the parking lot, slide the curtain over and changed. Never slept in it, every campground had a cabin for little more money than a campsite so went that way instead. Having the motorcycle locked up in the van and unloading when and where i wanted was perfect. I LOVE this van, and now my wife does too!
  22. I mounted a camera on the third brake light lens, does not affect it very much. It was a wireless FM signal unit but didn't work well so it is a wired unit now and is working well. I put the 7 inch screen where the rear view mirror should be(no windows-no mirror from nissan). It is high enough to see a large area, and it comes on and stays on with the ignition. The glare or reflection is a problem at times because of the angle it is mounted, but it is a big help at times. I have played with the Garmin looking all over the world by zooming out. Not sure you could travel abroad with it, but the Garmin website should give info on that. The zoom feature is something you may like, you can zoom out and see the route to get a better heads up of where you are headed. I flew on a 777 once and the GPS on the seat was a lot like the one I have and it was very cool to monitor the flight (over 600 mph) as we went from Chicago to DC.
  23. I really like the Garmin, I am on my second one now, screen problems on 1st one after 4 years. Three years on this one I bought for 75.00 is doing great. I use it for work and can move it from car to car or motorcycle or even carry it in my pocket. Garmin is a big name in avionics so that is pretty impressive also. I only drive the Nissan on weekends and really haven't got to use the nav enough to get as comfortable as my Garmin yet. Like you said, 150 bucks for an SD card or a Garmin with lifetime maps is really a better deal for me just to be able to use it on several vehicles. I really shopped for a long time for my van and the NAV/tech package was high on my list of wants and I'm glad I have it for the camera and GPS, no regrets on that at all.
  24. Yes my van does have the Nav unit, I read that the map is the SD card on the lower right of the unit, they are 150.00 from Nissan but not sure if they are current (newer) than what we have now. We have an Atlas and maps of each state we plan on playing in. An iphone, android and garmin gps are also in the van. The Garmin actually picked up the dirt road passes between Silverton and Lake City, Colorado, so hoping it will help us this time also. The latest on the Going to the Sun road is open at night also, maybe some of the turnouts will open soon. No chocolate... got it,
  25. I have seen bears at Yellowstone and in the Teton NP. Hard to find bear spray and snow chains here in Alabama, we will get some when we get out there. We will only have snacks and drinks in the van, not cooking much on this trip so we won't have much trash to worry about either. Makes you think about eating bacon and eggs before heading out on a hike, if you smell like breakfast to a bear your just asking for it. I know 95 percent of the time they are startled or we get too close while the cubs are around but i still try to think ahead. Looked at the webcams today and its still smokey looking around St Mary's area.
