  1. Lgpalmer - the idatastar remote that my dealer installed does not have the features you are describing. It has the basics and a few extended features but they are all based/programmed with the included remote and does not connect with other external devices. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
  2. What I finally found was a set of wheels from Black Iron Wheels (see link below). What an impossible venture this was. I went with a 17"x8.5" wheel and the rubber is a Falken WildPeak AT3 265/70 R17. Wheels and rubber look great. I am very happy. The + 25 mm offset along with the wider wheel pushes the tire out exactly 1". What I was after. The only annoying thing - although this wheel - Vigilante - is still being advertised on their website, it is discontinued in the Satin Black and only available in silver. http://www.blackironwheels.ca/Styles/vigilante/satin-black
  3. Nothing yet. I will install wheels and tires in March or April. This gives me a bit more time to narrow down my wheel selection. I purchased my NV in late October and I figured I would run it through the winter as is. Start the customizing in spring.
  4. Can am - Sorry the repair did not work out for you. I have attached a photo of the latest service bulletin for the tranny malfunction on the NV2500 and NV3500. Sorry the pic quality is not great. I am not sure if a visit back to the dealer (or another one) may be in order. I wonder if they were working off an "old fix" and we're not able to get it right. Several others I know of had this bulletin and they were all fixed up with everything running as it should. Assuming that a commercial dealer is not too far away I would give it a second go. I hope this helps and good luck.
  5. Trdriver71. That is the size tire I have settled on. Cooper Discoverer AT3 265/65 R17. I have my wheels narrowed down to about 3 choices but they are all 17x8" wheels with an offset ranging between +20-30 mm.
  6. Actually your wheels did it. 10 mm offset leaves the wheel out 30 mm farther towards the curb than factory. Then the 8.5" wheel, 1" wider than stock, adds about 12 mm push towards the curb. So that wheel is out 42 mm farther than stock. I think it looks good. If I didn't use my NV to commute to work everyday I would have gone with a wheel and tire that just clears the door. It's a great look on these vans.
  7. It's funny how when I look at your wheels they don't seem to stick out too far. But when you add the photo of the sliding door it sure does help to put things in perspective. Your rims and tires look good on your van chphilo! Thanks for the info - it helps.
  8. Hi macroman - since no one has answered your question I will help answer (notice I am answering my own question - lol). I did a crap load of research on this and here is what I have learned. Keep in mind I wanted to stay with a 17 inch wheel - this is my daily commuter. I would love to through a set of 20" wheels on but not practical for me. The stock wheels have a +40 mm offset and not the 18 to 20 mm that I was lead to believe - learning this really screwed things up but did save me a major headache. This 40 mm offset is a real pain. I want to stay with a 17" wheel so the tire aspect ratio stays tall and it helps to smooth out the ride. Also 17" wheels and rubber and much less expensive that 20" wheels/rubber - lol. The problem is try to find a 17 x 8" wheel with an offset of greater than 25 mm - can't be done. Anyway, I have settled on a wheel that has a 20 mm offset and moving from 7.5" factory wheel to an 8" wheel and along with the lesser offset my tire will push out about 26 mm. Which will stick out past the fender lip a bit. A distance that will look good yet make the vehicle more efficient to drive.
  9. I like the idea of a dealer list. I'm in southern Ontario and I don't think there are too many NV passengers in my area. Before I purchased my NV I did an interview with the service department of several dealerships. Why, the Nissan Dealer in my city (10 minutes from me) had their commercial vehicle division pulled from them by Nissan. Doesn't leave one with a good feeling. So far I have been dealing with one in a neighbouring city that's on my way to work. They are new to the commercial side and learning but they seem to be willing to go that extra mile. They don't seem to have all the answers up front but quite good at getting them and fast. So if the dealer list does show I can put my two cents worth of comments in for sure.
  10. NTB17-105 I is the service bulletin. I have not had any issues with my vehicle thus far. You can find the info on this service bulletin via this link below. From what I understand it is an easy fix: http://redirect.viglink.com/?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_151105074099313&key=2434b00a9d166beddf6d6a7cfafca74f&libId=ja60j2260100iic7000MAus56w497nak8&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fnissannvforum.com%2Ftopic%2F1436-transmission-issues%2Fpage-2%23entry10682&v=1&out=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vehiclehistory.com%2Freports%2Ffree-reviews-complaints-report%2Fnhtsa-service-bulletins.php%3Fmake%3Dnissan%26model%3Dnv%2Bpassenger%26year%3D2017&title=Transmission%20Issues%20-%20Page%202%20-%20Nissan%20NV%203500%20HD%20-%20Nissan%20NV%20Owners%20Forum&txt=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.vehicleh...enger%26amp%3Byear%3D2017
  11. Bro@home - when did you buy your 2017? I bought mine in Oct and vehicle was built in June. No issues. I wonder if nissan caught this issue and later 2017 where built with updated software.
  12. Don't know if this will be of help - sounds like there are a couple of service bulletins that describe what is occurring on these posts' Good luck. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/reports/free-reviews-complaints-report/nhtsa-service-bulletins.php?make=nissan&model=nv+passenger&year=2017
  13. Hi All: I would be curious to know what your build date is on your NVs. Mine has a build date of June 2017 and I have not experienced any issues (build date can be found on the driver side door were the GVWR is listed). As I was reading through all the posts I was thinking "software update" and I was happy to see that @Quiet7 issues were resolved. Hopefully everyone else gets things sorted out to their satisfaction. One thing I am finding about the NV3500 is that the sales people, service advisors and even some of the mechanics are not at all knowledgeable about the NV. I love my NV but I am a bit dissapointed with the lack of expertise Nissan shows in regards to the NV - at least in my area - Southern Ontario.
  14. Will do. I think this will be a spring project.
  15. andy_george - I have taken a brief look under the NV3500 and the side of the frame is - depending on where you want your side bars to end up - approximately 16-19" away. That's a long way away and I am afraid the brackets would have to be huge. Not saying it can't be done. Other problem is on the driver side just in front of the rear wheel. On the 2017 there is an obstruction that won't allow your to get to the frame for at least 2-2.5 ft in front of the rear wheel. I guess at that point one could mount to the seam welded sheet steel and bolt to the frame every where else. I haven't taken bolting to the frame off the table I was just curious if I was to drill through the seam welded sheet steel under the rocker panel what could I do to ensure not rusting.
  16. Hi All: I thought I would share this info with the group. I had the Nissan Dealer install a remote engine starter. The model I selected was the idatastart HC3452A. This is a Nissan approved company and it's who the dealers order from and stocks parts. http://www.idatastart.com/en/products/product/HC3452A I looked at other products from other suppliers and kept getting the same answer - it should work but we can't guarantee that it will work or if it works you may not have all the feature working. Didn't like that answer. It turns out as well that when the Nissan Dealer installs the remote starter it gets covered under their 3 yr/ 60,000 km warranty. It took the dealer about 3 hours to install - it was their first NV3500 that they have wired. It turns out it did not work once installed. Since it was quitting time for the mechanics I left my vehicle in the bay overnight. The dealer made a call to idatastart in the morning and they corrected the problem immediately. I have been using the remote starter for two weeks now and it truly feels and works like it came from the factory. All the buttons and all the features work.
  17. I have the same problem periodically with my 2017. I have flexed it and reshaped it by hand which seems to be working but some of the other thoughts I have had if the problem comes back are: 1) taping a portion of it to the opening frame with clear gorilla tape 2) Adding a larger loom around the existing loom to give it some springback. I notice mine has been squished a few time when it got caught and it now seems to have lost its spring to flex back when the door closes - if that makes sense. 3) Though about adding some industrial velcro to the door opening frame and the wire loom so it can't come out too far then get caught in the door at closing. Not sure if any of these ideas will work. I am hoping the problem won't resurface.
  18. Hi All: I am looking to do a wheel/rubber change out on my 2017 NV3500 SL. I want to go to an all black wheel and a more aggressive A/T type wheel. I have just started to research this topic and before I go see wheel/tire people I would like to educate myself a bit more. I have included, what I hope is accurate, a listing of factory wheel/tire specs. My confusion lies in the wheel diameter and offset. I want to stay with the 17" wheel size but does anyone know how wide a rim I can go to or how much offset (+/-) can be utilized before any rubbing occurs? Thanks for all your help. NV Passenger NV3500 HD Bolt Pattern - PCD 8x165.1Stock wheel offset - 18 to 20 mmCenter bore (hub bore) - 121.0Thread size - M14 x 1.5Stock Rim Sizes Range - 17x8.0 – 17x8.0Tire sizes - 245/70 R17 – 245/70 R17
  19. I just purchased a 2017 NV3500 SL off the lot. Before I did I scoured the web and read all the professional reviews and even talked to Nissan Dealers and it seems the answer is NO to any changes from 2017 to 2018. The all definitely said that the engine and drive train will stay the same and the exterior would not change. Maybe a little change to the interior but they were betting on absolutely no change. One professional source indicated that they were working on a hybrid/electric version and a diesel engine version but felt that would be a few years out. Based on that info I decided to buy a 2017 at a year end clearance sale. Lol - my luck would have the diesel come out in 2018.
  20. Hi All: Almost 2 years after the last post but then again I dislike starting a new thread on the same topic. Its a bit bothersome how little customizing options are available for our vehicles. I am looking to install a set of side bars on my 2017 NV3500 - photo is of a 4" oval stainless side bar that is powder coated black that I will be installing. I will need to "rework" the mounting brackets so they will fit for my application. I worked as a welder/technologist and now teach in a welding engineering program at College so I have access to everything needed to customize the brackets. I do have one question for this group about mounting via "drilling holes" versus a bracket that would clamp onto the seam welded sheet metal under the rocker panel. I prefer to drill because it will be easier to modify the brackets to mount via drilling as opposed to creating brackets that mount via clamp style. My question: If you drill into the vehicle to mount the brackets what should be done to prevent corrosion? Unfortunately the mounting location for the brackets is going to be in a high road salt spray area and drilling concerns me. Any thoughts?
  21. ASD Dad. Sorry about not seeing the photo of my vehicle. I wonder if their is a different way for me to post. However, I am reading your little blurb on your NV and it sounds pretty awesome. Is their a photo of it posted? I would love to see it.
  22. Thanks andy_george. I am very happy with this van. Now for a little customizing over the next six months. Wheels, rubber, running boards/tubes. I have the running boards I just need to "rework" the factory brackets to fit the NV3500. All fun. I looking forward to be a part of this group. I have read through some of the posts - lots of great info.
  23. Hi chphilo. Thanks. The one thing I do like about this pearl white is that it doesn't show all the colours of the rainbow. I have seen some pearl whites that throw a lot of pink and purple. I did get to see this vehicle parked beside a bright white cargo van and that is when I decided I really liked the pearl white.
