  1. Agree that a No-Sh!^ tuner needs to be made for this.
  2. So I put an Airaid Cold Intake, that was made for the Titan 2012. Everything worked great, except the air damper that came with the kit was NOT long enough. However, thanks to my desperation (don't you love how resourceful you become when you started working on the wife's car and the sun starts going down) i found a workaround. Go to a Lowes-type store, plumbing section. What you need is a 4 inch to 4 inch rubber flexible coupling (each end is 4 inches wide, and each end has its own clamp). If your area of the country does not have 4 inch plumbing as common, i would make sure i get this (preorder if necessary) when you order your Cold air intake...because I think the titan engine chassis width is slightly less wide than the NVP, and that extra inch of coupling was what made the final connection possible.
  3. Yeah same trouble. LSI, can you give more detailed description (I am not yet familiar with this particular activity). If you can also message me the response, so i get a notification.
  4. Also, I think for V8, cruise control driving is your friend.
  5. Dont go with volo. But do a CAI update!
  6. Actually that is what encouraged me to act sooner rather than later. I really think that once Nissan knows it has a show-stopper it will raise price due to demand. and for those of you looking now and are having trouble getting the dealer to go below MSRP, that has alot to do with where you love and the fact that the Nissan production line is not hardcore into the NV line. once they invest into a full rate production, that price will go up. ask yourself this, how can this 12 passenger van that weighs almost 5 tons, be almost 10k cheaper than a suburban...answer, it wont be for long!
  7. Awesome, go for it. The way i did my calculations, i could take the price of the NVP, take a thousand dollars (to put in a tuner chip, cold air intake, and high flow air filter) and still come out ahead of the suburban. I say worth it if you are needing anything higher than the 7 passenger vans.
  8. i have actually seen people take the cargo van NV and mod it into a sweet RV. As for camping just you, or even you and a bunk mate, it would be more than acceptable. There are version that have plugs in the back of the van, so you could even have a powered air mattress. Truth be told, you may be the one who turns the heads. MPG is around 12mpg though, so dont have delusions. I have a 3500nvp, and i love it.

I am now thinking of tuner chip, and looking at the VOLO.
  10. So would you agree that 4wd would have been overkill with this puppy?
  11. Any issues with the tire pressure at 70-80 psi and the tire monitoring system?
  12. so why would you get a v6 if you plan n towing anything??? I know that a V6 has better mpgs, but what would you really be towing that would make it worth the stresses you are putting on a V6? If you are really going to tow, go with the v8, and spend a thousand on a new chip, cold air intake, and high flow muffler As for price, i was able to get below MSRP but that was not on East Coast. Price is a factor of demand, and thinkk of it this way...that same truck in 2013 will be 5-10k more expensive...
  13. Yeah I live in colordao, and i bought the NV Passenger. Although it is only 2wheel drive, it is also almost 5 tons. My plan is to put snow tires on in the winter.
  14. Like I said in another post, i am seeing alot of similarity with the Titan engine. I am thinking that I can use a cold air intake that will fit the titan....may need to mod a little because the dimensions are probably NOT the same. I may just go with a better air filter and mod the air box a little better...we shall see

So I am thinking, based on intuition and research, that the engine s nearly identical to the TITAN 5.6L. I did some research and found a free airbox mod to the titan airbox, which consists of cutting out part of the snorkel in the airbox. I reset the ECU, and will see if that has an impact on MPG.
  16. No, it wasnt sams...the ones here dont have car washes. I went to a real car wash place, one that allows you to drive through, and it has a 24 hour express. I like it because it has free vacuums. Number one important thing is to measure the height of your car and talk with a manager to make sure there are no height issues. HOWEVER< i am thinking about finding a truck place that has a larger bay, or just taking it to those spray it yourselves. The automated ones do not seem to be able to reach the top of the car.

    compare And contrast

    From the album: Xavman NVP

Here is an OK picture, but it shows the difference in size between a minivan, a suburban, and the bohemeth!

    NVP 3500 HD SV
  19. Just took my new NVP 3500HD SV V8 through an automated carwash. I think this beast is somewhere between 7 to 7.5 feet tall, so there is no way you can competently wash the top. First is make sure you know how tall your NVP is, and if you take it through a carwash make sure you know the height clearance information. Also, the mirrors on the side stick out quite far, so be careful there as well. My car wash went well. I had to fold my mirrors in. I will say that i will be looking around for a carwash that is more liberal with its height, just to be safe and never sorry. Also, i will probably look for a touchless wash, because they may have better side clearances. Again, i had no problems before, but i was biting my nails (with the mirrors folded in) wondering and hoping that my mirrors would not get ripped off. I think it is better to wash often.
  20. Just bought my NVP. Posting a bunch over this website...why, because this van is the future! Trust me, in 1-2 years, they will cost 10k more than they do now.
  21. Just started driving and am getting about 14ish...once i put in a tuner chip and air flow and start the synthetic oil, it should get a little better.
  22. So i love my NVP SV, and I want this forum to be a little more successful than its sparsity is currently. I can tell you that if you have a family of 7+, this is the only way to still drive a bus but turn people's heads like you drove a sports car. However, the first step is to read what other people think. As such, i am posting a few links to reviews: http://www.edmunds.com/nissan/nv-passenger/2012/ http://www.vitafamiliae.com/?p=4817

Anyone know of any chips, tuning kits, air intakes for the NV? I have the 5.6L NV3500HD SV and wonder if the engine is identical to the titan 5.6L to allow for air intakes etc.
  24. Anyone seeing any websites supporting chipsets, tuner packs, or air intakes for the NV?
