  1. I find it amazing how big the vehicle is yet how easy it is to fill up all that room. At first I was like, "what am I going to do with all this room?" Now I wish the beast had an extra 2 feet in length lol
  2. Thanks for the tip. I have noticed that compared to other vehicles in a parking lot my driver and passenger windows look so transparent that they can appear to be rolled down.
  3. The Ram Promaster as an extended passenger seat. Looks like they realized that a lot of people are sitting on folding chairs in the middle. Wish Nissan would have had something similar too. I hate modding stock if I don't have to. :(
  4. You might have to go custom or wait. The NV is rather new and can't compare to the foot hold that GMC ford and Chevy have in the van market. Their styles have been around decades giving ample time to make custom products and accessories. I'm still waiting in hopes of a brush guard with winch mount
  5. Has anyone here had a Ford or GMC van as their work vehicle that has now switched to the high top NV. If so, do you ever forget to check for roof clearance? for example low hanging tree limbs that you wouldn't have to typically worry about in your prior vehicle
  6. You best bet would be to just keep your eyes open and when you start to enter the parking garage look out and up and see if you come in contact with the plastic pipe thingy they have hanging to make sure you will have clearance
  7. yeah I disabled it, I was far more stuck then I thought i was. When I got out to check, the passenger door was only a few inches off the ground and the rear wheel was half buried in very wet mud. I even cracked a mudflap when getting pulled out. Isn't a recovery strap for when I get stuck and there is someone around to pull me out? I'm worried about getting stuck somewhere in the middle of the night when there is no one around to help.
  8. I was driving on a dirt road and moved over too far to let a passing vehicle get by and my passenger rear and front tires got stuck in 6 inches of wet mud. Luckily my friend lived near by and he was able to pull me out by using my front tow hooks. This got me nervous as what if he wasn't home at the time. I was thinking of getting a winch but didn't know how big of a winch I would really need. According to most sites you take your vehicles weight and times it by 1.5 which would have me looking at a 15,000 winch which is very expensive. Here's the thing, I don't go mudding and if I ever do get stuck again it would probably be in snow or a little bit of mud. Is 15,000 really necessary if your not planning on purposely driving driving into a mud pit? I have the tow package so I can use a winch with a receiver mount so I could stow it when not needed. Also I was thinking of using snatch blocks to increase winch power if need be. Also the nv has ac power in the rear near the hitch so I could use one of those ac powered utility winches (although those I haven't seen above 3000 pound). Let me know what you guys think. Thanks
  9. .rar is just a compressed file. Winzip and others will decompress the file.
  10. Looks really nice. Did you put some time of cushion between the rack and the mounting points? So you don't rub the paint off the mounting points and start to have a rust problem. But if you herculined the whole thing I'm sure that would be cushion enough. I want to make something similar but I also want to put expanded metal or enough cross bars that I can walk on the roof when moving luggage around. Very cool Did you use herculiner or a different product?
  11. looks very cool, herculiner works well but it will loose it's gloss over time unless you apply that other product they sell to make it shiny again.
  12. Just wanted to open a discussion with NV cargo owners. What made you choose the NV over other cargo van competitors?
  13. I found this and it's looks fairly nice. Almost everything I would need in a rack http://www.inlad.com/nissannvstandardroofgalvanizedsteelvanrack.aspx?BrandId=38
  14. Aluminess is nice looking but 1,500 seems excessive for what it is. Maybe I'll switch to aluminum square tubing which is also fairly corrosion resistant. Amazonsupply.com is great for checking out prices and they have a great selection. heavy metal doctor I'm assuming you are using square steel tubing and then powder coating or bedliner to resist corrosion?
  15. Is there a big difference between 304 stainless steel and 316? In other words is it worth the price increase for 316 or is 304 pretty much outdoor weather proof?
  16. Jimupcp "Important notes for installation: Do not install rear-facing CRS in the 2nd row driver side outboard seat. Only install harness-equipped forward-facing CRS in positions with a top-tether anchor available. Due tonumerous vehicle seating configurations, not all CRS below will fit in every vehicle seat in everyconfiguration." https://owners.nissanusa.com/content/techpub/snugkids-english/nissan_nv_passenger_english.pdf you make bullets with the button below "size" I'm not sure about back up cameras but a recent competitor would be the new Ford Trasit There are 324 configurations because the seats are modular meaning that there are 6 separate pieces of seats and 4 of those seats can be moved into a "limo" position which allows more leg room. In reality of those 324 configurations only about 10 configurations are useful and will ever really be used in real life.
  17. I have 2 twin boys (18 months) and 3 girls 9yrs,11yrs,12 yrs + 2 dogs I can tell you the things I like about the Nissan NV Passenger. Backup camera, it's huge and this is a must for tight parkingstorage drawer under driver seat for baby wipes and diaperspassenger seat folds flat into a work desk AKA baby changing table :)Seating configurations are niceside curtain air bagsthings I didn't like seat directly behind driver is not meant for rear facing car seats (front facing is approved)no mirrors in sun visor (an easy DIY fix)not much room behind rear 4 seats (probably won't fit stroller unless you take some seats out)no factory remote car starter available
  18. Thanks for the information. I don't know how to weld but nuts and bolts with lock washers should be nearly ass effective if I do decide to make my own. I was brainstorming and thinking of square tube as well and since I would be using the rack for coolers, luggage bags, and totes etc. I was pondering the idea of an expandable rack, by which I mean when not in use the rack is low profile and when you want to use it for luggage you can drop walls into place (think of a stake body truck). I also had the idea of instead of separate walls, walls that are on a hinge and fold down flat when not in use. Another issue is getting stuff onto the roof of this 7 foot beast. I did find a ladder for the rear door, but I'm not sure if it requires drilling (I hate making holes into my shiny new toy) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0240973895 (I sent an email and asked if there is any drilling needed) I was also thinking I could make my own ladder and have it hook onto the roof rack with a hook and the base of the ladder would stand on the entrance of the side door when it was open, that way you wouldn't have to worry about the ladder hitting any paint
  19. I'm looking to get a roof rack for the NV passenger. I want something that would hold luggage or other totes when traveling long distances to free up room in the interior. Are there different options? Maybe even DIY?
  20. I found out that you can't put a rear facing car seat in the seat behind the driver in the first row, only forward facing car seats are allowed according to some nissan documentation. Right now I am using a configuration of 1st row in limo position, 2nd row removed, 3rd row seats all in place. The stroller can fit behind the first row although it is a tight squeeze getting it behind the seats with the 1st row in limo position.
