  1. It's looks exactly like a CO2 cartridge like in a BB gun.  Not sure why it is green and I am shocked it went through your tire like that!  That is a definite replace job vs. patch job.

I had a big chunk of concrete go through my tire from all the road construction going on.  It was about 3/4" in diameter so a big hole.  Used that as my excuse to swap out all my tires to all terrains!

You got it. Have no idea how that was even possible.

  2. Good luck to you! I vaguely remember the last of the milkmen in the late 60’s. I think it’s an idea whose time has come again.

The NV should be a good choice for you. Mine has been extremely reliable over the last two years. There really doesn’t seem to be an achilles heel with this thing - if you don’t count gas mileage, and I don’t. It’s a box w/  a gas engine- not breaking any mpg records.

  3. 2014 2500 Hi-roof. I have the V6 and it’s been great. I carry about 500# and occasionally pull a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer loaded with about 700-800#. Barely feel I’m pulling anything. I live in SE Michigan which is very flat, so take that into consideration.

The general consensus here seems to be if you’re towing a sizable load, get the V8.

  4. Thanks for all the help. I used the site quite a bit before purchasing our new passenger van with the Quigley 4x4 with a 2" lift. Since bringing it home we have added an electric step from Auto Cool and larger Toyo 265 tires. I couldn't be happier with the set up so far.attachicon.gifIMG_1886.JPGattachicon.gifIMG_1887.JPGattachicon.gifIMG_1888.JPG

Could you give me some information on the step? I went to the Auto Cool site and didn’t really find much. What was the cost and did you install it yourself? Thanks!

  5.

Curious what kind of issues you've had (or expect) from your NV

I'm personally kind of sick of how frequently my 2007 sprinter has been in the shop since i bought it (at 80,000 miles). When buying I didn't realize the high top version could be had from 27k-32k brand new.. they can also tow much more and the 4x4 conversion is around 10k. The NV's do use more gas and seems like space efficient is less as the hook sticks out so far compared to euro style sprinters. Does anyone know the distance from the back of the seat to the back door?

Chris - I have a 2014 with around 20K miles. Not a single issue- great van. The mileage isn’t great, but I’ve driven Ford vans for 25 years, so I’m used to lousy gas mileage.

  6. Truck Trend did a long term test. If I recall correctly, they liked it.

To me it looks smaller than the Ford, Ram or MB products. It would be interesting to see if the Chevy version costs less.

Thanks, Rad. In this case, size doesn’t matter. I’m not carrying a lot. However, a big reason I bought My NV2500 was the 5yr/100K warranty. The NV200 has the same, while the Transit Connect has a 3/36.

  7. I currently own a NV2500 Hi-roof work van and am considering either a Ford Transit Connect or an NV200 to add to my “fleet”. I’m hoping for some feedback about durability and general satisfaction with the NV200. Also, why you selected the Nissan over the Ford, etc. Thanks!

  8. Don't know why there are redundant photos above of the adhesive, maybe we just want it to stick?

Anyway, we're also doing the bed at the same time. Hub wants to get out of the van for a bit. He's framing the bed very stoutly because he's gonna put 4'slides, $175 each, including shipping and handling (sounds like an infomercial) for three large drawers. Each set of slides weighs 28 pounds. They're rated to hold up to 500#. There nothing wrong with overbuilding, we want to be able to carry our fortune of gold with us. Photo below.

After the bed base is framed, we're putting an IKEA full-sized bed,Tarva on top. We're leaving on the headboard as I sleep with a wedge and without a headboard to keep it from sliding up the bed, I'm crawling up the bed multiple times nightly, messing up my sleep. Any of you who use a wedge for GERD knows how that goes!

The top of the bed will be 36" off the floor. That way we'll both will be able to sit straight up while giving us maximum storage area under the bed.

Those are some monster slides. What brand?

  9. Floor in. We used Home Depot generic vinyl planks, 100% waterproof. We used the prefinished outside corner moulding on the step and plain aluminum threshold in the back so we won't pull up the flooring if sliding things in. The floor is grey, though it looks otherwise in the photo. It matches the upholstery.

Looks great, I may use the same.

  10. Subscribed!

Can the fan be opened to vent the rear while driving or is it too much drag/pressure on the lid when cranked up?

I’ve driven while it’s open many times at highway speed. No noticeable increase in wind noise and it appears to have no adverse affect on the fan itself.

  11. I bought a slightly used Ford E-250 years ago that Ford had to buy back from the original purchaser. It, too, drifted to the right. I figured it was worth the savings and, because it was under warranty, they could eventually fix it. I was wrong. They replaced most of the front end components, adjusted this and that, aligned the wheels repeatedly - nothing helped. When I replaced the tires, the problem completely disappeared. I can’t imagine that they didn’t rotate them when trying to correct the drift, but really don’t remember.

  12. I installed a Fantastic fan about 18 months ago and have had no issues. If you think about it, the fan itself, sealed and through-bolted with SS bolts actually adds back some rigidity to the structure. It’s a relatively small opening and very little of the rib is removed. I used a grinder to cut through the roof, so no welds were popped. I posted a few pics under NV Cargo. Great fan.
