NV2500 HIGH TOP ROOF LEAKS

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a NV2500 high top and within a few months I have had leaks running down the inside windshield every time it rains. I have had it back to the dealer twice and still leaking . I recently was able to trace the leak to the body seam that runs down the slopped front part of the body above the windshield . It is now going back a third time to the dealer I have no idea what their fix will be. I already stated I did not want any caulking job on the exterior . Any body else with a high top ran into this issue ? Thanks

Sorry to hear you're having this problem.

I would take it to a reputable body shop & ask if that seem can be re-welded from the inside. Not sure that would work or it may require some repainting after the welding. They should be able to fix it, but may require some body work.

Yep I'm having this problem too. Leaking at door frame drivers side right below seam on sloping roof. Side curtain airbag soaking wet and water dripping onto window and lock controls. Stay tuned.

I just drove mine in a real bad rain storm and no leaks here so far. This does have me worried though. Anymore news on this issue?

Okay, the dealer had the window out for the fourth time and decided to replace gasket because of the number of times it had been reused.  While removing and cleaning the surfaces a 3/16 hole was discovered in the body seam just above the windshield. The hole was "fixed" and the windshield reinstalled.

Let's hope this is the end of this headache.

I read this topic years ago when I first bought my van and was waiting for this to happen.  It has several times.  But it is NOT from the windshield leaking.  It is from condensation forming on the ceiling of the high roof van.  I've noticed this in cooler weather especially.  The water collects on the inside sheetmetal and runs down to the windshield.  I know this because I have removed all of the factory plastic in this area and replaced it with custom wooden shelves which allows me to see (and trace) where the water is coming from.  If you still have your factory trim plastic (around the sunvisors) installed, you would never see this and the water would appear at the gap where the plastic meets the windshield.    Hope this helps

Have a 2013 Nissan hightop and had the same problem. There was rust under my windshield so I had it taken out and fixed and repainted and a new windshield installed to the tune of $1800.00 and it leaks like a sive.Taking it back in a couple days to have it fixed? I hope!!

My 2014 High Roof has had off and on leaking above the rear wheels on both sides... like, in the roof, but above the rear wheels. Had the dealer look at before warranty expired.. at first, they made it sounds as if it might get totaled (!) and replaced... then they found out we'd been rear ended in the last 6 months. It *barely* bent one section of the rear bumper, but that , to them added potential component failure/seal failure that could have happend due to the hit. EYEROLL. The problem predated the hit but I couldn't get them to agree (even though they'd looked at it for this issue prior). So, yep, I've asked a body shop and it sounds like a rich man's fox hunt to identify where the water is getting in. Living with it and fortunately, it's a fantastic van, or I'd be looking elsehwere.
