window deflectors

I have a pair of Nissan brand window deflectors (model 999D3-HX000).  They came with 4 small plastic brackets and pin fasteners.  Does anyone know how the brackets attach to the vehicle?  Many thanks.

I have a set of them I have never installed.  There should be a alcohol pad to clean the paint and two sided tape on the deflectors to stick to the paint on the doors above the window opening.  The 4 small plastic brackets hook in the window channel between the metal and weather stripping and the pins attach the bracket to the deflectors.

 

I haven't installed mine as I hate the idea of sticking anything to the paint.  My colorado has type that insert in the window channel in the door between the metal and weather stripping.  I wish the NVP has that type instead of stick on the paint version.

You are correct that the double-sided tape does stick to the paint.  I'm not as concerned about it, though, as I had the same application on an Explorer for 7+ years before removing and finding that it had no effect on the paint.  To be sure, I also put some Dr. Beasely's paint sealant where the tape touches the car.

 

I was able to get the brackets hooked in.. it's just that they have some negative tolerances with the metal rim of the door and the weather stripping.  It's really not a big deal, I was just expecting a better fit from a Nissan brand product built specifically for this vehicle.

 

FYI, the double-sided tape is strong, but not as strong as it could be.. the front brackets push the deflector out slightly too far and the tape was not initially sticking well at those points.

 

I hope an aftermarket product comes available that, like you said, attaches between the door and weatherstripping-- always a better install and cleaner look.

I want to purchase window deflectors too. Are they easy to install even if I'm not a "handy" man?

Pretty easy install - instructions are good. Mine have been on 3 years - still look new and are secure.

Don't remember any drilling for these - someone else correct me if I'm wrong. There are two metal clips that push into place on a metal lip after you pull back the weatherstrip moulding.

The deflector then attaches to these two clips with two plastic push rivets. The main attachment, of course, comes from the 3M type tape that runs along the upper length of the deflector.

And the best thing is - if you miss the placement on one of the clips and things don't line up just right, you can just drill a new attachment hole thru the lexan (or whatever it is). No need to even ask me how I know this

I wish Weather Tech would make them for the NV, they are the in-channel type. I have contacted them a few times and never got a response.
