  1. I am assuming that you will be keeping the factory suspension. I am still trying to figure this thing out myself. Apparently the limiting factor is the sliding door. You do not want to deviate too far from the factory offset. I am looking for some cool black wheels with chrome/silver accent. My favorite so far: Method 301: 17x7.5, 25 mm offset. Ultra Maverick: 17x8, 20 mm offset Ultra Fanthom: 17x8, 20 mm offset It seems that more common are 17x9 wheels. I am not sure how low one could go in offset so that there's no rubbing on the door. Perhaps some more experienced members can chime in.
  2. Cool! Congrats. My wife really liked that color and I liked the black. We drove to Ohio since they had Java in stock, but we missed it by about one day. We 'settled' for black. Pose some pictures of your van when you get a chance.
  3. Welcome and congrats from Western PA.
  4. Thank you for the complement. We live in a small town and have the only NVP in town. We ended up showing the van to a number of people. "What is that thing?" is the most common question. The reaction has been all positive. Perhaps we will get some converts, haha. Yesterday, a lady with GMC Yukon was very much interested in the van.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Recent joiner myself.
  6. I am just getting started, haha. To be honest, often it's not what's going on in here that matters as much as how the forum itself becomes helpful for those outside. When I was researching the van, this forum in particular helped me tremendously. Even if the original questioner never comes back, the thread will show up for those who want to find out about those specific issues about these vans.
  7. xavman, good info. I've read somewhere that it actually is more expensive to run ethanol gas because of the poor mpg, not to mention whole lot of other problems it brings. I don't plan to use 15 % ethanol on any of my vehicles even if they are flexifuel. If ethanol-free gas were available to me where I live, I would get those. But for now, my only option is 10%.
  8. I know, I am illegal in PA too. When the shop was installing the tint, a friend of the owner, a state trooper, stopped by and admired the van. No mention of tint being too dark. Fingers crossed, haha.
  9. Got the front windows tinted, 10 % lighter than the factory tint. Like the privacy, and love the look.
  10. Would a cupholder phone mount work like this one? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VQ93RIG?psc=1
  11. I would love to see some pictures to get some ideas for this mod. My wife loves this van and doesn't complain, but I would like to get some of the creature comfort items that we had from our previous upper trim Sienna. We installed a DVD player. With 4 children, that was a must.
  12. Welcome and congrats. Recently joined myself. Love this van.
  13. Pretty neat trick! At least in the picture, I could not even tell.
  14. I am new to this 5.6 engine, but I did not see any description of this being a flexifuel engine, so I assumed that it's non-flexifuel engine. Am I missing something?
  15. Welcome to the forum. Looks great. Did you use a weight-distrubution hitch for the pull?
  16. I have MVP, and for 1-ton van, the ride is surprisingly good. The ride is a lot better than the vans we have at work (Ford 12 passenger vans). The privacy Windows is such that if I am in the back, people walking by don't realize I am there. Best of both worlds. If you are looking to get good mpg, you bought the wrong vehicle. I would get the V8 for such a heavy van.
  17. Here is the link. The site clearly says it's for the passenger van. The numbers don't make sense to me since it's only the SL model that has this payload rating. Perhaps typo? http://www.nissancommercialvehicles.com/nv-passenger/specs?tool=vlp.nvpass.regional.specs.link Payload.tiff
  18. I have NVP 3500. On Nissan's own site, its GVWR is listed as 9430 lbs and curb weight as 6894. I thought payload is simply GVWR minus curb weight, which will give me 2536 lbs as its payload. But Nissan's site lists 3535lbs as its payload. How do they get 3535?
  19. I always go with the biggest engine. I would prefer to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. That's just me. These vans are heavy. With smaller engine having to work that much harder, I wouldn't be surprised if the mpg advantage is non-existent.
  20. Thanks for all the info. Definitely helps. We definitely get more attention when driving NVP than driving Tundra. People stop by to talk to us, asking questions about, "what is that thin?". :) (My Tundra is 2010 also. I have the OME lift on it, but NVP is taller than Tundra)
  21. Thanks for the welcome. I am still active, mainly on TundraTalk, but also on Tundras.com. I was actually surprised how well this 1 ton beast drives. Wife says that it definitely drives and rides better than Tundra. Having ridden on all the rows of seats, I have to agree. We have 1 ton van (Ford) at work and there's no comparison in terms of comfort.
  22. I am new to the NV scene. I currently have a modded Toyota Tundra. It was very easy to mod the truck and after-market parts were plentiful. I am having difficulty finding after-market parts for this van. Right now, I would love to get floor liners, roof rack, one that has basket type that covers the whole roof and a grille guard. Any help will be appreciated.
  23. Thank you for the welcome. We loved our Sienna, but our family couldn't fit comfortably in it. We just got this van this past weekend. So far, we love it. We also have 2010 Toyota Tundra and I am active in various Tundra forums.
