  1. shop around! The NV's are sitting on most car lots so they will be willing to negotiate with you. I did it all from home and we ended up paying way less out the door then when we first saw numbers. Will share the blog link on there that details it all out. Hope it works out!! http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/me-vs-dealership-how-to-get-best-price.html
  2. Thanks everyone!! We looked at the sticker in the van and then the owners manual and they were giving us conflicting numbers. So wanted to be safe and not do something to harm the Bug Blue Beast. @andy_george What brake controller and weight-distribution hitch did you get? Did you install it yourself? I've been reading reviews on different hitches and they are saying some are better then others. Thanks!
  3. We are looking for a camper and need to know what is the max we should be looking at for weight. I see some of you have a 35ft 7,700lb camper and seem to be hauling it fine. Did you do anything to the van to make it be alright to haul that? We have a 3500 Passenger Van SL. There are 2 adults and 3 small kids that will be riding in it too. Some light luggage. Throw some numbers at me
  4. We got ours replaced for free from Insurance. That doesn't count as a 'claim' either. We are in Florida too so not sure if that is only in our state? Had to get ours replaced after 2 rocks chipped it in different parts of the windshield. :(
  5. The running boards look great!! So glad I could help another NV fan out :) (I'm Vegan Runner Mommy) Hope you got a great deal on them, enjoy the new van!!
  6. When we were looking I wanted a red one... impossible in this area... blue was my second choice and black my 3rd. When we hunted tho I never told them my color preference, if I did they would know they had us under their thumb. So when it came down to it the dealerships got so desperate they offered to get us any color we wanted as long as it was a 'related' dealership. We got a blue one in the end, SL trim :)
  7. We bought it in Tampa FL and it was 7% sales tax. That's another reason we shopped in a large radius too, some areas were 6% or 6.5%. But for us it all came down to the out the door price :) Happy car hunting!!
  8. Please shop around! We bought our SL trim 2016 (in 2016) with ever bell and whistle, and we paid $35,000 out the door. We are a growing family of 5 on one income so I had to make sure we got the absolute best deal I wrote a blog post on how we did it if you want to check it out http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/me-vs-dealership-how-to-get-best-price.html
  9. We had to cut 2 inches off the cement header to get a our van in. As well as raise the garage door to open up more, it was a 2 day project but well worth it!!
  10. We put Luverne on ours and did the 2 long ones. Here is my blog post about it, we installed them ourselves too. http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/luverne-running-boards-for-nissan-nv.html
  11. Salute... I can see that working! We have a ton of cargo work vans over in our area, the passenger ones are maybe 2 or 3 a month. Since they are so rare we tend do to the "Hey its my twin! (point and smile)" Not cool I know...
  12. :) The jeep wave is more like a 2 finger 'whats up' thing... the mini cooper one I don't know exactly, maybe google it? I haven't seen it in action myself.
  13. We keep seeing the NV Passenger Vans here and there locally, so my husband and I decided we need a NV Wave. Any ideas? Jeep owners do a 'wave', even Mini Cooper owners do one! Why not us too? The 'point and smile' as you pass each other is not cool enough...
  14. I finally worked up the courage to call the Nissan dealership and have our rear AC vents looked at. (I don't trust dealer service centers) I see here from the forum that other people have had similar issues to us... just looking to see if anyone had any success in getting it fixed? We live in Florida so the rear air has to work for us! Right now in the winter if we turn the rear vents on full blast Max everything it hardly blows anything out at all almost feels like a whisper or Nothing at All
  15. This was my husband's one complaint with the van. He wanted to be able to recline on a long road trip. The Ford Vans have a recline option... if any one figures this our for the NV would love to know!
  16. Thanks guys! I clarified with him and it's a Panlong brand that he uses. It's $13 on Amazon and then you download an app for the specs.
  17. My brother in law just introduced me to a nifty gadget called an OBD2 that you can connect to your car and give you all the stats while you're driving as well as check for check engine lights and other errors. Has anyone used anything like that before to check your miles per gallon? I'm just wondering about long-term effects on the electronic system if we were to use it constantly will it mess up the electronics over time? Or not? Thanks again!
  18. We have the Luverne MegaSteps, the chrome ones. I got them for about $600 with brackets and shipped for the 'long long' set up. If you give them a call they will cut you a deal if you can send them to a business, it can be a home business even. We installed them ourselves even :) Will include my blog link so you can see what it looks like. http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/luverne-running-boards-for-nissan-nv.html
  19. Welcome to the NV family!! We have little ones we had to put running boards on our van. I'll post a link so you can see pictures. http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/luverne-running-boards-for-nissan-nv.html?m=1
  20. Chris, Just wanted to clarify... We were able to get our 2016 SL for $37k out the door and we do not have tax ID number that we used. I am just a serious bargan hunter and found dealerships who were willing to take a loss. We have a friend who works at a huge dealer locally and was not able to come close to the price I got. He told me that for $37k out the door the dealership was eating $5k.
  21. We saw the same thing, it was crazy the resale is so high for these vans! I guess that is good for us tho, they keep their value! The brand new ones around here are sitting on the lots for over 200 days easy, so the dealership is eager to get rid of them. Glad I could help!! We have 3 littles so car shopping had to be done from home for us, we don't have time to go from dealer to dealer either. :) Let me know if you have any questions about my method for the best NVP deal. It will work for used ones as well!! Yes we love it!! I wish we would have gotten it sooner haha! But no regrets, we are loving all the space and are looking forward to the road trips in our future. I feel so safe and high up too, that was a huge relief for me having come from a Odyssey.
  22. We recently went thru the same thing. We never ever buy brand new vehicles! It goes against every saving and penny-pinching grain in my body. However we wanted the same thing an SL model and in our area within 150 mile radius there was only 2 available and they were only $1,000 less than a brand new one. So after a ton of research and lots of emails to dealers we ended up with a brand new 2016 with 8 miles on it. We paid $37k out the door (all taxes fees etc..) I did a blog post on it and I will attach it to this so you can check it out if you're interested. Let me know if you have any questions:) http://veganrunnermommy.blogspot.com/2016/10/me-vs-dealership-how-to-get-best-price.html?m=1
  23. @Suppermommy We don't... for right now we have a large tablet for the kids to watch movies on and a headrest tablet holder. As time goes on we may need to change that. But it works well for now :) Cuts down on clutter too, no dvd cases in my van since all the movies are on the tablet :)
