  1. And in all reality , if your ever in Pasadena , find the trail head in altadena And take the hike up to the site that should of been preserved , some interesting history ...
  2. The Frame is strong enough if you build a solid triangulated mount with support straps up to the roof for stability ... And then mount a nice Honda generator in the back corner with the exhaust routed outside the van to power the driving lights , a 10kw should do the job . Suspension sag may affect your headlight aim though ... But if you want to lite up that reflective street sign from 60 miles away , your on the right path ! May affect your gas mileage too . Have fun with the install , post some photo's ! :camera: Glenn :happy feet:
  3. Cool , I may wait till this one is in stock , 'cause it matches the rims on my bike trailer .... :)
  4. The offset should clear the slider with no issue's , I hope ....By my calculations it should only stick out about 21mm more than the stock wheel , and I'll run the stock tire size . Glenn
  5. Size: 17x8Offset: 19mmBackspacing: 5.20"Bolt Pattern: 8-165 This is what I'm thinking about with some Michelin's on them .
  6. Yes , Nissan could kick a$$ on this segment with a few well placed ads showcasing the versatility and construction (showcase the body on FRAME construction of the full size vans and the usable space of our little brother ) of the whole NV line . Not alot of folks really know they exist yet ...... Just sayin ' Glenn And how can I still be a "New Member " ???
  7. I drive by the plant in Ladson all the time ... And know a few folks that work there ... That being said I'd never buy one . ( I know the local work force , scary thoughts...) It all gets down to no union , and low labor rates here I believe , And MB is avoiding tariff's / import duty's any way they can ... And unless they bring alot of equipment over from germany for the refit of the plant , a whole lot of the van is still going to be outsourced .
  8. If you look in the gallery , under my interior mods folder , there are a couple of bad photo's of the E350 2/3rds bench seat I installed in mine . Having access to a totaled ford helped , 'cause I used the flush mount floor quick disconnect brackets and all . Took some careful measurements and a afternoon , but the seat come's out with the flip of 2 levers and has secure seat belts too . But I've found that with the wonderful space inside our box's , I can still fit two trials bikes in back with the seat in place . I've only popped it out to haul some very large lumber panels for my neighbor ... I'm still loving my van ! :) Glenn Now to find some rims to match my bike trailer .........
  9. Andy ; Go here and buy the manual for a day ... You should find all you need and be able to print out a schematic . :) http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/shopper_lookup.aspx Have fun , Glenn
  10. The news I heard that made me cringe ... "investors in american oil production losing money due to lower prices of foreign crude " !!! Wasn't oil independence what it was all about ??? Glenn
  11. yes ,The centers release partially out , then pop out the clip body . Compare them as you go , I seem to remember there being 2 or 3 different sized clips , Dia. / lenght etc.. Have fun ! Glenn
  12. It's just got to be the ladder racks .....
  13. Sounds Like a accelerator pedal position sensor issue . First key cycle it failed , second key cycle it went into limp mode . Surprised you don't have a check engine light on ... They are fly by wire .. Glenn
  14. If you can Prove the Service writer Actually called you , I would be contacting the GM/owner of the dealership ... The writer is not only not doing their job correctly , But under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should they know who wrote what on a customer satisfaction survey .... And the fact that if a writer did that , they should be unemployed .... Just my 2 pence ... Glenn
  15. With my new commute that is shorter and includes 15 minutes every morning of street parking lot dropping my kid off at school ... Mine is still showing 19.1 on the display .... I haven't bothered to reset it or check it in quite a while ... I'm still happy with my mpg ... Glenn
  16. LAZY TECHS !!! It take a few seconds to change it ... Yes it should be changed every time ... OR you strip the threads in the pan or on plug from over-tightening to stop leaks ... The drain plug is softer material than the threaded insert in the pan , Therefore if you have to remove the plug all the way out with a wrench , it's to late and you need a new drain plug , as the threads on yours have started to roll and distort .... Glenn
  17. It all boils down to how the vehicle is driven and maintained period . I had a 81 celica coupe that I got 170k out of the OE clutch , and the car turned 450k without any major issues . I've seen folks destroy new cars/trucks in less than 20k , and them folks that buy a Hyundai excel new for 4 grand and get 300k out of it with good driving and maintenance habits . Engineers today design every component to take virtual life cycles to just past the warranty period . Based on what are considered normal conditions . Hence all the plastic and cheap components in all new vehicles . and alot of pieces these days are just flat disposable .... There is just no money to be made for the manufacturers by building steel and long life components ... The days of the 55 Nomad and 66 Mustang are long gone ... Vehicles have just become a means to a end , Major appliance's for most folks these days ... Grumpy old mechanic rant over now ....:) And I actually bought my bare bones 1500s 'cause it is just about the most BASIC vehicle you can buy new these days , and it is quite stout ,almost overkill for my intended purpose/ use . So I expect to get at least 3 or 400k out of mine without any major issues ... Glenn
  18. I'd say thats fair market value , as long as there is some service history and a lack of abuse ... Glenn
  19. There is what some would call a "inertia" switch/ rachet in the seat belt roller assembly . It reacts to guick pulls/tugs on the shoulder/reel end of the belt . Yours may be a little sensitive . Adjusting the buckle across your lap a little loose and raising the shoulder slide adjuster to lesson the the angle may help . Or you can clip a clothespin at the top so she has some slack in the shoulder strap . But in reality , the seat belt is functioning as it should ! Try adjusting it correctly first , and if that doesn't help take it to your dealer , you may have a hyper sensitive catch ... Glenn

Do you know what the offset on your rims are ? looks slick :) Glenn
  21. The Sprinter / freightliner/mercedes is assembled in Ladson , a few miles from me ... Just knowing the Quality of the local work force , I'd never own one ....
  22. I installed a Rostra system in mine and it wasn't worth the effort . poor performance and would throw tps codes and put the van in limp mode . I do better with my foot ... Glenn
  23. Look around here , I have posted a diagram and terminal lay out in the gallery . The base radio has four channels , but the base harness only has terminals for the front channel . The male pins are in the radio , but the female pins are not in the harness side plug . You can add them and have the sound of music ....:) Glenn
  24. I did mine the other day too , And even though the shops snap-on tpms tool was sitting on my toolbox , I did it EXACTLY as stated in the owners manual ... It does work , you just need a good tire gauge and some compressed air and a dose of patience . Glenn
  25. I can see no mirrors in the NV cargo (mine) , But the NVP should have them for the soccer mom's !!!! Glenn
