  1. The lights are on but nobody's home. Spam posts have been on here for weeks. Is there only one moderator? How do we get a new one
  2. You could try switching to 10w-30 instead of 5w-30, at least in the summer. Did it start consuming oil just all of the sudden? You could take a look at the pcv system and see if there is any gunk in there. Hopefully others with the 5.6 will chime in.
  3. I have the 4.0, but I'm curious how much oil are you burning between changes?
  4. Welcome! I traded from a dodge half-ton pickup and I'm finding the NV a lot more useful. I absolutely love mine.
  5. I used a 2" lift from Advanced 4x4 in Salt Lake city Utah. They are a shop that outfits NV's and other vans for 4x4. If you call them up they will sell you just the lift components. Keep in mind this is a shop that mainly does fleet vehicles so selling parts to individual customers isn't their primary area of expertise, just have some patience. The parts have no instructions included, but its pretty straight forward and the same as any other IFS lift kit. I don't want to divulge the exact components out of respect for the place selling it, but its essentially coil spacers, lift blocks, and new U-bolts. You can use the stock shocks if they are in good shape. I don't know of anyone else that sells a lift kit for these vans.
  6. Love the NV in the pines photo. I tend to enjoy dispersed camping on national forest or BLM land & remote areas, more than campgrounds. As long as its not muddy I haven't had a problem with 2wd only. I'm loading the dirtbike up and headed to the mountains this weekend for some dispersed camping and trail riding. :happy feet:
  7. I know this is an old thread, but this is the method I use to haul my Road Glide around when I need to. I use to 6' aluminum ramps bolted together and a removable wheel chock in the van. I'll usually back up to a curb when possible so the van is lower to the ground to make it easier. I modulate the gas/clutch with the bike running and walk it up the ramp while standing next to it. I haven't gotten the courage to actually ride it up the ramp yet.
  8. That hepvo water-less P trap looks like a great alternative to the standard P trap. I used the traditional P-trap on mine and it wastes a ton of space under the sink.
  9. I called Advanced 4x4. They are running the stock shocks with zero issues. I feel kinda retarded now. He basically said you have to run the stock ones to limit the down travel/ droop of the axle or the break lines and abs sensor wires could get stretched. Anyways great comapany to work with and they were super helpful.
  10. Ive never heard of that 80/20 aluminum stuff what a great idea. Looks like it's coming along nicely. I like your solar set up, adding solar to my van will probably be my next endeavor.
  11. Great video, they did a really nice job on that conversion
  12. I made a bracket from scrap steel to extend the shock for the time being.
  13. Thanks Bamps! I'll check out both places you mentioned
  14. I installed a 2" lift kit today in the blistering sun, I love the way it looks now. I'm not trying to do the rubicon trail in this thing just wanted a little more clearance for dirt/back roads. No one manufacturers a lift kit for these but Advanced 4x4 will sell you the parts they use. Only issue I ran into was the rear shocks are not long enough. The top bushing is 3/4" ID which is an oddball size and I can't source them locally. Does anyone know what shocks work with this application? I'm going to try calling advanced on Monday.
  15. Thanks Ted really appreciate the feedback.
  16. Looks like there is another thread from a while back. http://nissannvforum.com/topic/533-gas-tank-protector-and-engine-skid-plate/ Nissan apparently makes one p/n: 508901PA0A
  17. Curious if anyone has seen or heard of someone manufacturing a fuel tank skid plate for the NV2500/3500 platform. To get to some camping spots I'm sometimes on some rough roads and it seems like the fuel tank could get damaged fairly easily. I might try making one out of 3/16 steel plate.
  18. Thanks! It holds about 6.5 gallons, I have a little 12v air compressor that plugs into it to pressurize it. I might do a tankless hot water heater and larger fresh water tank at some point to replace this but it works for now.
