  1. Are you looking at the passenger van or cargo van? This van is very comfortable to drive & very easy to work out of, if you're needing a cargo van. If you are looking for high gas mileage look elsewhere. These vans are designed for work, no matter whether you are hauling people or equipment, they handle the task well. Just realize that because it has the Nissan label on it, it does NOT mean it gets good gas mileage.
  2. Is there a section that is devoted to the NV van in the parts catalog? That parts catalog is for all Nissan vehicles. If you have to download it all, that's 5 gigs of data! Service manual is just for the NV
  3. I have the high roof. I love the ability to stand up in the back. No more duck walking in the back! The cabin feels more like my car rather than a work van. The ride is much better.
  4. The problem is with the sensors in the front passenger seats that are supposed to tell if an adult or a child is sitting on the seat. Because the risk of injury or death to child is greater from an airbag than from an accident itself, if the system senses there is not enough weight in the front passenger seats, that airbag will not deploy. The problem with the Nissans is that the sensors are shutting off the airbag even if an adult is in the seat. The cars being recalled are most of the best-selling Nissan and luxury Infiniti models from the last two years. They include the 2013-2014 Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder and Sentra, the model year 2013 NV200 cargo van that's also known as the Nissan taxi, the 2013 Infiniti JX35, and the 2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60 cars

  6. I have a NV2500 High Roof V8 but don't really notice any loud exhaust noise. Are you Sure you don't have a leak?
  7. I have 2012 & it has the MPG calculator. One thing I like is the monitor that tells you when you are low on fuel. It tells you approx. how many more miles you can go before running out. (just estimate) Do the 2013's still have that feature?
  8. Take a look at this thread for some nice ideas: http://nissannvforum.com/topic/303-home-built-nv-camper-conversion-video/
  9. If you change the oil filter it should take 7 Qts. Everybody has their own opinion about oil change frequency. If you are using a full synthetic oil & a premium filter like purolator pure one or NAPA Gold, you can easily go 5 - 6000 between changes with no worries. Premium oil filters are worth the price difference.
  10. That's one of those things you read when all else fails.
  11. There have been some pretty big snows in the Midwest, Central, & East Coast recently. Just wondering how your NV did in the snow? Please list your model/style of van. Did you have snow tires, stock tires, chains?
  12. I've had this happen too. Warmed the van up in the morning, went back out to leave for work & the van was locked. Fortunately I was home & got the other set of keys. The other night I forgot to lock it & when I came out the next morning it was still unlocked. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how this works. If there is, I sure haven't figured it out.
  13. I would think about a roof rack. You can even rent these at some uhaul rental places.
  14. When towing my 6000 lb trailer, combined with the normal 5-600 lb in the van, I have not noticed getting near the bump stops yet. The back drops maybe 2 inches when towing the trailer. If you feel your sitting too low in the rear you can add air bags or air shocks. They will also make the ride a little better as well. I used to have air bags on my old Chevy van & when I towed my 8000 lb travel trailer it rode very comfortably.

    2014?

Good question. I called Nissan a few months ago & asked them. Of course they would not answer me.
  16. Wollip- Right on! I enjoy driving my van now. When I had the old Chevy van, I would often jump in my car to go do a bid because the car got better mileage & was way more comfortable. Now I don't give it a second thought I just jump in the van, even though it still lacks in gas mileage, but the van is extremely comfortable to drive & I just enjoy it so much better.
  17. Hi Elfmaze I have the exact same van, same color. Nice job on the conversion. Just curious, what do you use the roof deck for?
  18. Sorry, I can't help with door lock issue since I've never experienced it. I too looked at the Sprinter when I got my NV. I didn't purchase a Sprinter for the same reasons you mentioned.A comparably equipped Sprinter is 10 - $15,000.00 more than a NV. Besides that, maintenance and repair costs are much higher. Granted you can easily put 300,000 to 400,000 miles on one. You may break even on total cost to own, if you put that many miles on one or keep it for 10 years or better.People cite the fuel savings as a reason to buy Sprinter, but if you do the math, it takes years to overcome the initial cost difference. Mercedes sure likes their engines & when you have to have maintenance done you will see how proud they are of them when you get the bill. You are also very limited on where you can get repairs done. If you're in a small town & need repairs, pray that the dealers only diesel mechanic is not on vacation or you could be sitting for a week. If you think about taking it to a tractor trailer repair facility, yes they probably have a mechanic that can work on it, but do they have parts? Although I do like the Sprinter, NV's have many many advantages over Sprinters.
  19. Glenn Do the cargo lights turn off too? I've had my cargo doors open for 10 - 15 minutes at a time & the lights are still on.
  20. Yea I miss this feature also. My old Chevy van had a nice push button switch to turn off all passenger & cargo lights. It was handy when you had the doors open for extended periods.

    Drivers seat

"it fells like my right butt cheek is sitting on a piece of steel" Hi Bigbruce. Either the right side of your butt is a lot bigger than the left (just kidding) OR you may have a problem with your seat. Does it feel that way sitting in the passenger seat? It could be that one of the springs in the seat is bowed or possibly broken and ready to impale you! I would have the dealer check it out. I'm 200 lbs & the seat is very comfortable to me. There's alot of cushioning there, (in the seat).
  22. I know a few on here have converted the cargo vans to passenger type vehicles. Seems like the suspension on the passenger version should be a lot softer. Unfortunately, Nissan probably put the passenger van on the same frame & suspension as the cargo vans. Like axulsuv said, taking a leaf spring out will help a little. You might could try a different shock but since you don't have much of a load, I don't think that will do much.
  23. dbly1850 I gotta hand it to you. You must be one tough old bird to handle those Cleveland winter nights without heat. You must have gel running thru those veins instead of blood!
  24. Sorry to hear you're having this problem. I would take it to a reputable body shop & ask if that seem can be re-welded from the inside. Not sure that would work or it may require some repainting after the welding. They should be able to fix it, but may require some body work.
