  1. I can fix anything with a hammer. It's the only tool I own!
  2. Hello Michaelp Follow the link to this page for more info on the upfit packages: http://www.nissancommercialvehicles.com/financing/incentives?tool=financing.regional.incentive.link Yes you do have to choose a package but you can add to it for at an additional cost. If there is only one or two items in a pkg you don't really need, get it anyway, its free. Advertise it for sale here or on ebay. If you need more than is offered in one of the pkgs, get the one closest to what you need & add to it. Look at the pricing on the optional items that are being offered. You only pay about 30 cents on the dollar, so GET IT NOW. That price is no good after the original install. The wing kit is standard on most pkgs. However you may want to get the MAX COMFORT wing kit, it cost extra. See this post: http://nissannvforum.com/topic/224-important-info-for-shelving-pkgs/. After getting my MAX COMFORT wing kit installed, the second installer said there are new shelves available now for the high roof models that are not advertised or in Adrians catalog. Find out who the Adrian Steel installer is that your dealership uses & call them direct to find out what you need & pricing. The dealerships don't have a clue about this stuff.

As others have stated go up the chain of command if necessary. It sounds like rail dust. It is only in the clear coat. This is a common problem with vehicles that are transported by rail. Why they don't cover them at the factory prior to shipping, I'll never understand. KMGLTZ is correct in that a clay bar will fix it, but I would let the dealer handle it. I had this happen on a new Mitsu Diamante i bought about 15 - 20 years ago. Here are my suggestions: 1. Find out if the dealer does body & paint work. If they do not, then they will not know how to handle this. 2. If dealer doesn't know what to do, make them send it to a detail shop that does know what to do. 3. Demand to talk to the detail shop owner BEFORE they send your van over to them. Ask how they will get the rail dust off. Many detail shops do not know how. If they suggest anything other than using a clay bar, don't let the dealer send it to them. All they will do is apply about six or eight coats of wax to mask the problem. In a few months the wax will be gone & the rail dust will still be there. Take it from me, someone who has been there and done that! A good professional detail shop can do this in very little time. Using a clay bar is the best & only way to remove rail dust without damaging your paint. It will work if the detailer knows what they are doing. I wound up doing this myself on the Mitsu Diamante I had. It took me awhile to figure out how to use the clay, but once I got the hang of it, it worked really fast & completely removed all the rail dust.
  4. Welcome aboard! I'm sure you're going to like it as much as I like mine.
  5. Elfmaze you are simply amazing! I thought Microsoft Windows was good at multi-tasking but it can't compare to your ability to " watch a movie or play playstation while driving from the back seats". You Da Man
  6. If you are working out of your van, nothing compares with an NV. If you are doing deliveries, some prefer the diesel engine of the Sprinter. Otherwise nothing compares! Look at all the videos on the NV website (also on YouTube). Then go drive a Ford, Chevy & Dodge. Then drive the NV. The NV turns sharper, has more interior room, better braking & stability. The quietness & comfortable ride of the NV is light years ahead of the rest. All the standard features that are designed for working folks aren't even available from the others. Yes they are a little more expensive than the Fords & Chevys but you get what you pay for. If you don't like crawling around on your hands & knees or duck walking in the back of your van then get the high roof. That is what sold me on the NV.
  7. When I'm wearing shorts, every time I get out of my NV2500 I pull the Lumbar adjustment knob off the the side of the seat. The bottom of my shorts catches the knob & jerks it off. I have to search the parking lot for it. Luckily it just snaps back on. Does this happen to anybody else?
  8. Its usually an alignment problem. Had the same issue a number of years ago on a brand new Mitsubishi Diamante. GoodYear Eagle GA's wore slap out (saw tooth pattern) at 5000 miles. Really don't know how I got so lucky. Those tires were noisy & rode terrible from day one. Dealer prorated them, & I got some Michelin Symmetry tires put on. Quietest & most comfortable set of tires I ever owned. Dealer said it's not uncommon for transporters to winch new vehicles down too tight on one side during transport which can mess up the alignment.
  9. How do you wax that area above the windshield? I have an 8 ft step ladder & I'm 6 ft tall but still can't quite reach the center. I can get about 75% of the way from each side. What I wound up doing was using my DA polisher to spread the wax. I could reach the center by holding out the polisher with one arm while holding onto the edge of the van with the other while on my ladder. The only way I could get the wax off was to wrap a towel around a 18" long wheel brush & lean over while on the ladder Acrobatics are not my strong point. Anybody else find a better way to do this?.
  10. Just started towing with my 2500 V8 High Roof. My van has the factory installed tow package. I tow a 16 ft tandem axle, enclosed trailer weighing between 6000 & 6500 lbs depending on equipment I have loaded. The tongue weight is approx. 700 - 1000 lbs. depending on equipment I have loaded. Here are my first impressions: When I first hooked up, it was nice to see that the van only dropped 2 inches from the tongue weight. This is only a 3/4 ton van so I was a bit concerned. I don't believe I will need any type of suspension support. Yeah! After adjusting my brake controller, I headed down the road. The V8 engine is very strong & handles the hills very well. The transmission shifts at just the right points while in tow mode. The trailer tows very smoothly. I get zero sway & so no need for sway control. The van rides & steers smoothly. The only complaint in this area is that when 18 wheelers blow by me on the interstate, I get pushed quite a bit from the draft. A lot more so than my Chevy 3500 van. I believe this is due primarily to the High roof. Low roof models may not have as much a problem. I like the brakes on this van much better than my old Chevy. They have a good grip & I feel more confident when braking. I'm going to have to get used to backing up. My old Chevy van was an extended van & didn't turn near as sharp as the Nissan. That is actually better & easier for backing. I'm going to have to get used to how fast & how sharp this thing can turn while backing. I have navigation in the NV & so the back up camera is great for seeing & aligning the hitch & ball when hooking up. The factory installed 7 pin electrical connector on the van is somewhat of a cheapo connector. I have to shove, jiggle, & sweet talk it into making contact every time I hook up. So far, I'm still in love with my NV! Hope this helps anyone who has towing questions. At the time I purchased mine, I couldn't find anyone who was hauling a large heavy trailer to get any feedback.
  11. I'm only about 55 miles away from Scott Clark. Nice to see they are an NV dealer now. Nice looking conversion! Didn't have the audio on when seeing the video, so don't know if they mentioned the price, but I'd hate to see the sticker price on that bad boy!
  12. What brand & model # of controller are you using?
  13. If you plan on adding a shelving pkg. which includes a partition (which by the way is free on all new 2012 & 2013's) you should know that there are 2 different wing kits available. The standard wing kit is only about 1/2" deep and gives you very little room in the passenger area. I ordered the 4519 standard shelving pkg. & when I saw it included a wing kit I thought " hey that's great". When you order a wing kit on a Ford or Chevy van there is only one wing kit & it pushes the partition 3 inches further back into the cargo area giving you more legroom in the passenger compartment. If your 6 foot tall or taller, trust me you want a 3" inch wing kit or you'll be sitting with your knees under your chin. With Nissan you have to ask for the MAX COMFORT WING KIT and it costs $80.00 extra. IMPORTANT: IF YOU DON'T REQUEST THIS AT THE TIME OF THE ORIGINAL INSTALL YOU WILL PAY BETWEEN $200 & $400.00 EXTRA. I learned this the hard way. Here is a photo from the Nissan website showing the 3" deep MAX COMFORT WING KIT:
  14. I haven't seen the issue here. I'll look more closely in the coming days. Here where I live should be a good test ground. It has rained about 24 of last 30 days. I have noticed that when I'm driving in the rain, I can hear the water splashing around the side door like someone turned on a fire hose. It is terribly loud.
  15. Thanks bachex That looks like about the only place but I was worried about the same thing, would I keep knocking it with my leg.
  16. Just got my new 2012 NV2500 SV V8 High Roof. If you are in the market now is the absolute best time to buy. The 2014's will be out within a few weeks. There is already a $1000.00 rebate on the 2013's. If you want a really good deal look for a new 2012. There are a few still left in inventory but you have to search for them. There is a $2000.00 rebate on them right now. I just got a little over $5200.00 off the MSRP on mine. (the $5200.00 included the dealer keeping the $2000.00 rebate)
  17. Where did you mount your brake controller? The left side of the dash has the fuse block & hood latch button. It appears that the right side has the OBDC connection just above the gas pedal (correct me if I'm wrong). I didn't pay attention when I mounted my last one on my Chevy van & I put it right above the OBDC connection & every time I went to get an inspection they wanted to remove my brake controller. What a hassle. That only leaves just to the right of the steering column. I can't see or reach it very well there. Where did you mount yours?
  18. Let me start by saying I have many allergies & the cabin filter is a real blessing. A huge thanks to tmbrook for pointing this feature out. Yes the filter that fits the Nissan GTR fits perfectly. At O Reilly Auto parts they sell the Micro Guard # 3696 that fits perfectly. O Reilly's website says the WIX 24479 & the Fram CF 10743 also fit though I can't confirm for sure. To put the filter element in requires that you remove the glove box. That means you must remove the lower portion of the dash that the glove box is mounted in. I've attached some pics to help explain this. This is the lower dash area with the glove box removed. This is the front of the dash where the 7 screws are located. The 2 arrows in the middle are for the 2 screws inside the glove box on both sides of the metal catch: Once you have the dash out, the filter box is right above the fan motor. Remove the cover by pressing the plastic clips on each side as marked: Insert the filter with the directional flow arrow on the side pointing down. That's pretty much it. Just put everything back together. When putting the dash back together, there is a plastic lip that runs down the entire right side of the dash piece that you removed. It sticks out only one eighth of an inch. This lip will tuck under your black rubber weather stripping for the door.
  19. Can you get your High Roof thru a fast food restaurant drive thru?
  20. Yea I kinda thought about this before I bought mine. You can't really appreciate how tall these things are until you stand beside one. I don't believe you will find a automatic car wash anywhere that is safe unless you have a truck stop near your house. Some of the do it yourself car washes have high bays around my house. I guess it's one of the few drawbacks to a high roof. I use a mop bucket on wheels & have a truck wash brush on a wooden pole to wash mine. Top of the roof is still hard to reach without a ladder. Spring thru fall isn't bad. Winter's the pits. In some ways you're better off though. Car washes use strong chemicals that quickly deteriorate your wax & the brushes or shammies put micro scratches in your paint.
  21. No dealers near me, so have not seen one yet. Can you turn off the lights in the cargo area if you have the doors open? My Chevy has a button on the dash that I can turn off the the lights if I need to keep the doors open for a long time.
  22. Hmmmmmmmm. I smell a rat here. Nissan will probably want $500.00 for fluid & filter change!
