  1. It appears that you have the 3500 1 ton model. These are designed to haul very heavy loads. If you don't haul very heavy loads the stiff suspension will be much firmer than a passenger van / minivan. Do you have the passenger version or the cargo version?
  2. the manual I have, shows the two main body harnesses & I can't see a connection for the rear sonar sensors. My information may not be complete. This is on a diagram for upfitters. Maybe someone else has more complete manuals.
  3. Actually, commercial rates are usually lower than passenger rates if you have other commercial insurance with the same company. My NV2500 V8 SV is worth about $10,000.00 more than my passenger vehicle. My commercial insurance on the NV is cheaper.
  4. Nice setup! Would be a great way to travel the country & see the sites. Personally, I'm into RV'ing. This would be a very nice versatile , easy to park RV. He probably saved a bundle doing this himself.
  5. Problems like that can drive you crazy. Glad you found the problem. You expect something new to work the way it was intended.
  6. I was thinking the same thing as Tatunka. If you had different tires & still the same problem, it might be the wheels are out of round. Did you have the problem with the factory wheels?
  7. Hmmmmmm! Good question. I would still think you could get it. That is unless you took the extra rebate. You could get a $750.00 additional rebate if you didn't take one of the shelving pkgs. or the graphics pkg. You're probably going to have to go thru the dealer you purchased it from. However the dealers know zilch about these upfits. If they say you can't get it now, I wouldn't stop there. You can contact Nissan customer care & ask them also. If they agree to install it now, you need to do your homework on what is available because the dealer knows absolutely nothing. Don't trust anything they tell you. Trust me, you already know more than they do. One thing I know for certain, you need to get it right the first time they do the install. If you request any change, add on, etc., after the initial install your screwed because Nissan won't pay a dime & your cost will go up 10 times the price listed on the Nissan website. So do your homework on what is available and what you want & get it right the first time.
  8. I always like to think forward. What will I need down the road? Based upon your current needs I would get the 2500 with a V6, It will handle hauling your bikes quite easily with a little better mileage than the V8. I don't think the 1500 is available in the high roof. Besides the 1500 are very lite duty. The V6 2500 will tow up to a 7000 lb load. I have a 2500 V8 & tow a 6500 lb trailer on a regular basis & hardly know it is back there.
  9. Welcome aboard. Mine sure makes my work life much better.
  10. Glad you found it. Electrical issues can drive you crazy trying to find the problem.
  11. Sorry to hear some of you guys are having issues with shifting. Please keep us all updated as to how Nissan handles these issues. It would be nice to know what caused the problem & what the fix is for future reference for everybody..
  12. Thanks for the link. I haven't looked lately, it's nice to see it there now. Hope this helps somebody who's trying to decide on shelving.
  13. Yea Nissan doesn't explain it very well. I shopped a bunch of dealers before I bought mine & none of the dealers knew anything about the shelving packages. I took mine back to another installer to get the max wing kit put in & the Adrian Steel dealer said this is all new to Nissan & their dealers. He said they're not quite up to speed yet. He also said Adrian Steel now has some shelving for the high roof models that utilizes the extended height. It is new & not on the Adrian Steel website or in their catalogs yet. Nissan ought to jump on that & put info about it on their website.

    Mother's attic?

Looks like you could store quite a bit up there. I think another advantage would be the heating & cooling aspect. With that lower roof in the cab area it would help hold heating or cooling in the passenger area, that's part of the purpose of the upper part of the partition. Maybe Nissan will take a cue from Dodge on this on make it available in future models. Keep looking in the aftermarket sector & maybe someone will make a kit.

    Mother's attic?

I see what you mean. I guess it depends on how you use your van. If you get a partition installed between the passenger & cargo area, that overhead storage is not accessible from the cargo area anyway. So I think that may be why Nissan designed it the way they did. Most of the cargo vans I've seen over the years have some sort of shelving in the back with a partition between the cargo & passenger compartments. That doesn't mean it works for everyone. Carpet installers usually don't like them because they need the extra floor space.
  16. You would be surprised how much more room the 3" gives you. I'm alot more comfortable now after I had the Max Kit installed. I'm 6'0". I guess I recline my seat back more than most folks. But if you're 6'2", I wouldn't even consider the standard wing kit.
  17. The seat may go all the way back (can't remember for sure) if you can sit up stick straight. Don't know too many who would like that position. The Max Comfort Wing Kit only takes up 3" of room in the cargo area. I have had both & definitely don't miss the 3" of cargo room. The passenger compartment is way more comfortable now that I have the max comfort kit. Even my wife who is only 5' 6" tall couldn't find a comfortable position in the passenger seat with the standard partition. Her knees were fairly close to the dash when she pulled her seat far enough forward to recline the seat back a little bit. If you're short, or can sit in a 90 degree vertical position & feel comfortable, the standard kit may work for you.

    Mother's attic?

There is overhead storage on the high Roof. Three or 4 separate compartments. See NV website for pics.
  19. Hate to hear it. It should be a warranty issue, but nonetheless frustrating. Hope they find the problem & get you back on the road quickly. Let us all know what the problem was & the fix, just for future reference for the rest of us..
  20. Storage area should be about the same as your Ford unless you get the High Roof. There are new shelving & storage packages available for the high roof models that are so new that they are not in the Adrian Steel catalogs yet. They are made to utilize the extra height. If you are the user of the van you may like the High Roof Model. It's the most important thing that sold me on the NV. No more duck walking in the back! You will appreciate more passenger room & the smoother ride of the NV. Go to Nissan's Commercial vehicle website to see videos of all the features that are available. If your an electronics/Security installer I would imagine a 2500 V6 would suit your needs unless you haul or tow heavy loads. Fuel economy is on par with comparable Ford & Chevy vans. Just search the forum here. It has been discussed many times. Sometimes people think "Nissan" & expect 40 MPG because of their passenger vehicle reputation. These are commercial vehicles & are made for work. If you are thinking better fuel economy you will be very disappointed. If you look at the Nissan Commercial Vehicle website you will quickly see who Nissan is marketing these vehicles to: The people who actually use them. Nissan has practically ignored the large fleet market. Nissan built these vans for the comfort & convenience of those of us who who work out of our vans every day & want something better than the basic transportation that has been offered in the past by Ford, Chevy & Dodge. The above post will probably be the best indicator of reliability. These vans have only been out for 2 years. Too early to really tell what maintenance costs & reliability will be. I'm personally banking on Nissan's past reputation in passenger vehicles. They have been very reliable. Hope I'm right!
  21. Good to know. The worst thing that can happen to you is to have a claim of some sort after you have been paying for several years & the insurance company says it's not covered or you didn't have enough coverage.
  22. I have 2012 NV2500 SV High Roof & the door speakers work on it. I noticed yours are wired so I assume there is some problem with the speakers. Call Nissan Customer Care & ask about it or take it back to your dealer.
  23. I'd like to know more about this too. Any details?
  24. Shift points seem to keep the rpm up so the engine doesn't drag. Engine seems to be "friskier" while towing. Someone smarter than me needs to answer this. I'll assume that you just can't wire into the tranny. I'm guessing it is controlled by the on board computer that creates the shift points. Hopefully someone will answer that knows for sure.
