John R Sortman Posted October 12, 2016 I have a 2012 NV2500 high top. I routinely pull a trailer and total around 11,000 lbs loaded. At 43,000 miles I'm due for new brakes and was wondering if anyone has upgraded to heavy duty or not. Or any recomendations on what to put on it. Thanks. whitebread250 Posted October 19, 2016 John, I upgraded my 3500 before going back to Colorado this year. Last year the brakes got hot and started pulsing on the long grades, downshifted but still too much grade. I went with EBC yellow stuff pads and vented and drilled front rotors from R-1 concepts. It was around 430.00 bucks shipped to the house. This really made a difference in distance and feel! It stops so much shorter than before. I use EBC on my dirt bikes so I knew how well they performed in that environment. I would try the pads for sure, but the combo really did the job in the mountains this time. I will post a couple of pics. Hope this helps. 4 andy_george, WanderlustAV, wollip and 1 other reacted to this
sampson Posted April 12, 2017 (edited) Hey, thanks for this post and pictures. Are they still performing well for you? Any chance you have the model number of the discs handy? I can't find them online with my local EBC dealer...Thanks! Edited April 12, 2017 by sampson
whitebread250 Posted April 14, 2017 Sampson,I got all of it from R-1 concepts. The part number of the rotors is EDS644115. They were not EBC rotors, I think they were Eline, I have not changed the back yet, but you can definitely tell a difference with just the front. 1 sampson reacted to this
Nissaron Posted April 14 I am also interested in upgrading the brakes on my 2015 nv3500 high roof. They're mechanically fine but don't seem as effective/efficient as even my (former) 2013 nv2500. I was just wondering if there are any updates/new suggestions since the last post here is seven years old. Also how the hell is 2017, seven years ago?! Thanks yall! Local Apparent Friday Posted May 8 Tons of options listed on Rockauto. I just ordered the heavy duty AC Delco variant, as 95% of my travel has become towing bikes, but I haven't installed them yet, they just arrived yesterday.
Nissaron Posted May 8 Ah yes! Rockauto... I've only heard ads for the site and just checked it out for the first time (that I remember anyway). It seems very detailed and thorough, but it all seems like brake hardware pieces (as opposed to whole new sets of brakes). I'm sure it's user error... any advice? Thanks for the reply! WanderlustAV Posted July 22 I had a shop do fresh brakes and rotors for me not quite a year ago. Went with the heaviest duty "service" option, which I believe is coated. Anyways, the braking is now excellent on my built out NV3500. Only downside is the service duty pads squeal a lot. The shop said I'd have to swap back to OEM to get rid of the squeal which sounds like a waste of good pads. Just something to watch out for; brake upgrade is definitely worth it but noises where they don't belong always bother me personally. 1 radin2son reacted to this
