Steelcraft stx600 from autoanything. I never added the rear bracket, only my kids step back there.

The stickers along the underside of the rocker panels? Those shouldn't be getting any heat from the exhaust. They are vhb type stickers to seal the holes in the frame from moisture. Must be different foil than what I've seen
-
Those look identical to mine, there is no drilling g required, but I will say the very back of the passenger side needs another bracket added to what they send you.

My guess is a combo of stop and go driving on the v6. I bet a long highway trip it would be better. It's a lot of weight for any engine to move, toss on an extra 3/4 of a ton and it's a huge amount of weight. I have the V8 3500 sl and I averaged about 15 on a road trip with under 3000 miles on the car. I get about 12 around town. I have the same trip coming up over the summer, I'll check my mileage again. I stopped so I would worry about it. It's not a huge deal to me, I love the van.

Probably not a bad idea to run a can anyway. I have to warn you it might set off the check engine light. I had it do that on my Camry, it fouled the EGR filter with gunk it blew out.

STP is a waste of money. BG44K was recommended to me by several mechanics. I use it in all my cars every 20k miles. It's pretty cheap on Amazon, or you may have a local dealer.

They hold their value because the used market is thin and Nissan doesn't offer dealer incentives and rebates. The same reason they won't wheel and deal much

Transmission Fluid change and clunking when stopped!
mk1_62 replied to Dantil's topic in Nissan NV 3500 HD
A clunk many times can be related to suspension as the weight of the vehicle shifts. Check the control arms especially. -
Heck, the turning radius kills a lot of drive-thrus for me.

Congrats, where are you located? Part of me wishes we had waited for the 2017s, but they just took so long to roll out. We'd have had to take the minivan on the long journey to Philly, no thanks. Also we got the tax write-off went against our 2016 taxes, so that was nice too.

I would love to see more options on this van, but I don't think the sales numbers would dictate a lot more time and effort going into it. This is a niche vehicle, and I feel Nissan will sort of treat it like that. The cargo version is by far more popular, so I could see changes there that could trickle over to the passenger version. I agree though that a few more interior amenities and this van could easily be in the mid $50s and frankly a very nice high end vehicle.

It's on my list, I bought it to tow a boat in the future. And I mean a boat, something the other vans can't pull. 5000 lb towing is pushing it with most boats with the trailer and at least a 115hp motor

We had an 89 Chevy conversion van growing up, I'm 37 also. I bought my uncle's 91 Chevy conversion about 13 years ago for towing a boat. I finally sold that after it's been sitting for the last few years. My wife has a minivan and I had a Camry as my daily driver. I needed something that I could throw plywood or building materials in for weekend projects or just haul all 3 kids in car seats on long trips. The sienna just feels a bit cramped after a few hundred miles. I agree, these things are a better choice than large SUV's and leagues ahead of the competition in features and towing for a family van. I test drove them all and the Nissan is the only van I would even think about right now.

I'd say it's overkill. Newer engines don't shed metal like old ones. I've noticed filters getting smaller and smaller over the years. Just do some research and buy a good filter, most are wex brand just repainted. When that one company took the van 800k with no engine problems, I would say we're ok.

They come with a rubberized coating on the passenger version, maybe you could add some on yours if it doesn't come that way.
-
What? That's crazy. I do this all the time in my other cars. I guess not anymore in this one.
-
I drove that stretch of 81 through the mountains with high gusts and it was fine. A little hard to hold a lane, but I never felt the need to pull over.
-
That's a new one. I would say ours is very easy to steer and keep straight.
-
I wouldn't want to take it much over 80. It's a huge vehicle to stop and manuvers at that speed would be iffy.

I thought I read something about them being maxed out at 90. I wouldn't want to take this thing much past that honestly.

The mileage can be pretty rough honestly. Just try not to have a lead foot. I am trying out non-ethanol gas to see how it stacks up. I am about halfway through the first tank.
