  1. Thanks for letting us know your past experience, camping and photography. No wrong way to do this, just"what was I thinking" and improvements . Now you just have to go drive a NV.
  2. Check Cargo, Hauling & Towing to get a general idea what you can tow and what you need to tow safely. You also should check Introduce Yourself... for posts asking the same question.
  3. No Moss, Have you prior experience with car/truck camping/travel? The big disadvantage when camping in a NV or any other camper van for extended periods is you have to pack it up every time you want to explore. I would be tempted to keep your 4Runner, add a roof top camper and/or a small off road camper or utility trailer to use as a base camp. 60k will go a long way to restore your “older” 4Runner, if needed, and add a trailer. adventure-journal.com (Overlandia) has a new article on a US couple who wanted a 90s Toyota Land Cruiser and ended up with a 90s Land Rover Defender. Both vehicles had extensive use in Africa. Good read. Have you considered used? conversiontrader.com and sportsmobile.com have used vehicles. No NVs however...
  4. Before the New Titan, the rumor mill suggested NV frame was developed for the Titan. True? More likely, r&d wanted a frame for both like most modern platforms. To PM someone, click on the login name to get to their profile page, then click on personal message and send your message. It will go to their email address as a message on the forum. Go to likes leaders and KMG is there and you will get his profile. You will need to go to the full site if you are using your phone. It’s just easier...
  5. Advanced has been converting 2017-18 NVs (new engine and transmission) for quite awhile. Quigley delayed converting these years until just recently. Why? The main question about the all Titan conversion is how many have been built. Then there is quality and reliability. Read KMG’s posts. He no longer has his Quigley NV, but he drove his from Missouri to the northwest and back. There are Advanced owners as well. Many no longer post, but may respond to a PM. Good luck on your search.
  6. Welcome. First thing to do is scroll down to “New 4x4 owner” then check out posts regarding Advanced and Quigley. The consensus regarding the basic NV is that it is one tough truck. Few issues to worry about and an excellent warranty. Even those of us who took a chance on new 2012-13 NVs with a 36k warranty have had little to complain about. One issue to consider is the scarcity of NV commercial dealerships particularly in the west.
  7. I had trouble getting the Campendium app to work and used their web site. Their moderator got back to me right away to sort it out. Didn’t help but that could be me etc. He did say their long term goal is for the app to work offline without downloading. Too expensive at this point. Most app descriptions aren’t clear if they work with gps only. Quick way to find out is put your phone on airplane mode and try them out, well at least the free apps. Most can be upgraded for $$.
  8. Here are a few apps: REI CO-OP National Parks. No cell service needed. REI put this together in 2016 for national Parks 100th anniversary. Still adding parks. Campendium. Requires cell service. Mostly RV orientation but good site. Particularly useful when looking for public land access and free sites. Also has reviews. AllTrails for hiking. No cell service needed. We decided to go to Pinnacles later this month using REI’s app and used Campendium to find Sawtooth, a free BLM site south of Barstow. Add other apps you may use...
  9. Unauthorized personnel reveal Nissan will delay introduction of NV400 (Renault Master) with 2.3L diesel engine with 6-speed manual or semi-automatic, available in fwd, rwd or awd. Instead, Nissan Commercial in 20/20 will only offer Frontier (S), Titan (S) and NV1500 (S). Titan will retain its V8, while Frontier and NV1500 will be powered by a 1.5L turbodiesel. Rumors say the real reason is Infinity’s need for a luxury truck, Qt35, to go with its luxury passenger van, Qv35. All available packages and options will be shared. Source: April Fuel
  10. For some reaso, I thought you were in SLC or somewhere in Utah...
  11. Time to update this as well: Arizona Stuttgart Autohaus (Tucson) Sandy’s West RV Center (Tucson) Idaho Bruneel (various locations) Les Schwab Tires (various locations) Summit Auto Glass (Eagle)
  12. Welcome. Cabin room and V8 sold us as well vs Eseries. Also, the Ford was too tall to fit into our car port. Needless to say, MB was way beyond our means... How do you plan to use your NV?
  13. Welcome. Nice kids you have... When you get a chance post some photos of your NV in action. Also, let us know what you think of the 2 dealers in your area, particularly their service.
  14. Time to update this list. New owners and new experiences. Don’t be shy about using dealer name and location. This after all is positive...
  15. Welcome. Let us know what you think of the dealer. It helps when we are traveling and need service...
  16. Is that Ken Garff Nissan? 5 years ago, they were 1 of 8+ dealers who sold NV Sportsmobiles.
  17. It has been awhile since we last ventured out, in part due to cold/wet weather elsewhere and we had to put our second dog down in January. Since we had family business (find 2 misplaced headstones) to take care of in southern AZ, we decided to make it a camping trip rather than a day trip. So we returned to Chiricahua National Monument via Fort Bowie Historical Site. Fort Bowie is on the Butterfield Overland Mail route between St Louis/Memphis and San Francisco. The fort was built to control Apache Pass and Spring. No camping and it is a 3 mile round trip hike to the fort. Little remains unlike Fort Davis, also on this route in west Texas. Dogs are welcome on the trail. 6 miles of maintained dirt road off 181 from Willcox or 12 miles of partly paved road from Bowie on I-10. We camped at Bonita Canyon campground for the only 3 nights we could reserve. Reservations are a must for the 24 sites. Maximum trailer length is 26’. We had site 5, 22’, but actually more like 25’+. Back in and it was level. We were there to hike and weather was perfect. There also is a morning shuttle 0900 and 0945 to take hikers to the top to hike down. Have to sign up for the 14 passenger van, which we missed. We hiked to the top and intended to hike back down. About half way up, we met our camping neighbors who left one of their trucks on top. They gave us the keys and drive their new GMC pickup down the mountain. Great ride but way too fancy... Although this trip was bittersweet, we did get to use the back seat and not have to pack up dog food etc. More room, and we had to reconfigure packing. Still working on this in preparation for some longer trips this spring and summer.
  18. Welcome. The NV1500 should be the sweet spot for Nissan. Tough affordable truck...
  19. If you get over the negative buying experience, (most are but not to this degree), and you like the results, give us a quick review. Curious how you plan to use your current van.
  20. Quietriot, was this their “Titan” 4x4 NV conversion or one by Advanced? 6” lift? TD’s web site doesn’t revel much beyond doing their own 4x4 conversion. If you have one, you may have an early conversion depending on how many they have done. Doesn’t excuse anything. Actually, they should have “gone beyond...” to make you an ambassador rather than a detractor. When will sales and service get the power of the internet? Hope things turn out well. Mark Rogers, How is their service department? I’ve given up on the 1 commercial dealership in Tucson and use an independent shop. My main complaint has been they don’t know you or your vehicle.
  21. Welcome. Looks like like you have quite the van. Is this a commercial dealer in Varies, Other that we need to avoid?
  22. Probably no harder than a Class B rental, with much less to go wrong. Mainly shows what good maintenance will do.
  23. Depends on: Price? Make? $$$$ to throw at it? ConversionTrader.com seems to be the place to sell and buy campervans. No NVs on this site but plenty of GM and Sprinter vans. Vans don’t stay on the site for long. Their latest offering was interesting. Six 2012 JUCY campervans, based on Dodge Caravan passenger van, with 200k on them starting at $6000. For those not familiar with the green and purple poptop/clamshell rental campervans, they are all over the west. Great starter campervan, seats 5, sleeps 4 with all you need to travel. Who knew you could get that many miles out of them. Even if there were problems, $6000 leaves a lot in your wallet... I’m not sure I would buy a NV200 with this mileage, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a well used NV. Not likely you would find one under $10k.
  24. That’s what it is. Check the manual to see if you can reset it. It may have to be reset by the dealer or an independent shop can do this. (Wonder if the quick lube places can?) just have them pick a service interval that works fo you
