  1. I was at my dealer a few weeks ago for service and I ran into the guy that sold me my NV. We talked for a bit and I asked what gives? Why are they canceling my favourite passenger van. He told me that the van is going back in to production after a 2 year hiatus. Is this true? Has anybody else heard something similar? Or is this just wishful thinking? Im still in love with my NV by the way after 4 years it’s still running strong. Sure there are a few things I’d change but I’d still take it over any other van on the market. take care everyone
  2. My right front brake caliber is sticking and making the van pull to the right. The van is only a little more than a year old. Will this be something the warranty will cover or a I going to be getting a big bill for this?
  3. I wonder if there is someway to drape something over the top of the van. Stopping the rain from hitting the hard steel roof would be the best way to isolate the noise. Problem is whatever you put up there would be soaked unless you could park under a tarp. Might be hard to do with a high top though. Nvdad81
  4. My insurance classes my nvp as a bus. Maybe when motor trend does a special bus issue we will see the nv in action.
  5. That sounds pretty easy, I think it's within my ability. Thanks asd dad Nvdad81
  6. Does anyone have any pictures or a video of how to install a trailer brake controller? I'm thinking of doing it myself if it's not to complicated. Thanks Nvdad81
  7. I had a problem with the alignment in my 2017. Unfortunately just like any business, a production line is only as good as its worst worker. Maybe the guy that assembled your sliding door was doing alignments the day my van was built. Every business has them, the slack worker that doesn't know what a good job is, and everything is " good enough" to them. Glad it was resolved. I work in the new housing industry and it's my job to fix problems after the homeowners move in. I'm guessing car production is similar, the vehicles are thrown together quickly, people try to do a good job but some issues slip through, and it's left to the dealers to resolve any problems. It's frustrating but if every vehicle was meticulously gone over to make them perfect production would grind to a halt. That being said, glad you bought this van, it really is a awesome vehicle. It is the best heavy duty vehicle I have ever driven, and defiantly my favourite that I have ever owned.
  8. Just wondering if anyone has done anything to protect from rust? I'm going to get our nv undersprayed for rust protection, and I'm wondering if it will do anything to ruin the factory rustproofing or if it will actually help? I'm planning on keeping this van until the doors fall off, so anything I can do to keep it looking great for as long as I can will help. Thanks Nvdad81
  9. Wow! That was quite the accident. Glad everyone was safe. Looks like the nv does quite well in an accident. Still would like to see a actual crash test video though. I think those side airbags do a lot to keep the passengers safe. Nice job Nissan! Nvdad81
  10. Being the perfectionist I am I still felt that they van could handle better. Anyways I checked my front tire psi because an overinflated tire can cause the steering to be a bit sloppy and I found the fronts and backs to be at about 85psi. I dropped the front tires to about 60psi and bam! The steering is great! There is actually a small amount of resistance to turn the wheels which means the tire footprint is wider. I know the door says 50 psi on the front and 80 on the back but I guess our dealer wasn't aware. Oh well to their credit our nv was the first one they sold. I figured the 50 psi on the fronts was for ride comfort but maybe there is more to it. Maybe the nvs long snout transfers more weight off the front wheels to the back than it's gmc and ford counterparts. Anyways still the best vehicle I have ever owned. My wife laughs at me still over how excited I am to drive it when I get the chance. Nvdad81
  11. I was just thinking the same thing the other day. It's in the way for the climate controls. Nvdad81
  12. I'm thinking more of a salute would be appropriate. I wonder what we would do when we see another nv. Seen a couple cargos no passengers yet. Nvdad81
  13. Nice. you got me. Nvdad81.
  14. So after a few tanks of mixed driving I have averaged 14-15 mpg. I did a straight highway drive just to check it out and I got about 17.5 mpg at around 60 mph. Not bad for 7000lb box on wheels. I love this van. Nvdad81
  15. I just went through this with my 2017 nv passenger. I could barely hold on to the thing in high winds. If it was winter weather I would have been in the ditch for sure. Anyways I took it back to the dealer and they found out that the front tires were out of alignment a fair amount. So that was corrected and it has made a world of difference. the van still gets blown around, but it can actually be controlled now. The way the steering in controlled on these big vans you need your alignment as perfect as it can be. Hope that helped. Nvdad81
  16. So the dealer called and said that everything was fine. Of course. But I pushed for them to do an alignment and both the front tires were out. So they corrected the front tires and it seems to have made a big difference. The van still has a tendency to sway at times but now I feel like I can bring it under control much easier now. My wife agreed that it is easier to handle now. The mechanics said that the type of gearbox used in the steering is a little sloppier than are used in their cars so it's never going to handle like a sports car. , Anyways as far as I'm concerned it's fixed and I really impressed with how well my dealer treated us. I'm officially back in love with my van. Nvdad81.
  17. Thanks for the info guys. I called my dealer today and they are going to look at it Saturday. I was impressed the mechanics worked on Saturday. So hopefully they can find something and fix it. Nvdad81
  18. I absolutely love my new nv passenger. Everything about it is better then I thought except one thing. It has taken me a little while to figure out that there is something wrong with the steering. it feels as if the steering doesn't want to correct unless I make a big correction then it seems to want to start going the other way. And if there is wind it feels like I'm swaying back and forth like a drunk person. Is this normal? Is the nv a sloppy driving vehicle? Or did I get one that has something wrong? I can't tell if it's a problem with the steering or if it's an alignment problem. I'm not going to say I'm an amazing driver but I have never had this much difficulty keeping a vehicle tracking straight. I've driven many different vehicles in my life from compact cars to cube vans and this is probably the worst. I really hope it's somethin that can be fixed. My wife feels the same way when she drives it so I know it's not just me. I'm going to contact my dealer tomorrow about it.
  19. IM interested in how fast these vans can go? Do the have a governor? I don't think I'll ever go that fast just wondering if anyone has an idea.
  20. I am concerned about how well the rear air will work on my van too. We just got it a week ago so it hasn't seen any warm weather yet. I'm interested what model you have? Ours is an sl. I think dark window tints are a must for this van. The sl has dark tints for the rear windows but I'm still putting dark tints on the front windows as well. Do you find that it starts to cool down after awhile? Or does it only blow hot air? I'm guessing that like my old minivan the cold air duct work is in the ceiling and if it has been sitting in the sun it take a while to blow cool air. It also needs a good amount of cold air rushing through those vents to keep them blowing cool air too. If the fan speed is to slow the cool air spends to much time in the duct system and gets hot by the time it comes out. The other problem might be that the rear system doesn't have its own ac unit. And in the situation it's better not to run the ceiling vents at all.
  21. Just finished my first tank of gas. I calculated an average of 15 mpg. I was actually really impressed considering all the idling and around town I did. Here's hoping for a little better when the warmer weather gets here. I usually average around 18 mpg with my minivan. Considering this van is 2600 lbs heavier that's really decent
  22. Welcome! As for gas mileage, always drive downhill. Nvdad81
  23. I'm not overly good at electrical. Maybe I'll talk to one of the mechanics at my dealer to see if they have any suggestions on how to do it. I'm interested in seeing it I can get a switch from another Nissan vehicle with a 3 position switch. Would be cool if it was even labeled on/off/door
  24. That sounds like a fun side project I think there is a blank switch space on the driver door side of the dashboard. Thanks Andy Nvdad81
  25. It's official! We picked up our 2017 nv passenger this afternoon. It is amazing. I'm so happy with it. Is rides so smooth. I can even tell it's a 3500 frame the ride is so soft. The new engine and transmission are awesome I'm hoping for decent mileage. All my kids love it, I can barely hear them in the back. But most importantly my wife felt comfortable driving it after only a few minuets. Well done Nissan!
