  1. Thank you everyone. We continue to have the problem with the door, though we've probably figured out the problem. We removed the door panel to view the mechanism. When you try to open the door, you can see all the little parts of the complicated mechanism working up until this last little cable that looks like it should move, but isn't moving. If you pull on that cable, the door will open. What we don't know is why that's not happening on its own, like it should. After manually pulling the cable, the door works for a while, then gets stuck shut again. Won't open from the inside or outside, acts like it's locked though it isn't (not the child's lock either and no rattletrap or insulation installed anywhere neat the mechanism, so not that). Go in, pull the cable, door works. This isn't a realistic solution as the door panel will eventually need to be put back on the door and we won't have access to the malfunctioning mechanism. I think we'll end up taking it to a dealer. We found a youtube video of a guy with a problem with this door, though his conclusion was different. I don't think I can post a link, but this is the title of the video, should be easy to search for on youtube: The Nissan NV Sliding Door Fix We went ahead and did that, but it doesn't seem to make a difference for us. Fixed it for him though. Apparently this door can have several different issues. I'll try to attach a photo of the cable that doesn't seem to be functioning properly.
  2. Hello everyone. I'm Jana and I bought a 2017 Nissan NV 3500 high top brand new a month ago. Using it to safely transport our rescue dogs and family circus show (Circus Stella, named after the dog!) We already have a problem. The sliding door won't open. We have no idea what happened. It was working fine, and now it's just not. It feels like it's locked, even though we're sure it's unlocked. It won't budge. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions of what to do? We have the manufacturer's warranty to fall back on (hopefully) but we added some sound deadener and insulation. That sort of thing won't void the warranty, will it? The van was SO LOUD in the back, we added some "rattletrap" to lessen the noise. That was simple and easy and has been on for weeks with no problems. I cannot imagine it has anything to do with the broken door. This is such a bummer. I've never had a new car before, and stuff like this is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by buying new.
