  1. I had a Transit. I would never recommend that vehicle. Great to drive, but way too many flaws. The list of TSBs is probably up to 100 by now. The NV has about 3, none of which will strand you. Can't help with the nomadic part. I only sleep in a vehicle when I'm knee walking drunk.
  2. What's needed to wake up this site is for Nissan to build crappy vans like the Transit. Then everyone will need the community knowledge base to address solutions to the design failures which plague those vans.

  4. They only photos I take are of print I have to zoom in to read. lol That thumbnail is all I have left of that Desmo image. The guy who took it is long gone. Maybe somewhere I have a bigger one. Made me famous for a 15 minutes.
  5. I've already crashed my 10r twice and it's still on break in oil. Track mule. We are getting back to it next month. Riverside county CA has ok'd track days and racing so Chuckwalla is on. Also Buttonwillow is apparently a go.
  6. If there was ever a time some wheeling and dealing could be done, it's right now. The 3500 in the highest trim level is still bare bones. You get a power drivers seat and a rudimentary alarm. The rest of it is about what you'd have had 20 years ago in a basic work truck. Probably because it's a basic work truck and needs haven't really changed. Whatever you do, don't spend extra on the radio upgrade. I got it for the XM feature and it's horrible at that, dropping signal constantly. The nav system is useless relative to something with real time traffic unless it's 2 am or there's a pandemic on. As for capacity, if you need more capacity than the 2500, I'd get the 3500 and be done with it. Why expend cash and energy when you can have it out of the box? Chrome trim is a non-factor. These vans (any vans really) are not prom queens. They'd be lucky to get picked up at closing time. "Lipstick on a pig" was probably coined for chrome trim on a van. Did I mention chrome trim is not on my list of must haves?

  8. The freeways are so wide open I can go as fast as I want. So, gas mileage is way down.

    Well enough to remove it. 2 screws and two harness plugs and she's in your hand. So even if the label is on top of it and out of view you can get a look at the numbers. Never had one out and quoting off the manual so you're on your own from here. Did you try peeking up from under the dash to see if the label was visible? Save a ton of work if it is. I'd be snaking my bore scope up in there before I tore the gauges off.

  13. Lotsa work but yes, you could do it. Respect if you do it. I can't even motivate myself to get floor mats.

  15. I suspect the fed warranty, unlike Nissan's, is retroactive.
  16. The fed 80k warranty covers to your vehicle, but I don't think it matters unless you fail a required emissions test.

  18. On the plus side, we could be driving vans in dire need of a support group for guidance on their innumerable flaws and failures.

  20. Wild guess: You have rear ac and those are the coolant hoses. Huh. Never knew it was green. How old is the van? Maybe somebody had an issue before and added dye to trace the leak. Probably just a failed O-ring seal. No risk in driving it, but I'd keep the AC off.
  21. Wow. Yours was really jacked up. Glad to hear it's fixed. I had posted that latch flip video then realized it was profoundly flawed advice. I got lucky and my fix was easy.
  22. Have you pulled on the cables that go to those latches?
  23. Not so much. It's a two step process. First deflate the tires to trigger the sensors. Starting pressure for the deflation step is not critical. After you adjust them to the listed pressures, the computer knows where each sensor is based on that. If you have trouble triggering the tires, maybe get winter rated ones. The little snowflake on the sidewall indicates "easy to trigger." lol
  24. You can get a tuner for it. Just google NV3500 tuner.
