Nothing NV related here, but just wanted to proclaim my happiness that Joey Logano won the NASCAR championship last night! I’ve always been a much larger fan of sports involving men and machines than sticks and balls, and I like to follow NASCAR when life allows. I’ve always been a big Roger Penske (car owner) fan with his Michigan roots, and that fact that we used Penske shocks in our motorcycle racing days. And being a Ford guy, I was happy to see one of the nicest guys in racing bring home the 2018 season championship driving a Ford.

I understand that ASD Dad and ducnut won’t be meeting for a beer anytime soon, but good conversation like this informs everyone who reads it, and for that, I say thanks! -
Good thinking. Lithium seems to definitely have advantages, but let others experiment while you wait for the price to come down over time

I know you’ve posted about this, but I forget..... are the drl’s on their own circuit, so just a simple fuse pull does it? -
Ok, if it was much lower I was gonna guess that a clogged converter would be pretty unlikely. But at the mileage it’s a possibility, but my guess it’s that it’s a bad sensor like Rad says. Good work, keep us updated.

How do they act with the stock wiring, with daytime running lights? -
Good posts. We have 4 girls and have loved our silver NV 3500SL since 2015. The value over any other “normal” vehicle is mountains better. And the looks aren’t perfect, I’ll admit, but I always like to say it was designed to fulfill a purpose, not “styled” to be something it’s not. Happy trails!!

I’ve had Progressive since day one and never had an issue. I did have to explain that it was purely for private use, but it was never talked about after that.

I have a 2007 Bunkhouse for sale that pulls perfectly behind and NV. Even sleeps 9! ;) -
Yeah, I just threw a $10 rug over the open slots for the rear seat when it’s removed. Is that an option for you?

I feel your pain, and understand your frustration. But don’t think it’s just Nissan that hikes the price of specialty parts you can’t find from a non-oem supplier. Every vehicle manufacturer, and everything else from recreational vehicles to lawnmowers, do the same thing. It’s just a fact of life. It doesn’t lessen the pain of paying what feels like *way* too much, but generally you can at least feel like you’re getting a high quality part.

Awesome info, thanks for sharing!

You have a wife and 4 daughters? So do I! I also have very little hair left.... same with you?! Lol! Welcome and congrats!

Some people love to dive in and provide trivial, never again needed answers to questions such as this. I am not one of those people, lol! Maybe someone else here is...?

The NV is a good tow vehicle. It has the mass, frame, suspension, and brakes to tow safely, given an experienced, skilled driver. The problem is that as tow vehicles have gotten more capable (many claim to be able to tow enough to affect the rotation of the earth) trailers have gotten much larger, longer, and heavier over the past 10+ years. So while the specs and ratings of the NV could pull most of the larger trailers from the early 2000’s, today that’s not the case. But I must say that the NV pulling a 10,000lb. trailer, while it is over it’s tow rating, seems safer to me than a new heavy duty pickup pulling a 20,000lb. trailer, which is within its tow rating. Physics don’t lie.... a tow vehicle weighing 6-7,000lbs. towing something over twice it’s weight hooked to the back bumper is treading on thin ice in an emergency maneuver.

I think it’s the cabin vent for when a door closes, as on most vehicles. That’s a guess, but it was always my belief that was it’s purpose.

Thanks for the photo flip ASD dad. I really wish I was better at that… The wheels are ultra motorsports from tirerack. Not sure the model name, or if they are still available. I really like them, and they have a high weight rating and are holding up very well after 4+ years. Someone on here has this same model wheel in black.... black wheels are growing on me, but I still prefer chrome for my rides. I’ll attach a picture because a wheel can be upside down and still look the same ;) -

Here’s ours! After it’s most recent polishing! And as always, it attaches upside down! -
66,000 miles on ours. Only thing I’ve done is changed a rear O2 sensor myself. We bought our previous GMC Savana at 60,000 miles and drive it to 120,000. In that time I had to work on damn near everything. I have a much, much better feeling about the NV.

DIY "Must Haves" for extended road trips?
andy_george replied to Daydreamin520's topic in Maintenance
It blows my mind how many trailers I’ve seen on the side of the road with blown tires this summer. It’s been a hot summer in Michigan, like most places it seems! The 8 Goodyear Endurance trailer tires I put on last year are still “new”, but seem to be wearing fine, squat much less, and give me confidence they are going to be a much better trailer tire than 95% of the cheap foreign tires put on trailers these days.
