Looking for advice on the NV as a large family hauler
andy_george replied to bbbb4's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
It works amazing as a large family hauler and tow vehicle. Three NVP’s in our tiny town. I think it’s a van that’s much better for family use than a Suburban-type for many reason, plus you save a bunch of $$$ to boot if buying new especially. Buy one quick and I think you’ll be very pleased for years to come! -
Just keep driving and don’t worry about it!

We are on our second NV windshield. Our CRV, which is 2 years newer, is on its third windshield in 3 years. I blame it on bad roads and just dumb luck. ?

Unless you find a real lemon, I’d have to agree that you’d be happiest with the NV, from a dependability standpoint. They’re really solid, issues seem to be few and far between, and when they do arise the NV is usually easier to repair than the unibody euro vans.

Does forum continue after 2021 demise of NVs?
andy_george replied to radin2son's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Good question Rad. I’m not sure Nissan has moved enough vans to keep a site like this alive and active. I’ve really enjoyed the last 6 years, but the low number of members and infrequent issues makes for some long boring weeks lol. -
I always loved the way the NV drives more like a pickup, as opposed to the new euro style vans or the older GM and E-series vans which shove the front seats right up to the motor and push the steer tires back. The NV just always seemed to track straighter and turn nicer, while allowing lots more room for the front seats.

We have a concession business, use the NV a lot for our smaller trailer. Weighs around 5500 pounds, and our V8 NV does awesome. I’d get the V8 if you’ll be pulling regularly for sure.

Same here. There may possibly be more profit in the Passenger morsels, but I sure see a lot more cargo versions being used commercially. I’d have to think if they continue makin the NV they keep both alive. If they stop one, they both get discontinued. ?

I have a 2014 V8 and have always been very happy with its performance unloaded, loaded, or towing our trailers. If I needed a new van today I wouldn’t fear the newer 5.6 or 7 speed one bit. I truly feel like Internet forums turn most issues into a much, much larger issue than they really are. These are extremely reliable vans all the way around. Find a new one or a used one that was cared for and chances are that you’ll be very happy!

New to the forum nv 3500 hd

Nothing wrong with the 5.6 pre-2017. Don’t think twice about it. It’ll do everything you ask of it and be extremely dependable. Enjoy! -
Congrats!

I wish I was in the market. Good luck getting it sold!

I’m also calling bull on this. Sounds like a troll among us....

I thought when we bought ours in 2014 they would catch on better than they did. There really isn’t a good reason NV’s didn’t get more popular, but people just love trucks and crossovers and big vans seem to be falling out of vogue. And Nissan is in no position to try and beef up a market that isn’t low hanging fruit right now. If this site winds down eventually I’m sending Rad an MVP plaque lol. He’s been involved and active here since the very early days, and his trip photos have frequently made me ask my wife “what if?” ??

Mark Carroll Handyman
andy_george replied to Mark Carroll Handyman's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
It’s just a guess, but I’d also blame the tires. Truck tires with large sidewalls and deep tread can really feel squirmy, especially when the tires you replaced were low on tread. Let us know if it gets better! -
Glad Weathertech makes some for the NV now. I just bought some cheap auto store mats years ago that work in our van, but I would have preferred Weathertechs. Congrats on the new van! Share pics!

Plasti-dip for mirrors, handles, badges - how long will it last?
andy_george replied to MilesD's topic in Appearance
I have a good friend who did vinyl on the front fenders of his older Dodge truck. I’m amazed at how good it looked and how well it’s stayed on over the years. -
NV camper conversions hold their resale value

My nephew just mentioned upgrading from his current Transit Connect DIY conversion to something already finished on the used market. I’ll send him to conversiontrader?? -
Camco Recurve R3 WDH (1200/15000) not impressed.

Oh now I gotcha. Glad they got you a replacement. Hope it works great! -
A report from Autoblog indicates that the end could be near for the NV. I truly hope it’s not the case. But given the seriousness of Nissans global situation and the fact that the NV isn’t selling super well with no serious updates on the horizon lead me to think there may be some truth to this rumor. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/06/08/nissan-to-kill-nv-vans/

Plasti-dip for mirrors, handles, badges - how long will it last?
andy_george replied to MilesD's topic in Appearance
I think it will last you quite a while. I used plasti-dip on my Wife’s CRV winter wheels.... a steel set we bought off some local classifieds. I didn’t like the stock gray so I sprayed them black, and they’ve held up to 3 nasty Michigan winters amazingly well. I’m not sure what the dealer would have used, but since you can redo it over 400 times and still come out money ahead I’d say you made a wise choice ?? -Andy
