I bought my 3500 high top 12/30/14. The dealer had about 30 NV's in stock and there were another 10 dealers within 50 miles with another 150 plus to chose from. Of course no 2015's at the time. But lots of 2014's in a combination of cargo, passenger and 200's on the lot. No shortage here. Rick

Don't know about your coverage, but the nv is covered for towing for the duration of the warranty 5 years 100, 000 miles. Rick.

Why didn't you just turn it off on the dash switch? Mine likes to beep when backing out of a driveway and it sees the street at a closer angle. Rick
-
My drivers belt is no longer showing a dash warning when left unbuckled and its not easy to lock the belt anymore. Anyone else with this isuue? Also the side slider is hit or miss with unlocking with the remote. Seems like the pin contacts are not all making contact. I thought I read they need to shim the switch assembly to make better contact. Rick.

The tire air pressure sensors can be adjusted as needed without going to the dealer. You only need an air compressor or pump and follow the instructions in the owners manual. I'll try to post a link to the process. Rick. The online pdf owners manual shows it on pages 8-38, 8-39 and 8-40 The process involves using your dash button to get the tpsm in a learning mode and dropping the pressure 10# in a 30 second period in the order described. You also need a pump/ compressor capable of raising the pressure 10# in 30 seconds according to the manual. Haven't tried it yet, but 1 of my sensors is 4# off based on a very accurate tire gauge.

You sure its not an average mph and not a mpg? Mine shows my average mph. It does not show mpg. For that I use my scangauge2 and its a depressing 7-8 mpg. Its accurate as ive compared it to my fillups 3 times. Rick.

the ticket was in santa monica, but culver city and beverly hills all write the same tickets as they were all trained by the culver city commercial enforcement cop. they are small cities with big expenses. i understand they generate over 1 million dollars annually just with these tickets and 1 cop per city working commercial enforcement. of course the city only gets a portion of the total. the ticket is 1 thing, but the penalty added to the ticket is x4 the ticket. so a 600. ticket plus the 4x penalty = 2400.00 plus the cort cost of 170.00 came out to 2570.00. without the discount it would have been 900.00 x4 = 3600.00 plus 170. 3770.00 based on the written law, it would be almost impossible to beat it in court and they do show up for this. Rick.

keep in mind although the nv is rated at 9500 # towing with the v8, there is also a gross combined vehicle weight rating of i believe 16,000# a 3500 high roof weighs in at 6003# empty. so any added occupants and cargo will take away from the towing capacity. of course if they ever get pulled over by law enforcement, not only will they get a huge ticket, but they will have to get the load lightened before they will be allowed to move. might even get impounded. last year i got a 2750.00 ticket while towing a trailer and i wasn't even over weight. and that was with a 25% discount for not fighting it the ticket. i was 1 of 8 in court that day with the identical ticket, same cop. Plus all were contractors, we stand out. Rick.

The length comes into play when navigating city streets and turns. possibly at camp grounds when trying to pull into a tight spot. It also depends on the the length from the hitch to the axle and the overhang behind the axle to bumper of the trailer. I have 2 work trailers and although not as long as yours, the overhang is the factor when going in and out of driveways, especially if the driveway has any kind of slope/ ramp. Rick.

Like I already posted on my previous post. I moved my response to my thread which you still have ignored. Not 1 post, but would rather respond on this page. So I will lead you and others to the proper thread again. Can't get the gps to display when on the bluetooth. Rick

Can't get gps to display when on the bluetooth phone
RICK replied to RICK's topic in Audio & Navigation
You never responded to my thread other than through a pm you sent me titled "hey". To which I responded too. Read this thread and other than 2 posters, and myself who had to copy and paste your pm so the facts are shown. What amazes me is you're more concerned about a paint chip on 1 roof that may or may not be a factory defect, than a very expensive technology package that affects everbody that opted for this option which I would suspect to be about 25-33% of the nv sales. I too gave mrolaf my opinion on how to pursue it and he did what I suggested about getting an estimate from a body shop. Yet, you seem to blow off a concern that affects everybody that owns the technology package weather they know it or not. Most have already discovered the outdated sd cards being furnished with the navigation. But I guarantee you they are unaware of the bluetooth cutting out the ability to see maps while using the phone. The inabilty to use the phonebook unless you have hours of free time to go 1 by 1 trying to look up a name or number. The inability to be understood on the other end of the phone by my customers that have easily figured out something has changed. The inabilty for the bluetooth to select the right contact when voice dialing. The fact the caller ID doesn't display the name of the caller who's name is already in the phone book. Yes they blew it. They installed the cheapest technology package they could get and forced you to also purchase the side airbags to get the technology package. Yet you want to ignore this and not even respond to my thread, but attack me on another thread when I brought up the fact that bosch makes the radio and most likely the sonar in the rear bumper. I never said you don't belong on the forum, I said your opinion is bias as your income relies on the sales of this product. Is everyone suppose to know more about this vehicle and it's technology than the dealer who sells these for a living? Especially since this technology is nothing new, yet they chose to install nothing new and use technology from at least 7 years prior. Rick. -
Can't get gps to display when on the bluetooth phone
RICK replied to RICK's topic in Audio & Navigation
It takes days of use to discover the issues with the navigation bluetooth. It doesn't happen in the 10 minutes sitting inside a dealers parking lot especially when the vehicle of choice was brought in from another dealership 40 miles away from the dealer I made my purchase from. The commercial fleet manager who sold me the NV was unaware of the issues with the technology package until I brought it up to him a week later. He then went into a NV in his lot and tested it out, only to be very disappointed with the end results after pairing the bluetooth with his I phone. He too couldn't get the caller id to display, the maps to display when on the phone, the phonebook to scroll, the sd card was also a 2012 in the 2014 van and the call quality sounded like a tin can. So now he is aware of the issues since I informed him. Prior to that he had never tested it. Nissan has plenty of lower cost vehicles with much more modern navigation, bluetooth radios installed, yet chose to install outdated units in a modern, new vehicle. doesn't make any sense other than their bottom line. Not a wise thing to do with a new product that you're trying to get this out to the masses. Rick -

and my response to chris was. 26 postsMy Age Group:51-60My Region:U.S., Pacific CoastLocationLos AngelesCurrent Vehicle:NV 3500 HD SV High RoofSent 21 January 2015 - 04:59 PM Honestly, do you feel that the gps/ bluetooth navigation is up to par with the rest of the vehicles? Today it wouldn't even dial a number. All it wanted to do was redial. Since when does everyone get a 2-3 year old sd card in a new vehicle? Why no maps when talking on the phone? Why is the phone book antiquated? Only starts at the letter A? The microphone sounds like a tin can. Honestly, you feel good about recommending this option for $1400. I can easily buy a better system with working features and still buy the optional airbags and not only have saved money, but have a system im happy with. All I have now is a 1400.00 defect that is more trouble than its worth. I bought this to replace my sprinter with 38,000 miles because the dealer wasn't able to diagnose my power issue. Nissan answer was that's how they all are. Impossible as my parents have an older maxima with better gps and bluetooth. Rick. -

so to follow up on the pm chris sent me goes as follows. Rick. Chris_CommercialManagerNew Member Nissan NV Member86 postsLocationCharlotte, NCCurrent Vehicle:NASent 21 January 2015 - 12:32 PM You probably haven't read my post yet but I'm serious. Many dealers just don't know this product well. If you're pissed call and let them know. Depending on the dealer they'll take your criticism to heart and make sure they correct the error. At least for me, I don't want anyone unhappy or second guessing something that I could have keyed them into earlier. Christopher -
i'm amazed you will not respond to my radio bluetooth , navigation concerns on the open forum, yet in private you admit the navigation unit is "sub par" i'm also amazed that i bring up a fact about the radio and sonar being the same company and you tell me you've heard enough about it. yet you're not aware bosch builds the radio and and pretty sure they also build the bumper sonar unit. so it is relevant to the this topic. you also state other haven't had issue with the radio/ navigation , bluetooth. wrong once again as the 2 people who responded to my post have said the same thing and on other post, members have replaced their radio/ nav unit with aftermarket units. while others have complained about the fact the sd data cards are at least 2 years older than the vehicle they are installed in. i will also move this discussion over to my post so as not to continue the he said she said debate going on. anyone interested in learning more or contributing to a post about the radio. bluetooth, navigation unit can follow it at this thread. http://nissannvforum.com/topic/517-cant-get-gps-to-display-when-on-the-bluetooth-phone/ Rick

Had my phone slip between the center console and drivers seat. Forget about your hand squeezing in there. Slid the under seat drawer completely out and was able to reach it. Mine van has the bulkhead partition so moving the seat or reaching from behind is not possible. Did the toy fall into the little opening by the cargo tie downs? Or the front seating flooring? Rick.

Doesn't this fall under the 5 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper or the even longer emission warranty. It is part of the emission system with the carbon canister. Are they claiming its a wear and tear item? I believe only the brakes, tires and battery are the only things considered wear and tear. Rick.

Fyi, I do own a sprinter and had some of the same issues with other sprinter owners. Bad glo plugs. The sprinter forum disscusses everthing from pros and cons and gets well over 50 updates daily. If you would have read my intro post, you would be aware why " I dumped the sprinter for a NV". Fyi the dealer, commercial manager was also unaware of all the radio bluetooth gps issues until he spent 30 minutes in the van and tested it himself, even calling me while in the van trying testing it. He never knew how poor of a design it was. He also tried a 2015 and there is some improvements and is looking into swapping mine with the newer version. He also has over 30 NV on the lot at a time. I might be the 1 vocal person discussing the issues, but there is not 1 good review on this forum about the radio gps that nissan installed in the NV. For $35,000 I have a right to be upset. I at least own the Nv and sprinter along with 5 other vehicles You as a salesman for this vehicle have less rights discussing this as it's truly a conflict of interest and bias as your income relies on it. My income relies on my ability to make and recieve phone calls, and also have the ability to navigate at the same time. Something that can't be done with this navigation package. Why do I need to see the callers phone number and time duration, but not be able to see the maps or navigate while on the phone? Their other vehicles , even older ones are not this poorly designed. But you already know this. If only others had posted about the issue on the forum prior to buying this option, I would have saved the $1400.00 and installed an aftermarket unit, as others have done after the fact. And by the way, according to the manager, the 2015 can be ordered with the navigation package without having to also purchase the secondary airbag package. A savings of $400. So the 2015 has made an improvement in the navigation and eliminated the need to buy airbags to get the radio package. I'm sure it was a decision made based on others who made the same mistake and voiced their concerns in the public and to Nissan. So go ahead and keep private messaging me so others don't see your thoughts, why not just admit Nissan blew it and Bring it up to the big shots when you see them in Mississippi. And while you're at it, ask them why I'm averaging 5-8 mpg with my new NV. Sure it only has 700 miles so far, but it's not even loaded with more than 1000# right now. Please don't private message me anymore as I am not interested in your private messages. Man up and post openly so all can read your comments. Rick

Probably the same company that designed the radio/ bluetooth and gps unit. it's not like it's cutting edge technology, this stuff has been around for years. Nissan, you got to get your act together and monitor our complaints so maybe you can improve on your faulty design decisions. Rick.

Smart phone and Tablet use in cold and/or no service areas
RICK replied to radin2son's topic in Lounge - Off Topic
Realize airplane mode will not accept calls, texts or emails. It will let you play games and take photos. Might as well keep it off until you need it as its just burning up power looking for a signal that doesn't exsist. Why not keep it plugged into the usb or lighter if you have your van there? Plus they sell usb backup batteries that work great for charging and extending the life of a phone. Especially on phones with non removeable batteries. Same applies to tablets or gps units working on usb power cords. Rick. -
Actually its more like $1400.00 as you can't get the technology package without the side airbag, roof package. And remember thats above and beyond the stock unit. The sales manager is just as frustrated as he didn't know how bad it really was until he actually spent 30 minutes in it trying to replicate my problems and concerns. Poor planning and execution on the choice of units and software design. Today the bluetooth locked up and I had to unpair the phone to get the unit to disconnect from the non existence phone call. Rick.

i understand that the 2015 has an updated stereo/ bluetooth gps system. the sales manager is checking into the new features and is going see if it will just plug and play in my 2014 that is useless. Rick.

Can't get gps to display when on the bluetooth phone
RICK replied to RICK's topic in Audio & Navigation
I called the commercial manager i purchased the van from. He asked to give him a little time and he would make some calls to another dealership buddy of his for his take on this. He was going to call me back from inside of a nv van while testing out the phone and gps. To his surprise he too was very frustrated with the bluetooth and gps. He was told the maps don't display while on the phone so as not to distract the driver. I called BS as all their other luxury cars do display the maps. He also was disappointed in the fact that the phone book is useless. there is no way to scroll except by voice command 1 entry at a time. between his 400 and my 600 entries, it would literally take hours to use the bluetooth hands free to find an entry and call it. He never actually drove the van yesterday, only sat inside it to talk on the bluetooth. but it was very easy to tell the difference between the bluetooth and speakerphone even with the van not running. He also though that adjusting the treble and bass on the radio would adjust the call quality. i too told him that doesn't apply to the microphone. i've come to the conclusion the commercial sales manager knows less about the van than i do, Amazing as they have 20-30 nv's in stock at a time. He will get back to me next week when his boss is in. Heck even the registration is screwed up. i purposely paid and had them register it at 15,000#gcwr to make it legal to tow my trailer, of course the plates showed up yesterday and it was registered as the shipping weight of 6003# making it illegal the second i drove off the lot. Of course he doesn't know what has happened to my $165. extra i paid for the weight tag and will find out Monday too. He knows it was processed at 15,000# as it was written up and paid for. Anyone towing with their van better be registered at the combined gross vehicle weight. I can tell you $2750.00 reasons why too. Lets see what next week brings. hopefully better news. Rick -
Get an estimate from a couple of independent body shops along with the cause of the paint blister. get it in writing and present it to Nissan for their review. at that point they will either give in or you can sue them in small claims court. of course they will not waste their time to show and you will win by default or they will just pay it to keep from going to court. Rick
