  1. What Rad said. Dont sweat it too much, factory speedometers are notoriously bad. If your speedo read 60 MPH before, you are now going almost 65 MPH. Factory speedos always err on the fast side of things so it could be more accurate now. Before if your speedo read 60 you may have been going 57. If it was 5% slow before your tires now make it 7% fast. Some companies do sell speedo calibrators but those are normally for the offroad guys running really large tires. Hypertech was one company that is popular but you would need to check compatibility with Nissan.
  2. I never got a second survey. A little over 2 years of driving with almost 50K miles.
  3. Admin doesnt reply to me and I am a mod...
  4. They normally recommend a WD hitch over 500# in tongue weight depending on the receiver and vehicle. You would be right at or just over that number so it is really up to you. I also agree to keep things simple. If you dont load it up heavy you should be just fine with just the right shank and ball mounted. That is also a minimal investment so if you find you dont like the way things feel or the trailer is handling you can upgrade to a full WD setup. It is pretty short too so you wont need to worry much about sway if you load it up right (dont put all the weight behind the axle). Grade and mountain driving wont really matter unless you get crazy crosswinds. A WD hitch wont make any difference on flat or steep grades. Antisway could make a difference if you get high crosswinds but that is a short trailer.
  5. Those are interesting but the theory on their design is solid. I have a 10' long roof rack creating massive drag on my NV so these probably wont help the NV but they may help my Toyhauler.
  6. Hankook Dynapro AT-M on mine. No snow but we do have wet clay mud, sand, etc. Do well in all of those, the stock Firestones had zero traction in comparison. They are getting noisier as the tread wears down but I have over 25K miles on them.
  7. No, the pigtail that attaches to the controller that plugs into the wire under the dashboard. Controller -> pigtail -> under dash wiring. You can use that and wire it to the controller or you can buy a vehicle specific pigtail from the controller company. I have a Tekonsha and they sell a Nissan pigtail. It plugs directly into the back of the controller and then directly into the under dash wire harness.
  8. The brake controller connector is coiled up down by the parking brake pedal. Large white connector. My van had the connector pigtail in the glove box for hooking up my controller. Makes things really easy to hook up and get it right. A lot of controllers have vehicle specific harnesses you can buy to go with them to make it even easier. Tons of controllers to chose from. Read reviews and check out designs to pick one. The NV is a great tow vehicle.
  9. Welcome to the site! Look forward to seeing the modifications you do to your van. I dont think I have ever seen a Pearl White NV yet, just the plain white. Post some photos if you can!
  10. Here it is, and it is actually old! Been out since 2015. I thought I just read about it recently, maybe there is a new one but this was a quick search. Says it is mainly for trailers that dont need WD hitches so I may be thinking of another, I will need to search more. https://www.etrailer.com/Weight-Distribution/Hayes/HA81775.html The Hensley system uses a "stinger" that needs to line up perfectly with the receiving end to hook up. The same physics that dont let the trailer sway also dont let the system mount up when not aligned.
  11. Hensley and their twin ProPride have a serious disadvantage if you are not aware. They can NOT be hooked up unless you are perfectly in line with the trailer. It may tolerate a couple degree angle and you can force it in but otherwise it has to be exactly in line. At our old house and at many sites we would not have been able to use the hitch since we had to back in at an angle. They are excellent hitches made to last a lifetime and really do control sway better but they are very expensive and have that flaw of hooking up (or unhooking safely). Honestly, if your TT is setup correctly you should never have sway in normal driving. Crosswind and big semi passing "push" is completely normal and will happen even with a ProPride. Biggest worry is emergency evasive maneuvering. A good sway control will help bring that in line if physics makes it possible. You can also use the manual brake control on your controller to apply brakes to the trailer to bring it back in line if it gets swaying too much. I think there is a new setup out there that uses GPS and yaw rate sensors attached to the tongue of the trailer to apply brakes automatically in case of sway. Not that is pretty cool!
  12. Welcome to the site. I am guessing a dealer has not looked at either issue yet? Nissan has the best in class warranty on these vans but seems like many are reluctant to use it. I've used mine several times with good results. I've had my share of issues with the dealer doing the warranty work on top of the van issues but again, Nissan made things right in the end. Would I be happier with no warranty claims? Absolutely. It's there for a reason so people need to use it. If Nissan cant fix it or it happens over and over again then get upset with the company.
  13. Plasti Dip is easily reversible on most surfaces. You dont like it or it gets worn looking you can peel it off and start fresh. It is also thick so has some durability. Paint and bed liner would be permanent. Paint would be a lot less durable. Bed liner would be near indestructible!
  14. Welcome to the site! I hid your duplicate thread under this one. I would suggest a quick search of this site and it will get you most if not all of your answers. There are several of us towing larger campers and trailers (including us). My camper is 7700# loaded heavy for a long trip though. The NV will tow that much, it matters how much you want to push things. You'll be near the limit of ratings for towing, payload, etc. Have you ever towed? Towing near max limits for a first time experience could be interesting. You'll need an excellent WD hitch with good sway control and you'll need to know how to set it up properly (dont trust dealer). It will also matter where you are towing. It "will" pull that much up and down the Rockies, just dont expect much performance and be patient.
  15. There was a semi active dealer on here (Chris Commercial) out of Charlotte NC that was a very large dealer of NV's. He's had some very high mileage trades that he said were in great shape. One had 200K miles and I think another had well over 300k miles. All routine maintenance only on them. They are pretty stout vehicles made for abusive commercial use.
  16. What auto lock? My 2015 3500 SL does not auto lock other than driving over 15 mph.
  17. Welcome to the site tboy! Thanks for the update and possible fix.
  18. I voted NV as well just for the space for kids to spread out but... Wife doesnt like driving the NV and I would like a break driving 5000 miles. Sienna gets double the MPG of my NV. Sienna is way easier to park and maneuver in tight parking lots or narrow back roads. NV gets to go back to FL this winter again for annual camping trip at Christmas. Wer'e also doing Fall camping trip but that is local-ish. My NV definitely gets driven a lot, I have 45K miles and it's a little over 2 years old. I telecommute from home so have a zero mile commute!
  19. Does it happen while driving or while sitting in stop and go? My 2015 fan is very loud when in stop and go just due to heat buildup and it is trying to get rid of it when we start moving again. I am in the south like you and as you know it gets really hot especially when just idling in place. Mine will stay really loud until I get moving a while and then drop back to normal. I would try and get your van in at your next stop even for a brief inspection. If it happening a lot they should be able to diagnosis it quickly. Would you rather stop now and have it looked at or have the van break down in between stops and force you to stop? Nissan Roadside will take you to the nearest NV dealer if that happens but I would start checking around to see where the nearest could be to have it looked at.
  20. Welcome to the site. We have several owners of both the Advanced and Quigley here so hopefully they chime in or you can message them as Rad suggested. I believe Quigley was first to convert the NV but they do not offer a 4 Low, just 4 High. Nissan asked them not to install a 4 Low lever even though their transfer case supports it. I think Advanced does offer 4 Low. You would need to ask the owners and the companies about why they do or do not have them.
  21. Here is mine for now. Still deciding on which vehicle to take cross country next year but we are leading towards my wife's Sienna for way better MPG and ease of maneuvering in tight places.
