  1. FWIW, I had the Michelin LTX on a vehicle before and would buy them again without hesitation. Because the tread pattern isn't quite aggressive enough for my 4x4 van, I went with the Goodyear Duratrac.

I've enjoyed reading about everyone. So here's our story, We're in our early 50s and we've been married 26 years. I started a company in 2003 manufacturing railroad crossing signals and my wife works with troubled kids in our school system. We have 2 sons the youngest just entered college. I just completed a road trip with one son and my wife. Prior to that I didn't take time away from work for 13 years. I used to kayak, camp, fish, cycle, and play golf, softball, and basketball. We are beginning several major changes in our lives: I sold my business, we are selling our larger home, and then we're building a smaller home on acreage we own.
  3. Crickets...We're talking Daffy Duck on stage quite! Still love my van for all the reasons andy_george stated. I forgot to mention how my back felt normal after my trip. The seats are like the van, the beauty is in the function not the form.
  4. Any one else loosing interest in this forum due to lack of participants? I know that the NV has a small group of owners but to me there are enough vans on the road that a small but active forum should be possible. Thoughts? And before you say it... Yes I see the irony in asking. Kevin
  5. Had a great trip. What a beautiful country. Attached a few images. Looking forward to reading about and viewing other's journeys[ attachment=258:IMG_0595.JPG].
  6. Hello, Just completed a 6,460 mile trip with ZERO issues! Well one non-driving issue. Awakened to an 18 degree morning and started the van for warmth and the Nav screen failed. Non issue really. I already knew Nissan ripped me off with the junk Nav unit. I'll post an update on it's after market replacement unit. We went from sea level in Seattle to the top of Glacier National Park, 10 MPH 4x4 off road trails to 85 MPH highway driving. Low mpg was 11.2 off road and high mpg was 13.8. I used 87 octane while driving flat areas and 92 in the mountains. What a great vehicle. Kevin Any one know why pictures post sideways and how to prevent?
  7. Silver sitting far east in their lot? I think I saw it also.
  8. Nice build. Great photos. I have a similar Pelican cooler. Where did you get the drain valve? Thanks, Kevin
  9. Laharview, sorry for the late post. Attached are two images of my rear vent fan setup.
  10. I have a high roof model with 4x4. Because I go off road (under tree branches) I didn't want anything on the roof. I installed vented side windows and ordered an extra driver's side rear screen then attached a portable Fan-Tastic fan to the extra screen with plastic blocking the non fan area. This set up draws air in from my other windows but can be easily removed. I can send a picture if needed.
  11. For a front wheel drive van with a max towing capacity of 5,100 pounds, the mileage seams about right. To me the two vans are different enough they aren't even comparable. I like others here who purchased NVs might be a little biased but will still shoot you straight advice.
  12. I'm going to keep a similar fuel log during my upcoming 5,600 mile trip with a good mix of speed and topography. I'll report my results.
  13. How many IKEA Swedish meatballs will fit in a NV?
  14. They're with the $5.00 lunch.
  15. For me it's because I want the V8 power when needed (trust me you will need it!) and the V6 fuel saving isn't great enough.
  16. ASD Dad, I too had a Tacoma. 2012 double cab long bed. Kept it one year. Not enough truck for me. Sold it and bought a lemon Mitsubishi Fuso FG that the dealer bought back. Finding a reliable vehicle has been great. Finding out just how great the NV is was an additional bonus! This is my third all time favorite vehicle of the 30 plus I've owned over the years. That would be an interesting thread. Ones top ten vehicles owned. Purchased components for a basic auxiliary battery system. should arrive this week. Trying to get the system installed before I leave on the 9th.
  17. I had the Transforce on a different truck and knew I didn't want it again. I paid the dealer the difference and had the Goodyears installed. I've also had great luck with Michelin's LTX A/T2s.
  18. Mine are Goodyear's Duratrac 265/70/17E. To me the tread is very quiet with super traction. Be aware that they grab and throw gravel also.
  19. Yes I did and I'm very pleased with my tires. 4,000 miles with zero issues. I didn't have my speedo adjusted. According to a separate GPS unit, my speedo is correct at 60 mph. According to Tire Rack, the Bridgestone Revo II rotates 658 times per mile. The Duratrac rotates 657 and the stock 245/75/17 Firestone Transforce HT rotates 661 times. The 2500 has a 245/70/17 that rotates 683 times. Not much difference to me. Is the stock tire/speedo combo correct? Do they reprogram the speedo for the stock tire differences?
  20. Thanks for the report. Good News!
  21. I have a Quigley 4x4 and wanted to hear other owner's feedback, stories, pictures. I've used my 4x4 on river banks to camp. Nothing extreme but the van has sure footed traction on loose 6-8 inch deep gravel with enough traction to climb a steep enough bank that my hitch receiver dug in. Thanks, Kevin
  22. Wow the thread title is a real teaser! Thought I was going to find that I unknowingly purchased the V8 all other engines will be judged by. Sweet motor.
  23. Chris, What's the hole in the rear quarter panel behind the inverter? That had to be "painful" to cut.
