  1. The real question you should be asking is, how did my life become so hollow that I receive pleasure by trolling a friendly site with the sole intent of belittling others buying decision. My advice to you is buy a Ford or Chevy and drive it DIRECTLY to therapy. Still waiting on the source for your "on average" statement.
  2. I wish you well. Remember, just because you sold the NV doesn't mean you can't post.
  3. I too was working on my van and heard a wheezing noise but quickly realized it was my labored breathing. Man getting old sucks!
  4. For what it's worth, we had an Alpine overhead DVD unit and it performed great for the 8 years we owned the minivan. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500RSEHDMI/Alpine-PKG-RSE3HDMI.html?tp=77&awkw=128306314585&awat=pla&awnw=g&awcr=67007133385&awdv=c
  5. If I had a low roof van, I'd install either the Ostrich Wing Awning with a wall kit or a Cascadia Mt. Jefferson roof top tent. It differs from most RTT with it's bed and lower open area combined. www.bigcountry.co.za/shop/product-types/awnings/ostrich-wing-awning/
  6. I'd like to know if the people with broken spot welds used a cut off wheel or a reciprocating saw to cut the roof. I've seen a reciprocating saw blade catch/bind and break near by spot welds.

    Remove cargo lights

My plan is to use the front light wiring to supply an outside LED light over the sliding door, the rear for an outdoor LED light over the rear doors, and use the center wiring to supply an indoor LED ceiling light. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks

    Remove cargo lights

May I suggest unplugging the lights, leave the pigtail for possible future use, and wrap the pigtail ends.
  9. Nice pictures and Van. Your penthouse is sweet. How easily does the side door screen allow for entrance/exit? Thanks for the report. Happy Trails!
  10. You don't want my Nav unit. The display screen cracked last winter when the temperature drop to zero. Of course, it's not covered under the warranty. I'm looking for a replacement unit that is compatible with the steering wheel controls.
  11. RWD would be "enough" but 4WD gives me the ability to drive the places you described when conditions change. Last trip my RWD was fine to go down to a sweet private river side campsite, a 5 minute little rain shower changed the exit to 4WD with wheel spin. One can get stuck, spend hours trying to get unstuck, wait hours for help, and completely ruin an outing many times for the cost of 4WD. For me, the NV wouldn't fit my needs without 4WD. In the end only you can determine if the $10-$12K 4WD conversion is worth the investment. Good luck, KMG
  12. Wollip has said exactly what I believe is an issue with the large hole with out proper support. Glad to see you rounded the cuts in the corners. A lot less lilely to tear from flexing compared to a 90 degree corner cut. Also for anyone else planning a cut in their roof, try to not cut the slanted section of the high roof. The seam is prone to leakage in stock form. Good luck and thanks for sharing your project. KMG
  13. I agree. Here are a few more images of the area from past trips.
  14. The "trail" is a smooth gravel & dirt forestry road. Two wheel drive conditions. The campsite has a 2 mile 4x4 trail but that's what makes it less likely to be occupied. I'd try it in a 2 wheel drive NV if I was with someone with 4x4 in case you need help. Two other sites at Blue Springs only require 2 wheel drive. To me, the upper Jacks Fork and the upper Buffalo river in northern Arkansas are the best in the midwest. You're welcome to set up base camp at my place any time. Good to hear from you, Radin2son
  15. This past weekend we traveled the Glade Top Trail in SW Missouri to Blue Springs campsite on the Jacks Fork river. About 100 miles of back roads. Here are a few images. I can't get a video to load and can't keep the image orientation correct. Website manager need to improve the ease of use.
  16. Long time posters excluded from this statement. I don't appreciate it when I take the time to respond to a newbie with a possible solution to their posted question and don't receive a thanks, no thanks, or even a blow it out your ear. Nothing! It's why I read often but post rarely.
  17. Have you considered using camp style bunk beds?
  18. Welcome. I found parts at www.factorynissanparts.com. Good luck.
  19. Every symptom you described sounds like an under inflated tire issue but you have checked that. I had a set of Firestone Destination MT that you could feel the rear get squirrelly with 2 psi less. Good luck.
  20. Nicely done. The interior matches the vehicle. Function and form over fashion! Thanks for posting
  21. I get asked about my van a lot also. Something I find funny is, I had a BMW Z4M Coupe (5,000 built of which 1600 were imported to the U.S.) and many people would stop and look at the car but seldom speak to me. I think they assumed I might not be very approachable. With my NV they will come right up and strike up a conversation almost every time. There are day when I miss my BMW but it went to a good cause. My sons college fund. Every day I drive my NV I am glad I purchased it.
