  1. 265/70/17 work on my stock wheels. Same circumference as stock but an inch wider. Look at B.F. Goodrich KO2s. A friend has them on his Toyota and they are quite for the aggressiveness. I have four wheel drive and use Goodyear Duratracs. They have great traction and are not too loud for the type of tread pattern. Louder than KO2s and much louder than stock Transforce tires. I read before buying my Duratracs that they are prone to punctures. I have had 3 punctures fixed. Next set I buy will be KO2s. Good luck.
  2. I believe it's less than 50 mph for the Quigley.
  3. Originally, I was going to purchase a low roof model and install a roof top tent for camping. The sense of security I felt inside the high roof model convinced me to purchase a high roof and sacrifice visiting areas with height clearance issues.
  4. Assuming both tire sizes wear equally, the increase in diameter between the two sizes remains 1" but your ground clearance reduces with tire wear.
  5. Tire rack shows a 1" diameter difference for the two sizes. Divided by two only means 1/2" additional height gained.
  6. Radin2son, you had to peak my curiosity. 3500 2500 Tire Size 245/75/17 245/70/17 HD Battery Std. Opt. Heated tow mirrors Std. Opt. Ft. Tow Hooks Std. Opt. 7 Pin Brake Prewire Std. Opt. Class 5 Hitch Std. Opt. Payload 3,626 2,834 Has to be the extra leaf spring because the tow ratings are the same. Height +1" Leaf spring and tire size?
  7. I don't know the answer radin2son. Maybe a Quigley choice or requirement? I also don't know the difference between stock 2500 and 3500 NVs. Any one else know?
  8. Ian Johnson from Xtreme 4x4 is going to be building a Nissan NV into "the ultimate off road van". Should be on this Sunday.
  9. I read on EP that the Midwest Overland Society group (www.midwestoverlandsociety.org) are having a gathering in Backus, MN September 15-16. I'm considering driving up to the event. My van won't be able to do the off road trail ride but there will be many other things to do and see. Any NVers want to join up?
  10. You're welcome. I appreciate you taking the time to say thanks. Many ask for advice and information then "disappear".
  11. www.factorynissanparts.com seems to be competitively priced with good service. Kevin
  12. This is how my aux battery is wired. I've had good luck with CTEC systems.
  13. Don't forget Andy_George's sweet Freightliner food truck.
  14. I did purchase my van with the 4x4 conversion completed but it was a line item listed as an accessory. $10,500 for my conversion. I have a complete parts breakdown for my conversion provided with the Quigley paperwork.... all the part numbers are Quigley numbers. They're not going to give the research they paid for away. Don't forget a company like Quigley has to have Workers Comp. insurance, General liability Insurance with an umbrella policy for $5,000,000 per event, Product liability insurance for any in house designed components, Commercial property insurance, Payroll, Utilities, Marketing, R&D, and many more. An individual with skills should be able to convert a vehicle for less than half. But if you are responsible for an accident with injuries or death you can bet their attorney will ask about the qualifications of the person who did the install and about the independent testing of the installed system. IMHO sometimes it's better to pay $10,500 for a quality product plus transfer all issues and liabilities to others. Great build and thanks for sharing your journeys, Kevin
  15. I installed HEHR brand windows and they have performed well. Might be an option. www.nissanvanwindows.com If I was installing windows again I would look for a sliding vent type for the passenger side behind the sliding door. If my awning window is completely open, the sliding door would hit it. I made a stop to prevent the window from opening far enough to make contact. Good Luck
  16. Sorry, I was thinking of the girl who caused the accident and translated that into you having girls. No disrespect intended. Keep us updated. Thanks, Kevin
  17. Sorry for your troubles. Very glad you and your daughters are fine. Good luck.
  18. Nice looking NV! I like the color. IMO The wheels add to the look of the vehicle instead of how so many people choose wheels that steal the attention away from the vehicle. I've always said Form and Function are the only things that matters but maybe I should add Style to my list. Thanks to the newer guys for posting. I was getting tired of the same old bums on here. :)
  19. "You know that feeling when someone is staring at you. " I know that feeling! I would work long hours all hours of the day and night as a locomotive engineer and would wake up with both my little boys "starring" at me from the beds edge. I miss those days.
  20. Keep in mind you can build the rack with a piece of rectangle tubing running front to back on each side and use every van mount regardless of how many cross bars you use. This also allows you to choose how the crossbars are spaced apart. Use 1" x 3" tubing and installing the 1" side to the van mounts then the 3" side gives you the clearance so the crossbars clear the roof pitch. Double check that 3" is enough so the crossbars clear. Just a thought. Post pics.
  21. www.nissanfactoryparts.com Nissan part number: 909011pb0a I think that's what you want.
  22. Here is an image of my 2014 NV 3500 Driver's side rear door.
  23. Welcome. Post the improvements you add and trips you take. Heck post pics of it sitting in the driveway! Kevin
  24. Nice build. I too like the above rear door window cabinets. I didn't think to use that area. Thanks.
  25. I do read Overland and my wife just returned from a wedding in St. George, UT area. Both her pics and the article make me want to travel for 3 months in the area. I'd want more ground clearance and the increase in fuel capacity if I was going global.
