trucktrend.com has a great article on the $45k conversion (includes the van) by Recon. This has VW style poptop, so it seats 4 and sleeps 4. A mechanical engineer came up with this... Check out reconcampers.com and the videos. There also is a startup rental, Scamper Van for these in the southeast.

2017 . . . Camping in NV? Or do you like hook ups?
radin2son replied to Bamps's topic in Lounge - Off Topic
Heard something interesting on the radio regarding the forest service and their campgrounds. 70% of their budget now goes to fighting fires. Plus they are looking at a 15% cut in their budget. $20 fees and privatized campgrounds are here to stay. In true government fashion, the concessionaires keep $18 and the government gets $2, down from the $5 we used to pay to camp. In AZ, there is talk of privatizing state campgrounds. Currently, the fee is around $25 with electric/water and there are showers. Some state parks, Dead Horse Ranch in Clarkdale for one, also have non-hook up sites as well. -
Haven't noticed oil level being down between changes. Dealer service. Don't the V8s take an odd number of quarts, as in 6.+? Maybe not that much, but more than the 5 quarts specified in Nissan dealer service sales promotions. Another issue has been over filling... This is not to say you aren't putting in the correct amount. Plus the dip stick only cares if it is ok or down.

Just say something clever and hope no one noticed...

Double post. This hasn't happened in awhile... Regarding your other post on a wrap. You should pm chris_commercialmanager. Before working in NC, he sold Sprinters in Chicago. He too likes NVs much better, to say nothing of selling a lot of them. The problem seems to be not enough to sell.

Welcome. Good to see more commercial users, who will definitely test the new engine and 7 speed...

adventure-journal.com out of Dana Point, CA just posted a link for Colorado trails. Given what is going on in Utah, the move of the outdoor recreation trade show from Utah to Colorado in 2018 and Colorado governor's "Colorado the Beautiful," cts.state.co.us looks like a pretty good smart phone resource. Still a work in progress...

One advantage you have is being able to use it for an exterior shower (?) without having to hang a flexible hose on something. I would add a minimal back splash to the sink or cutting board/counter to keep things from escaping off and out the door.

New windshield price?
radin2son replied to andy_george's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Is it only AZ that has free, not exactly free (paid for in your insurance policy), windshield fix (not in driver's line of sight) and replacement? Theory is that the powers that be want broken windshields replaced. The insurance industry is fighting this. -

We are planning a trip to southern Colorado that we were unable to do last summer. To our surprise, many of the established forest service campgrounds along CO 145 from Cortez to Telluride have hookups, 36-50' sites and reservations, not all sites. Room for 2 NVs... Plus, these campgrounds are concession run. The National Geographic map for Telluride, Silverton, Ouray and Lake City show many other campgrounds and the fs web site mentions dispersed camping as well. Anyone have knowledge of this area? We would like to stay away from atv areas, which the map clearly shows. Nothing against atvs... We may end up heading north to Dinosaur NM as well. -
I remembered that the dealer near the Canton, MS facility had 3 2017 and 1 2016 NVPs on the lot. Roughly $1400.+ That and any discount would favor the 2016 unless you have to have the new V8... Since they are built just down the road I wonder if the transportation fee is negotiable.
-
Welcome. Post photos when you can... Just curious, or don't remember, what is the 2016 MSRP?

Based on other posts, it looks like Nissan needs to again increase production. I have no idea when the google maps satellite image was taken of the Canton facility and the newly minted Nissans (Altima, Frontier, Titan and NV). I expected neat organized rows of each, not haphazard parking. You can easily pick out the many NVs. The nearby Nissan Commercial dealership has only one cargo NV (1500) on the lot and 3 or 4 NVPs. No special treatment... There may have been 3 diesel powered NVs. The one (test mule), Chris refers to was doing hotel/airport duty, the one at the Cummins facility and the one built by extreme 4x4. NV 200 are made all over the world and the ones we see probably are from Mexico. In Asia or India they are known as Vanette. That name wouldn't apply very well to a NVP. For whatever reason, my iPhone thinks I mean Cummings and I forget to check...

Another possible reason to utilize forest service and BLM land: The secretary of the interior is considering privatization of national park campgrounds. He feels they can do a better job than park personnel. Our experience has been that "resort" run campgrounds cost more, discount less and seasonal staff know much less than park service seasonal staff. One is a summer job and the other a career. -

Cummings put the Titan diesel in an NV when the Titan was being developed. So Nissan has all it needs to know to make this work, but will they? Not likely per chris_cm in 2015. Same for extended van. Chris did say the cutaway cab was more likely. So was the NV box a "test mule?" If Nissan finds your NV, I'd go for it.
-
Don't forget that there was a price increase for all 2017 NVs. Your 2017 OTD will be that much higher or more.
-
Laharview, Great photo to help visualize cooler temps. These V8s love 2200 rpm...
-
2017 NVs didn't show up at dealers until February or later, 2017 so it seems a bit early to stop production. Makes you wonder if they are making major changes for 2018. Some one posted seeing a cutaway box version. 2018 or creative owner? Other than passenger NVs on AZ lots, almost all cargo NVs are white 1500. High tops are S or SV trim. As an aside, we see fewer and fewer old Sprinter cargo vans. Replaced by? There are more new NVs a few more Promasters. Transits dominate and are almost always big fleet businesses.

Like photo #1. Is that a sun, bug or privacy screen in the passenger window? You are right about it heating up. Hope they are wrong about 116*. Hookups or not? With it being super crowded in campgrounds along with the need to make reservations, particularly if you want electric/water (forget sewer and cable; no bathroom and tv anyway), it looks like dispersed camping is the only way to go. Forest service web sites provide great information. BLM is just too slow, to the point of being useless. Interagency offices, like the one in Lone Pine, CA are great resource. -
It depends on how FL registers new vehicles bought out of state. Our NV was from CA and it was a toss up whether or not to pay to have it shipped to Tucson and pay AZ tax or pay CA tax, drive it back, register it and not pay AZ tax. We chose the latter. I would use the Nissan Commercial web site and search inventories for all dealers close to you. Since it appears Nissan has stopped NV, at least cargo vans, production for the year (Why?), inventories will be tight. Call them for their best price and you may find $44k is a good price. Chris_commercialmanager has been quiet of late but you may want to PM him to see if he can help you. He is in Charlotte, NC.
-
Not that you would pay to ship this. Jim Click in Tucson has one (java) listed at $42,785 MSRP with a $500 cash incentive.
-
What a way to get a NV to the market... Not that you can do anything about production, but is the SL trim making this more difficult? We have a 2012 cargo SV that has a chrome grill etc. but are there any other differences between cargo trim levels? Jim Click in Tucson has 0 NV cargo vans on the lot. Good luck on your search.
