Give me some site feedback
radin2son replied to ASD Dad's topic in Nissan NV Forum, Feedback and Help
I can’t recall thumbnail being used. Gallery possibly. Looked at your test video/photo on my phone, and don’t see a problem. Viewing size seems to vary with number of photos downloaded. laf will more than likely offer a better response. No idea what “days won” means. My guess is it is “meaningful” on a more active site. I use my phone so less is displayed than when I use my laptop. -
2013 NV 2500 high top, diy conversion (2019) for sale on conversion trader. $29,500. Per laf’s comment and recent news that the used vehicle market has taken a hit, the above is fairly priced no matter what the market. Worth a look...

Front sensors sometimes were a problem. Front license plate? Crusty has the right idea.

2014 Roadtrek N6 Active on Nissan NV Chassis For Sale
radin2son replied to NVAD's topic in Nissan NVs For Sale
In normal times, the SMB rule was the value of the van plus 1/2 half the value of the conversion. MSRP for a 2012 standard roof V8 was $28,550. Options (rear door glass, sliding door glass, airbag package, tow package and tech package) added $950. Trans was $995. Total was $31,605. If you know the original purchase price the above will give you the value of the conversion. This of course is meaningless given asking prices of new and used camper vans. If you don’t know the MSRP, Truck Trend did a review and pricing in 2012-13. -
Brought this up in maintenance, but it may need more heads up. Sportsmobile (all things Ford Econoline) forum had a post regarding AAA insurance and towing. Van owner needed a tow, which had been provided in the past, but met with resistance from 24/7 staff. Questioned about things typically found in a camper and denied tow for being a camper. This was not an issue in the past. Owner switched to Good Sam to get van coverage, even though he had AAA home and vehicle coverage. AAA does offer a RV plan, but is a diy conversion a RV? Not according to my insurance. Initially, my “what is that” agent insured it as diy (coverage for value of van and $10k for conversion). Since SMBs have RV certification, switched to RV plan to get full coverage. Check your policy, but my guess is we will find out what is covered the day we need it.

Engine knock and TSB warranty work
radin2son replied to Jakerh22's topic in Nissan NV 5.6L Engine (2017+)
Back to your initial post... Titantalk (appears to be a Canadian forum) had numerous posts regarding 2017 engine replacements. Most were short blocks. Depended on engine availability. Wait time was 4-6+ weeks with lots of dealer excuses/delays. One issue was gasket backorders. At least one gasket related oil leak. No mention of related transmission failures. There was a discussion regarding engine replacement break in and towing. Some said not needed. In general, it appears you have to research Titan, not NV forums. Too few NVs on the road.- 28 replies

Sorry to hear this. Did you get an invoice, even though covered by warranty, showing parts, fluids etc. that may be related to the transmission? Hope it is simple and that they don't stonewall you, but at least you are still under the original warranty if not part of the extended engine warranty.- 28 replies

Some “luxury” manufacturers still offer free maintenance and a loaner for the duration of warranty etc. I don’t think Nissan ever did this. A “local” dealer who owns multi- manufacturers’ dealerships, offers life time maintenance for every used vehicle sold. Only works at his dealership. Although he owns the local NV commercial dealership, I wouldn’t be surprised if NVs are excluded. (So far, Michelin tire roadside service excludes commercial tires. AZ emissions has NVs on the annual test cycle and will not do the obd test. (Cars and light duty trucks test every 2 years with obd and gas cap test.)

Laf Did you make it to Adventure Van? -
Out of the loop, eh? Discounts mainly cover oil changes but keep you coming back. Memory doesn’t go back that far. He ran a off site software business before remote was the norm.
-
It wouldn’t surprise me that most NV owners go to the dealer. Why? Service plans, discounts and convenience. And if you are lucky, great service. Re insurance. Most of the time you find out what’s covered when you need it. When the NV instagramer and towed NV arrived at the SLC dealership, they let him stay in his van on the lot until it was fixed. Now, that’s a reason to go to this dealership.
-
Well, if you are far away from your diy shop or independent shop, how do you know if quickey lube or what is that auto repair will be able to do what is needed? At least a commercial dealership is familiar with NVs and can do more than an oil change. Also more likely to have parts or get them fairly quickly for anything else. When you are back home, you can return to your routine. Higher prices for sure, but not so sure about substandard work. If that has been your experience, then fine. The good news is that 2012-16 NVs have had few problems. Personally, I have used the same independent shop since 1984.
-
Initially, the reason was that they didn’t have NV capable lifts. Then, it was $$$$ paid for the privilege of being commercial. Believe the latter. Our RV policy will tow us to the nearest facility to fix the problem. Doubt they would consider a tow when in the middle of nowhere, equidistant from Denver, SLC, Albuquerque or Phoenix where there are commercial dealerships. Years ago, a NV Instagramer needed a tow from Moab to SLC. $1500.

Give me some site feedback
radin2son replied to ASD Dad's topic in Nissan NV Forum, Feedback and Help
The older version of this forum used to list optional location for members. Privacy issues? A general location would help; eg, NE, SE, C... when responding. -
The premise for this thread was finding a commercial dealership while traveling, a task not that easy in the west. Regarding google reviews, I’d rather get a review from some one here. What still isn’t clear is whether or not a non commercial dealership will service an NV. Is it really a matter of just paying them? I’m not that concerned about EVs impacting our ICE vehicles any time soon. But, just look at Nissan ads... From your post, the answer is “not needed.” OK by me.
-
Any need to keep this current? With the end of NVs and the focus on EVs, it is hard to imagine dealerships making much of an effort to service NVs beyond warranty work.

Engine knock and TSB warranty work
radin2son replied to Jakerh22's topic in Nissan NV 5.6L Engine (2017+)
Good that you have your NV back and with a reassuring warranty. This was your ultimate goal despite the lack of dealer and Nissan communication. If you heart is in it, you can still give the dealership a bad review. Depending on your location, look for a dealership that has good reviews. Your warranty will be covered no matter what dealer you choose.- 28 replies

Engine knock and TSB warranty work
radin2son replied to Jakerh22's topic in Nissan NV 5.6L Engine (2017+)
From what I have found, Nissan parts warranty is 12 months or 12,000 miles from dealer installation. Lots of parts are not covered, so service paperwork should show what is covered. Or ask. If work is done by the dealer while the vehicle warranty is in effect but ends shortly thereafter, the parts warranty will continue. Genuine Nissan parts not installed by the dealer have a 12 month warranty. (Does this mean unlimited miles if diy??) Again, lots of parts aren’t covered so check this at the dealer parts counter or check web site info carefully. This was missing from above posts: TBS NTB19-057a (4/3/2020) Second gen V8 (2017) built prior to 1/15/2019.- 28 replies

Engine knock and TSB warranty work
radin2son replied to Jakerh22's topic in Nissan NV 5.6L Engine (2017+)
Ask the dealer about their warranty on parts and labor. If I recall correctly, there is/was a life time warranty on genuine Nissan parts for work done by dealerships. This wouldn’t cover filters, wiper blades etc. Depending on their answer in writing, contact Nissan Corp to get clarification. Contact them anyway and keep a record. Should something fail related to this repair after December, you have a documented history.- 28 replies

Laf Still think this should move to 2017+ 5.6 engine. It affects 2017 to early 2019 engines and will be easier to find. Assuming the fix works. Jakerh22 Thanks for following up on this and hope “today or tomorrow” actually works out.- 28 replies

You are not likely to get reimbursed for a non-expense, in your case, not renting a van on your own. You, however, can give the dealer service department a bad review, both with the dealer and consumer affairs. Based on much older previous posts, this could cost jobs, top to bottom, or more likely the other way around. Use this to your advantage and get them to extend the overall warranty for your wasted time, frustration and related stress. Next decision is, do you want to keep this van?- 28 replies
