  1. No idea if @AzGRMW007 is still around, says he last visited in '22. Maybe he'll see this ping. Paint is going to hold up on the chrome just like anywhere else...it depends completely on how you prep and apply it, cover it, and take care of it. I plasti-dipped my chrome and it's held up great, but it's on the emblem and such, not the wheels.
  2. This is correct, the trans is "good for the life of the vehicle" according to Nissan engineers and requires no service. I have not heard of a conversion kit, the earlier 5 speed got a dipstick but its completely different. IIRC this is unique to the 8cyl.
  3. Perhaps eventually. In the meantime, I will continue the buildout on the NV while looking the titan over to see if I can DIY a 4wd conversion later down the road, and we'll be traveling mostly in the Titan. Pic for attention and all that.
  4. Man. Been quiet as of late. Started traveling to race tracks and such. Wrecked. 3 surgeries. Had a kid. More surgeries. Still have the van. It's currently being used as a tool shed, although I may need to use it next weekend for its intended purpose. Kinda been sitting on the sidelines since the kiddo...can't figure out much how to travel safely with him in there. Bought an old titan to hopefully help with that...waiting on a PCM replacement to see if it's going to run or not. How are all 3 of you regulars doing?
  5. The best one is the one that was discontinued.
  6. Surprised this thing is still sitting, it's top 3 of the NV builds I've seen.
  7. The dealer will just be able to program it right to your vin, which will make it so your keys work and the van runs. Pretty sure that covers the immobilizer and that's it. The actual engine/trans tuning stuff is a different module.
  8. Also service manuals are all available for free @ nicoclub
  9. That's killer. There's a place up near Belfast that specializes in those things, if you get up there and want to reminisce. It's a younger guy that owns it, but you'd think he was in the thick of it in the 50s and 60s from talking to him and picking his brain about VWs. Must have come out breathing them and cut his teeth on shop manuals instead of nursery rhymes.
  10. Ah man. Yah we missed Maine this year too....first summer we missed it since I started going in 2014. Beautiful country up that way.
  11. Congrats on the 50th and Happy New Year.
  12. I believe you need to have someone program them, and I think that's a dealership trip in this day and age.
  13. Look into the rear air flow kit if you are talking about a pax van. Supposedly bumps up the output significantly.
  14. $25 worth of LEDs. I personally went with torchbeam, but they have since started interfering with my FM radio reception. Either way, the amount of light that they send down the road is AMAZING compared to anything halogen I've ever run before. They go right into the factory housings. I have yet to find that I need more light than they offer, and that includes a significant amount of driving either backcountry like fire roads and whatnot, and also rural routes away from light pollution. I'd spend the $30 and then decide if you need more.
  15. There is a guy on facebook that tries to sell HID conversions, but they're like $2500. When I bought my van, I too had complaints about the amount of light that I was throwing forward. I looked around and ultimately went with $25 LEDs. I haven't looked back, they are amazing. I have it in my mind that I will add fogs when I build a new front bumper but, honestly, haven't needed more than the LEDs can put out. Hope that's helpful.
  16. I keep one of these in all of my vehicles. Has no problem taking the van tires right to 80psi, even when I run the larger 285s. https://www.amazon.com/GSPSCN-Portable-Compressor-Cylinder-Inflator/dp/B07GJND1PX
  17. What's the gray box screwed to your inner fender just forward of the battery?
  18. I have called every company (as of about a year ago) that makes a programmer or calibrator listed for Nissans and none of them will work with the NV. I ultimately just ran my phone gps for speed, and did some math to calculate economy. Ultimately, I have since bought a second set of wheels and dropped back down to factory tire size 95% of the time, for this and a few other reasons.
  19. I have had little luck getting this guy to the forums, but he owns a body shop somewhere in the midwest and has been doing a pretty wild conversion. He took a totaled Pro4x and basically installed everything into his NV. https://www.instagram.com/gadzilla4x4 https://www.facebook.com/groups/429017268572804/user/100000527471927 - laf
  20. Depends on what's doing it, but generally not too bad to replace either the switch or the window regulator.
  21. @Mountweasel coffee just kicked in and I realized you are '17+. Your mileage may vary...all my experience was on a (NV)first gen engine. I wouldn't expect too much of a difference, but it's worth checking some part numbers. The engine will still work, it's just a question of if the same stuff I swapped still has to be swapped. - laf Edit: I just cross referenced some p/ns on the hart nissan site, and all the things that I had to swap are actually the same (at least on the computer) between the new gen engines. So you *may* actually have a 1:1 swap on your hands, but you'll be the first to find out. Keep us posted. I would just plan on allowing yourself time to have to order parts if you get in there and find it is not the case.
