I also never recommend throwing parts at a problem...have them go through the proper diagnostic chain. A starter is easily bench testable with a digital multimeter, some jumper cables, and a car battery. If it literally isn't turning over at all, be sure that they connected the main 12v lead to the starter. It is a separate lead that falls down alongside the battery tray and is easy to miss. I personally had that experience, but was able to diagnose using a DMM and then trace it out.

If it turns over at all, it's not "locked up." Not a lot of details were given, is this a v6 or v8? Gen 1 or gen 2? A couple thoughts; First and foremost, most JY pulls come with a 30 to 90 day warranty, so research your options in exchanging/returning. I had to do this with the first JY pull that I purchased. Did the donor engine come specifically from an NV, or was it from a titan/armada? IF it came from anything other than an NV, you need to make sure that they specifically moved ALL the sensors, flywheel AND engine harness from YOUR old engine over to the new engine. Everything looks the same and the harness will plug in, but if it didn't come from an NV, it's not the same. A fully dressed modern engine with all the accoutrements can be a lot to spin over by hand. Pull the coils and plugs completely out of the engine...this will make it significantly easier to spin over to test. Lastly, the best way to be sure that things look good is by doing a leakdown test. Any reputable mechanic shop should know what this is and have the tools on hand to perform it. Apologies I didn't get to this sooner, I've been busy with a family wedding and haven't been online much. -laf

Best Front shocks and struts???
Local Apparent Friday replied to Sebasmartinez's topic in Nissan NV 2500HD
There are only a few options...OEM or Monroe Magnum are the name brand ones. Either way, don't forget to get an alignment after you've done all of it. -
Give me some site feedback

I'll collate everything and shoot admin an email. -
@Sebasmartinez Did you get it aligned after replacing all the stuff? Scalloping on the tires is generally an alignment issue. Also, what tire are you running? Some are just loud.

Give me some site feedback
Local Apparent Friday replied to ASD Dad's topic in Nissan NV Forum, Feedback and Help
I cannot make changes like this directly, I have to email admin. I will look at post counts and what limited traffic I can see and see about it. Agree about post counts...it seems that only the technical crowd understand forums anymore these days...everything is done on facebook in groups, which I am not a fan of because things disappear and get buried. Zuck seems wholly incapable of programming a decent search feature. I do, however, try to comment and link here whenever I can. It also doesn't hurt that you don't have to register for FB groups the same way that you do for the rest of the internet, but alas, the spam filters here are amazing. -laf -
I don't know what the UK plates mean, but if the new van has the sat module already installed and the dims are the same, it should work. If not, you'd have to move all the equipment and possibly install the antenna. It would likely be easier to go aftermarket. Are the vans the same generation body?

I googled same as crusty and saw the same stuff. Best of luck, keep us posted.

Interesting, I took a brief look and saw that there was a supercharger package available running in the 6 pound range. My general experience with FI is that people tend to get overexcited and try bumping up the boost without any thought to internals or heat.

Have you pulled the actual codes that are tripping the CEL? Is this diesel and an overseas? What year model? Mileage, any other known issues, etc? Thanks and welcome.
-
Yah, what crusty said, and then there's the matter of the ECM as well. There are a ton of these floating around on facebook now with damage for parts...at minimum, snag a whole front cut and get everything you need at once, or just sell/trade up. FWIW, these are not a huge platform for modification, and enthusiasts are few and far between. If I had a V6 and given the availability and tunability via uprev, I would probably explore forced induction before I looked at a swap, depending on my end goals. What is your use case? -laf

Hello (again) forum!

Lol welcome back! Best of luck with the build. -
FYI the workhorse isn't a good choice for you since you mentioned winter driving. Try the BFG KO2's, I ran those in Maine on a different vehicle and liked them a lot. There are a slew of budget brands too that are perfectly fine, just noisy as they wear. Honestly I'd buy used tires before I bought passenger tires. Best,

So the P's will not take more than 44 pounds of air, and are not rated for the load. Somebody was just asking this on Facebook too, except they had already ordered the wrong tires. In that thread, someone mentioned knowledge of someone that had had a P blow out spontaneously on an NV. I have no direct knowledge of that, but honestly is it worth it? It might hold, it might not. Let's do the pros and cons: Pros: you save $100. Cons: The tire spontaneously explodes and causes the vehicle to swerve violently and you hit a child on the curb, who is now maimed for life. The family sues you, and your insurance declines to cover you on your liability because you had passenger car tires on a 1 ton van. You are now millions of dollars in debt, for life. Dramatic? Absolutely. Plausible? 100%. Spend the $100. I actually just logged in to look for tire reqs as I'm looking for a highway tire to save my expensive ass BFGs that I'm running on the highway for no reason to get to the track hauling MY bikes. It's a fact of life, my guy. I'm personally looking at the Goodyear Wrangler Workhorse at about $250, if that helps, but I don't think anybody here is going to assume the liability of telling you it's a good idea. Best of luck with whatever you decide though. -laf

Let your wife drive. Mine bests me by about 1.5mpg on average.

Check to make sure the ac drain hose isn't clogged. That is the common cause of this when it's not wx dependent.

@Jay586 As Crusty said, we are unfortunately a mostly USDM forum. I did a quick facebook search though and found a group that may be helpful. Feel free to come back and post your adventures when you get your van, happy to have international outreach. Best of luck! -laf

Not to jack the thread, but we almost exclusively use a website called freecampsites.net. As @radin2son said, the forestry department offices will sell you enough maps to fill your NV, or you can download them online for free for most fed AND state parks. For that, we use the Avenza Maps app recommended by the forestry department. FreeRoam and Campendium are other options, although we don't use those much. Most of our stays are abandoned CCC camps, fire roads, public land, etc. - laf

Probably because it was so dismal, they didn't want people noticing it on the test drives. ?
-
Killer pics! All our adventures since the beginning of the year have been to race tracks. Your view is much better.

Do we even know how to reset the TPMS? I bolted mine on in the wrong locations...luckily I'm coming up on 10k miles so I can just put them in the right place this time. ?
-
Every time I see pics of this build, I want to go tear the inside out of my van and start over.

Kinda funny that the rear is exact fit and the slider is modified, bc the rear looks like a bunched up mess, and the slider looks like a perfect fit.

Replacing radio head unit - what are these wires?
Local Apparent Friday replied to tsenraem's topic in Audio & Navigation
The axxess modules are for retaining steering wheel controls with aftermarket decks.
