Hood Protector Exterior Stick-On Brackets
Chris_CommercialManager replied to muchtall's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I have never seen the product you are describing but if it's a matter matter of a good dual sided tape go to home depot or lowes and grab some 3m (red roll) dual sided sticky tape. I can't imagine that would not hold. -
Tons of good info here for you guys modding your vans. Just making sure you guys know it exists. http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/bbg.aspx Cheers guys, have a great weekend!!

Plate underneath body on drivers side
Chris_CommercialManager replied to nihil_perditi's topic in Exterior
I do not know offhand. However Nissan has the MOST useful tool that I've ever seen from a manufacturer to help with modding. It's called a body builders guide. I'm sure you can find the answer to many questions here. http://www.nissan-techinfo.com/bbg.aspx -
Installed bench seat in NV2500 Cargo
Chris_CommercialManager replied to BraapRider's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
That's interesting route you went. I do a TON of those. It was what we refer to as a "crew van". I use exclusively Freedman seats as they have a stranglehold on that market and make a very nice product. Unlike what you have though they are not quick disconnect. Did you add side glass on both sides too?? -
Don't expect anything. These products have very long life cycles. Like last year I'm sure we'll see some minor changes....IE 2015 side bags were optional, now standard. Added the SL model on cargo but it's just a gussied up SV from the previous year. We'd know about it if there was a big change by now. Rumors are abound about the GM thing though as radin2son has eluded to.

I am quite frankly surprised there is not more a "commercial" van owner participation rate. These guys do tons of cool things for their trades to equip their vans and really come up with awesome stuff. I mention the forum to almost every person that comes through my door. Excluding fleet I'm putting on average, 2-4 passenger vans and 10-15 vans into non "fleet hands" every month. I don't think a single person that I've told has become a member here. We are growing, just slowly........

2016 Nissan NV Passenger SL Air Cond Problem
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Flashman's topic in Climate Control
I don't think that I've ever been in modern car that does not do what you are describing. In fact I have a 2014 passenger van in the lot and it acts the same way as you are describing. Besides, I know that the subject can be taboo but a lot of people will tell you to turn your AC off a minute or two prior to turning the engine off as well as not starting with it on. Plenty of reading on the topic if you google it. -
Cargo or Passenger? V6 or V8
Chris_CommercialManager replied to macman58's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
I have clients that have gone both directions like you are considering. The bumpyness in the floor of the passenger is a non issue because there are covers and at minimum I'd think you'd have a roll out mat to sleep on and not even notice. As for the cargo, your up fit cost is way to much in my opinion. Buy a van with side glass, I'd add side glass to the other side opposite the door ($500 installed would be fair on that) and do your sleeper bench. 4k is probably double what I'd be able to get that done for. -
Let The Rumors Begin!!
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Chris_CommercialManager's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
You guys may be right, I have not done as much homework on the topic as it seems you guys have. However it has been mentioned internally before. We will see. Order guides? Who knows, I just started getting 2016 NV200's a month ago. That is one of those things, they'll show up when they do. -
http://www.trucktrend.com/news/163-1404-we-hear-gm-partnering-with-nissan-for-new-fullsize-vans/ This was brought to my attention internally. What an interesting event this would be. Of no doubt this would be HUGE for Nissan. The capital we would make, the ability to re invest into model variants. Oh my..........

A/C Blowing Cold Then Warm Air
Chris_CommercialManager replied to nv2500sl's topic in Climate Control
that's strange, haven't noticed it in any of mine but it's getting to that time of season, I'll see if mine do it. -
I have heard nothing. No rumors even (other than the drift model you see in the recent youtube vid, should be hitting showrooms shortly). However we should have another internal gathering coming up in the next few months so of course you guys now I'll keep you updated. Only thing of interest is if some of you remember, someone on here spotted a NVP with a cummins being tested (I forget where, maybe ohio). My Nissan rep didn't even know about it but did dig into it and said he could neither confirm nor deny B) .

NV vs Sprinter vs ? 4x4 family van
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Psyched's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
I hate to say this but the experience you have had is a unique one to say the least, and I'm sorry your vehicle hasn't brought you the reliability that it has to my fleet of customers. I realize I'm selling this product and as such my view may be skewed. But I can sell honda's, toyota's, ford's, or any other brand under our very large umbrella. On my NV's, no kidding, the largest repair that I have seen in a year and a half was my personal locksmith on the lot. he needed an AC unit replaced with 120k on it. As far as run time was concerned, he idles his truck all day everyday on the lot to run his inverters and power his air. Idling and idling and idling. Probably the most rigourous torture test out there, engines love to be run, not idled. So throw the 120k miles out the window. These things are so reliable. My business owners and companies that run them REAL hard, towing bobcats, granite slabs, etc etc do not break them. I personally drove one with right under 300k on it and it did not feel "worn out" in any sense. From the seats, to the interior, to mechanically it was in good shape. He went through an alternator or two, some sets of plugs, etc, but no major failure. We own a ford store, I can tell you for a fact that the ecoboost in anything other than unloaded form suffers greatly on mpg. Medium or heavy loads forget about it, it's on par with every other gas engine moving a box through the wind going down the highway. There is nothing in store that we know of for the NVP in the "near" future. Sales are so good, don't think a change is imminent at this point in time.- 13 replies

NV vs Sprinter vs ? 4x4 family van
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Psyched's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
I sold sprinters for quite some time, I'm a big fan. They have their place and for certain people they are the right fit. However I needed not read past the part where you said you are tired of making repairs (110k). Your specific year sprinter, 2.7 5cyl, has been regarded as the most reliable version ever imported into the country, by a mile. Just some food for thought. And add to that, this is the first year for the 4x4? I personally never buy anything it's first year out. Too many bugs and kinks to work out of a platform that already needs more maintenance than the average vehicle. If you want something you put gas in and go, and the NV has enough space inside to accommodate your needs, the nv will provide you with great resale and as frustration free operation as your going to find by any manufacturer. PS, sell your sprinter on the open market, don't trade it in. It's worth good money on craigslist or auto trader but a dealer that is not familair with them with think to the contrary. I would have that model in my back lot many times doing walks with customers to my inventory that had 500k miles on them original drive train and tranny. Virtually nothing on them would work but when you put the key in it would go ha. Without knowing wheelbase or your specific market, even if it's beat up it should be worth 12-13k or if nice 15k. I'd imagine there are plenty of people in Northern CA in the "agriculture" business that would find that vehicle very desirable if you couldn't find a local tradesman or don't have much of a European population that go crazy for those 5cyls..- 13 replies

Have literally had no time to be on here. Just thought I'd throw up a quick blurb you guys might enjoy. So production is up for sure on the NVP. Which is a good thing, I'm getting I'd say close to double what I could get last year, and selling through them. As are my counterparts. Not just at my dealership specifically but with ALOT of my counterparts on the East Coast we have all been having banner months with the whole lineup, with several of us having the single best month ever in a few years last month. We seem to be coming increasing sales in all segments, large business's, small business's and private parties. One big contributor seems to be Amazon, who as you may or may not know is building their own delivery service. They seem to be snatching up quite a few Large NV's to say the very least. Our NV200's are moving AWESOME at the moment. All good things! I think you guys will be seeing more NV's on the road and more traffic here.

I've used FatMat, purchased off of amazon on all of my vehicles over the years. My one mustang has seen winters in Chicago and summers in the deserts of CA (palm springs) in regular 110+ temps. Never has a piece pulled off or smelled funny.

Which NV to get?
Chris_CommercialManager replied to Sesker15's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
If you were in my dealership based off of what little you have said I'd steer you towards a 1500SV, probably with tec if it's personal vehicle (bluetooth and camera are nice). You'd be at a nice price point and I don't see the need to spend the extra $$ on the 2500 as you won't need the stiffer ride for extra payload capacity you'll never use. One caveat to that is if you want the center console. It is convenient but I'm not sure if that plus the power inverter in your case would be worth it. 1500SV will have sonar, keyless, all power, basically everything the 2500 does minus the aforementioned inverter and console. My personal opinion on the 6 vs 8 is the 6 is more than fine for your application. I have spent ALOT of time in both and for me, unless you were doing a lot of towing with substantial weight you don't "need" the 8. However alot of that is personal preference. -

Congrats on the van, very vad a**. I'd sure wish a 4x4 would make it's way by my dealership, I'd love to check out the undersides.
