  1. Agree with aztec. You could always pay the dealer but an independent shop would be better. Wouldn’t worry about the sales manager as it isn’t in the job description to care about sold vehicles. Then there is the limited life expectancy of NV production. Like the energy of all your posts. The site’s pulse rate went up.
  2. Initially I thought Nissan Corp was involved in the forum. I believe someone said they were not, nor were they interested in the owner experience. Robert, the site moderator, could clarify this. In the case of Sportsmobile forum, not part of the business, it is similar to ancestry.com. E series, particularly Quigley conversions, are sold, resold and sold again, all documented on their west coast and southwest oriented forum. The Fresno facility is no more but the forum thrives. NVs are not likely to achieve this, but a 4 year old cargo van, with 90k and 10k warranty remaining could be a great dirtbag, minimalist dream build. Still seeing more and more NVs. At one traffic light, there was a NVP, a cargo NV and a high top diy camper conversion. Maybe GM will take over production to add to their rebadged NV 200? Who needs another euro van.
  3. And would anyone notice? The Sportsmobile forum is “almost” exclusively E series oriented even though the last one off the Ford line was in 2014. Can NV’s 10 production years keep enough in circulation? Titans have been around since late 2003 and NVs basically are Titans with a van in back. Based on businesses turning NVs over at 4 years and 90k, they may still be a good buy compared to euro style vans. Will the forum live on?
  4. When home, we use our independent mechanic. When traveling it is easier to find a commercial dealer for service than a quick whatever not familiar with NVs. Takes some looking to find one out west. Another factor is shuttle service to and from work place if you are lucky enough to have a dealer close by. Another is habit or life time service plans. So, the short answer is yes.
  5. That said, you can take a Transit to any Ford dealer rather than the current setup for NVs. Then again, there are fewer NV trips to the dealership. (DaveMinBako may not be aware NVs have to go to designated commercial dealerships for complaints and warranty issues.) Same for regular service if it is not diy or independent shop.
  6. Know the areas well. We find NVs to be very comfortable. The passenger seat is oddly lower than the driver’s but can be fixed by adding a swivel if you travel with a passenger. The passenger seat folds forward to create a desk. You answered the high top vs standard. Crosswinds haven’t been an issue for our standard top. Same for V6. V8 MPGs, not towing, average 15+. Has been 14+ when in the mountains. Interstate driving is 16-17 mpg (no head wind). Driving on steep secondary or dirt roads will drop it to 12 mpg. Better mpg with V6 and no complaints about power. Sportsmobile conversion of standard top cargo NV added 1000 lbs bringing it to weight of the passenger van. Add another 1000 lbs of gear, water, food and occupants. Tow mode (V8) is very useful, even if not towing, going down steep gradients. Like into Death Valley. Manual mode also is useful on slow going dirt or gravel roads when you know you can lock out 3rd, 4th and 5th gears. Or whatever isn’t needed.
  7. Aztec didn’t mention better leg room and decent ground clearance. Get the V8, older or new version. Great for cruising on interstates and secondary roads. Very stable. No issues on dirt roads. Most diy conversions are high tops but you may not be looking for this. conversiontrader.com has a 2014 standard top V6 basic+ conversion for under $19k. There are 2 other standard top NVs for sale. Put Nissan in the the search option. Great for ideas. Only issue is lack of extended van. You will have less interior room than your E series. Not an issue for short trips but it seems to shrink the longer the trip.
  8. I remember driving up close to a wall and attempting to adjust the headlights before inspection. Now it is just emissions, at least in AZ. You are probably right about the switch from left to right. Save the units just in case the van relocated back to the UK.
  9. A little far afield for this forum. Since these are popular camper vans in the UK, check to see if there is a UK forum. Or, google adjusting headlamp units. victoriamg.com has an article on how adjust the unit. Don’t know what mg means but it is Victoria car club. France may have a different system.
  10. Glad to hear everything is ok. Our NV has been sitting since our last trip in February. Too hot (Over a hundred days of ?+ this summer) and too many fires everywhere. Then there is covid... Good to see people are still buying NVs and posting. Bigslick, thanks for taking the time to read old posts.
  11. PM him as he has been absent for quite awhile.
  12. Their product and service seems to be hit and miss. Mostly missed based on your experience. Why would a dealer invest so much into this conversion and not invest in standards and service? Rhetorical, I know. With the demise of NVs sometime in 2021, this dealer’s investment will be worthless.
  13. Odd place to post this, but if you mean full ? and ?, it will take up a lot of cargo space. Most regret the decision to go with this. We have an outdoor shower that we use sparingly. Mostly due to water consumption. Our shower is connected to a permanent, internal 20 gallon tank and pump. When needed we use engine heat to warm the water. The sink drains into a very small gray water tank. Useless really so we drain it into a pan. Some places prohibit dumping gray water onto the ground. I have seen a high top NV with an internal shower. Minimal set up. Water tank, shower pan and drain (no gray water tank) and shower curtain. Portable toilet fits in the shower pan. Similar set up for standard top that was for sale on Sportsmobile site.
  14. I believe you but find what the salesman said hard to believe. Nissan Corp is cutting costs to save itself.
  15. Welcome. There older discussions on both. Less so for 2017+ engine.
  16. Although this hasn’t been a problem for everyone, it may be the one reason not to buy an NVP. This comment doesn’t help you and Nissan Corp isn’t going to as well if they discontinue NVs next summer. Try the diy fixes mentioned above or take it to an independent ac shop.(Look at the “Need help with rear ac” thread as well.) Show the shop the suggested fixes. If the dealer wrote up your ac issue and cannot fix it, you can always try to get Nissan Commercial customer services to reimburse you for any independent shop work. Good luck with that... Your NVP is too good a van to not try to fix this on your own. Sadly, if this can’t be fixed you may have to cut your loses and go with a Transit. Google Transit ac issues first to see if similar problems exist.
  17. Not a “commercial.” That would ruin NV’s “what’s that” reputation. I meant go to Nissan’s Commercial web site or google 2021 NVs. Misinformation on on my part. I can’t find 2021 NVs mentioned on the Nissan site. Another site says they are being built but cost more. Another says production will cease summer, 2021.
  18. You need to provide more information about yourself and how you plan to use your van. For example, if you are 6’4”+ you cannot standup comfortably in a high top. Are you planning a minimal conversion or full on tiny home? Stealth camper? conversiontrader.com has a standard top conversion for $29k. Search “Nisssan” to find it. There are many, perhaps too many, Sprinter and Promaster vans and a few Transits conversions on this site as well. Good for ideas if you are doing a diy.
  19. Aztec answered the first question. 2021 NVs are being built. Check Nissan Commercial for info. There seem to be more commercial use NVs on the road. Maybe the delivery service has scooped up all the euro style vans leaving NVs for tough duty.
  20. Great description, job and photos. We considered doing something similar but opted to forego an awning. Too low when it is hot and shade is needed for the “loft.” We went with a screen room instead. I think CC makes a better pop top the our SMB as far as NVs are concerned.
  21. For what it’s worth, literally. To my knowledge, there have only been 2 resales of Nissan Sportsmobile conversions. 30 were built. Almost all at the Fresno, CA facility. Fresno is no more. Sprinter and Transit builds in the works will be completed. 2 year wait time. “SMB” Reno will build the E-Classic (Ford 350 cutaway) and Fuso. Will this impact our NV SMB resale value? Who ever thought a NV could be a classic?
  22. Welcome. Thanks for posting a photo. If you have time, run through the conversion/buying process. Same for how it fits your needs. There is an interest.
  23. According to a Motor trend article (8/12), NVs will continue into 2021, unchanged. They didn’t even have to change the photo. Titan also continues in 2021 getting more power, a 9 speed transmission and improved multimedia. Is that important? MT likes the new Frontier.
  24. Are you moving when you engage tow mode? For some reason our 2012 has to be stopped when we need to engage tow mode. Helps with steep down grades even when not towing. So we have to pay attention to gradient signs. With covid it has been a long time since we used our van. I can’t remember if I have to get out drive to neutral or park. No problems disengaging it when moving. Wonder if if it is a DNA thing? Can we trace it back to the same worker? Others have been able to engage it while driving.
