That is news to us. Where did you get your info? If it were true, there would be many posts here and on FB. For some cars, it could be said that they are built to last the warranty and it is time to buy new. The current car industry would love this. For trucks, this isn’t the case and NVs are trucks, not a euro-style van. Even then, I doubt engine failure is a major problem for “vans.”

Does the 2020 Nissan NV Cargo look like a Timberland work boot?
radin2son replied to Futbol's topic in Lounge - Nissan NV
Best van to own if you have big work boots. -
Nissan Commercial has a link for aftermarket vendors for cargo and NVP. It may have been here awhile since I rarely go to to this site. I didn’t look at it closely, but Advanced and Quigley are listed for 4x4 conversions. Tim Dahle’s Titan parts conversion isn’t listed as near as I could tell. With the reported demise of NVs and Titans, wonder what will happen with this project.

Van options transit pro master Nissan comparison
radin2son replied to SteveMorg's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Reliability is a plus and engine access is excellent. There is a problem with NV’s wheelbase, 146.1” which is longer than the standard Chevy/GMC, 135.2”. If he needs 148”+, he will have to go with an extended van. Same for height; at 6’4”, he can’t stand up in an NV if that is what he wants. (NV Commercial has a comparison link (Chevy/GMC and Sprinter. Specifications for every NV are there as well.) Even current NV owners wanted an extended version and more interior height. We would have liked 1-2’ more interior room. -
Van options transit pro master Nissan comparison

Buying a NV cargo van is easy. Standard or High roof with V6 or V8. No medium roof height, extended version, wheelbase or length difference. If you can live with this, you will have a great truck. -
If it is lifted, chances are the lift kit is from Advanced 4x4 in Salt Lake City. Check the other posts below yours. If no one with a lifted NVP responds, you could always call Advanced to ask your questions.

Looks good. You have great ventilation in the tent. If you need to use your NV for sleeping, and don’t already have screens, SkeeterBeater makes front window and rear door screens. Screenz, if they make them for NVs, uses a pillow case design rather than magnets. In windy conditions, skeeterBeaters can blow off. We have been using the same skeeterBeaters for 7+ years.

This is an old topic, so you may want to pm Bamps or others. He has posted in a long time. Bamps, however, is probably busy contemplating whether or not to buy a 2020 Frontier with new engine and 9 speed tranny before it comes here as a “world” pickup.

6in suspension DIY basket and 19.5 heavy hualers

Post photos as your project progresses. To get “better” response, post your conversion project and photos under 4x4 conversion. -
One of our neighbors has a Transit cargo van (alarm business no less) that beeps early most mornings. His solution is to get the van in motion and out of reverse. Helps that van is parked on a hill. Your choice, wire or hill.

Wasn’t the original nike van a VW? They initially sold shoes out of the VW at running events. Our 2012 NV will be much more dependable than our ‘83 Westy. (I’m still trying to figure out why we kept it for 16 years.) VW no longer has a van here, but there still are articles on the VW “magazine” web site. I doubt Nissan will devote any brochure space to their adventure in commercial vans.

Will this site continue after the last NV comes off the assembly line. May have already? 2021? There is no site tie in to Nissan and the site gets very little traffic as well. Odd that there are more cargo NVs on the road and more business users recently posting here.

Conversion Trader has a 2012 NV standard top 2500 for $36,500 with 43,426 miles. Nice looking conversion, that should provide NVP owners with some good ideas.

2006 Titan post is for old V8, so there may not be a NV TSB for the new V8 if you have a 2017 or newer NV. Or it could be that the issue is considered Titan only, which makes no sense. Were you unable able to get it in manual mode later or it is just not working. Dealer should be able to deal with this if they also can’t get it to work.

6/8/20 seems to be the date this got the most buzz on the various auto sites. All agree Nissan will no longer make Titans, NV 200 and NV 1500/2500/3500 and the current Frontier. It will be replaced with the “world” version. Nissan has not set a date. What is curious is that NV 200s are also built all over the world. Another is that Nissan may import the Renault as a NV 300.

The person who buys a 1979 Chevy van for $30k, with “new” vans in that price range, must be nostalgic or wants a older van that attracts attention and says I’ve been doing this a long time. Or just as you said, camper vans sell themselves right now. I always wanted a ‘67 VW camper van. Ended up buying a used ‘83 Vanagan Westy in 1984. No nostalgia for that van. When we decide to sell our 2012 Sportsmobile NV, we will miss it.

NV conversions may hold their resale value, but have any sold? With a few exceptions, it is unknown if any listed on this site and on conversion trader are sold. On conversion trader there there is a 1979 Chevy G20 for sale ($30k) with 48k on the odometer. My first reaction is who would pay this much for a “classic” especially when you look at the driver area. It is, however, a great conversion. A similarly aged Dodge is long gone. Or or would you rather buy a NV? Design is 8 years and counting with rumors of its demise.

We have the oem front mats since 2012 and they have been great. No visible wear over 85k.

Odd that these have been around since 2018, and no one posted this, or 2018 was their template. Same stealth marketing as NVs.

Picking up my new NV 3500 Passenger Van Soon!
radin2son replied to Blue Viking's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Welcome. Post photos after you pick it up. Lots of diy projects on line so look at other van makes for ideas. An issue will be covering up side and rear windows. Curtains are ok but a better idea I read about were solid removable, interior widow panels. Roof rack, ladder and carriers are a must. adventure-journal.com under “overlandia” had an article on sleeping in your car and recommended sleeping pads, NEMO Roamer ($230) and Luno Life ($225). If they fit in a stuff sack, I would go with these rather than a memory foam mattress. Assuming you you have done this before, you know how much gear ends up in your vehicle, needed or not. We are still learning to take less... -
In our area, few NVPs. Cargo vans, increasing in number, are mostly small business, not fleet buys, which may be the reason Nissan will dump NVs. They never built enough for this anyway. Wouldn't you know. Later this morning, saw a silver NVP driving out of a parking lot with the ease of an Altima.
-
I suppose it can be worth it depending on where you live, weather, use of van and knowing when to turn around.
-
Google modular camper conversion kits and you should get some ideas. Shankerw posted an album that may help as well. Or look at diy conversions here. Careful, this could be the start of a conversion slippery slope.
-
Won’t mean too much. Lots of vehicles have met the same fate. Good work vans will hold their value over the course of many owners. NVPs may as well if Euro, unibody vans don’t hold up well or can’t do what an NV can. It may be a good time to upgrade to a 2020 NV particularly if you are considering a 4x4 conversion.

MilesD Saw your post on the Sportsmobile forum. I was looking for something else and came across an album on this site called NV Overlanding Setup that features under-bed or seats out storage drawers as well as some other great stuff. Shankerw posted this.
