Since so few NV 200 owners post, what is your impression of this world van? Where was it made? Thanks for posting the commercial conversion.

2016 NV 3500 New purchase
radin2son replied to Daniel Douglas's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
You can't go wrong with your choice. You will get to love the side mirrors, even more so if you can adjust them to almost entirely get rid of blind spots and see where you are in your traffic lane. The hood obscures a lot. -
Very much off topic, particularly for the professional or hobby level photographers. I learned about this iPhone app at a basic photo class offered by Summit Hut in Tucson. It is called Manual ($2.99). Unless you have the iPhablet 7+, it gives you a telephoto option and more control of the shot you want. I wish I knew about this sooner...

Interesting summary. I don't see Nissan Commercial making significant changes in the look of the van, other than adding extended and cab only versions, but it would be great if they would do a follow up user feedback, particularly from NVP owners.

2016 NV 3500 New purchase
radin2son replied to Daniel Douglas's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself!
Assuming you have driven one, the rear camera, front (if part of the trim level) and rear sonar, tow mirrors and raising up the driver seat help all of us park. The ride is great, but you have to get used to braking. There have been a few posts regarding steering and alignment, but most of us feel they track straight. That said, be sure you really need the size of an NV. If plans to tow a tt are "near" future, you will have a great vehicle. But, teenagers' interests change and there are smaller vehicles that can tow. If you ruled out all other vehicles, you can't go wrong with a NV... -
Thanks for getting back on this. By consumer affairs, do you mean Nissan commercial? If still telephone only, it would be great if they would use written complaints/response like they do on the auto site. Makes for a better record. Great that you got the problem resolved. On an aside, Ken Garf was one of 8-10 dealers who sold Sportsmobile. $10k markup.

The "wave" may be an adult thing by virtue of where we sit, but we have a whole host of kids riding in NVPs who have far better imagination than most of us. I just hope they don't come up with something I can't get my fingers around... What are Jeep and Mini Cooper waves?

vaintrend.com reports the Canton, MS faculty will be ramping up production of this much acclaimed, best selling large van in light of the new direction of Nissan Commercial. That is, commercial users only. Nissan Commercial will soon introduce an an extended high top NV 3500 HDE and NVaP (NVairPorter), which will replace the NVP. Both will be diesel powered, except for California, which will have a V6 Hybrid. Sales data shows most NVPs sold to date were SL trim, which prices out the same as the base Qv35 gasoline version. NVPs offer none of the options on the Qv35, diesel and factory 4x4. If it is available on the new Titan it is standard or an option on the Qv35. NVP loyalty incentives will be offered. Psyched, When you mentioned San Raphael Swell, I thought that sounds familiar. Except for staying at Goblin Valley SP (profile photo), we've just driven around it and through it on our way to someplace else. Lots of paved roads to get into this 2000 sq mile public land. For anyone interested www.castlecounty.com is a good place to start. We're planning a trip to the Water Pocket Fold in Capital Reef NP in the next couple of weeks. We should add San Raphael. We like your diy camping trailer and how you set up the kitchen. Everything has its place. Same concept for our NV. When I look at the above post and photo, I think what a mess. The campstove, pots and pans, utensils and fuel canisters fit in the gray duffle bag to the right, which slides under the rear platform/bed. The folding table fits into the black case and fits upright next to the rear passenger window. Water hose and power cord fit into gray water pan that slides into place behind the gray duffle bag. Take in the laundry, pull down the bungee cord and... good to go.

Great photo. Love all the bikes... I've always preferred having biles on top, but with our poptop, I'm not likely to muscle it up.

Thanks for getting back on this. You have to wonder if factory quality control decreases with increased production and long production runs. Or do they outsource this to dealers to resolve? Do we check need a list of things before we take delivery?

Psyched, Did you replace your 06 Sprinter with a NV or were you test driving the rack mounts? Looked at your Baja trip. Time to get the Mexico map out again.

Since we had a $100 Discount Tire rebate, we decided to update the nav card. It was on sale. Go to www.nissannavigation.com if you have any questions. The card, new and old clearly show the date and part number. Old cards can be reused after formatting them. No instructions on how to do this. Not something we need to do. Installation was easy, maybe. None of the applications screens came up and the provided code or "reference number" wasn't needed. The system did reboot and the nav works. Waiting on a response to my question "did it download properly?" We just wanted for interstate updates and best ways to get through or around major cities.

Just make sure you wipe the shift lever clean in case Nissan does a postmortem forensic analysis. But why would you do this? What is the difference between idle rpm and taking your foot off the gas in overdrive? And if there is a significant difference, what do you gain? This is not necessarily related to this but I upshifted manual mode thinking I was in 3rd. I was in 4th and it shifted to 5th. I didn't even know it was there.

White House is a great BLM campground and trailhead off route 89 between Kanab, UT and Page, AZ. We tried to stay here last spring, but it was a 103* so we continued on to another BLM campground north of Kanab. This time it was 73* and got down to 34*. Originally it had 5 tent walkin sites and a parking lot for backpackers hiking to or from Lee's Ferry on the Colorado River. It was under construction, more sites and a bigger parking lot. 2 seater pit toilet may have been there before. No water, none at all. Our site was graded for campervans, as not too many RVs would try the 2 mile graded road. They could but... Our site had no table so we got out our portable table and outdoor kitchen. REi outlet sold the table. No instructions so we may not have it set up as intended. Poor reviews but it works fine. Only 2 other campers and the parked cars were very quiet.

Our 05 Passat tdi wagon is a little dated, too big for our current needs and a lota difficult to enter and exit, so we have begun looking at, but staying away from actual cars, to see what is out there. Small crossovers and CVT. Small is good, but not sure about CVT. Gas power with claimed mpg close to real tdi mpg also is good, given the price of diesel. Planned use would be day trip exploring back roads, but the clearance is generally only 6+". Road clearance for a 2x4 Frontier is 8+". By chance, I came across road clearance for 2017 NV 1500 and 3500 NVP. Both listed at 8.1" which makes me wonder how much clearance we've had on some roads. Also came across a edmunds.com review of 2017 cargo NVs and NVPs. Cargo vans will get steel mesh in the rear and slider windows (still an option), more body color panels (bumpers and grill?) and no mention of new V8. "Odd looking" NVPs will get the new V8 with more power. Not exactly news... For comparison, they suggest the "window" Sprinter and Ram. Did someone say odd looking? No news on mpg.

Even with psi way off, NVs track well. Low and high roof NVs catch a lot of cross wind, but get right back on track. Agree that this is a new one...

Found the photo I took of the VW. It was a vertical shot and I had to make it "square" then crop it so it posted correctly. Wish the monitors or "guides" would fix this. Same for adding 2017 model year. Something serious going on with the engine. Also an aftermarket poptop. We have seen a lot of restored Vanagans and Syncros but wouldn't want to return to one after having our NV for 4+ years. Back to the original thread, sort of... In the U.K. they turn the NV 200 into nice looking poptop campers. Few US NV 200 owners participate in this forum, I think in part to the absence of a passenger version. I think there was a US owner who planned to camperize his and another from a U.K. owner waiting on delivery of his camperized NV 200. We have seen several diy Transits and 1 Ram City. Both look bigger than the NV 200.

Agree, agree... Enjoy your trip and post some photos.

It should (?) have a part number on it or if you go into the setup mode, it may (?) show the year. In the past, new NVs had the previous year card. To get the part number go online to the nav store.

Great photos to compare the 2. Earlier this month enroute to Joshua Tree NP, we passed a motorcoach towing a 70s VW camper. The VW was that yellow/orange color and had swooshes to match the motorcoach paint scheme. No need for a spare tire, just tow a spare camper.

Looks like you are ready to surf, just add ice.

Put 1642 miles (11 day trip) on the Michelin Defender tires. Like them so far. No tire noise beyond what you expect on different surfaces. Only issue may be tire wear. Major complaint was only getting 20k. Primarily pickups and SUVs, so don't know how the E rated tires on NVs will wear. Problem again getting the correct psi. Told Tucson Discount Tire I wanted 50 psi front and 80 psi rear because our van is always fully loaded. Checked TPMS and they were off 5-10 psi. Corrected this at Joshua Tree NP; temp in the 40s. Had a vibration at 70 mph and Discount Tire on Route 89 in Flagstaff rebalanced them. Had their tire warranty, so no charge. Again, reminded them about the psi. No problem! The next morning (34*), the TPMS warning came on for right front low pressure (40 psi). All tires were again off 5-10 psi. Corrected it... I initially thought the TPMS may be off but my gauge says it isn't. Low temperature shouldn't be problem. 92* yesterday in Tucson.

Welcome. You will get what you get with each tankful being different based terrain, weather, how you drive it and the "click off" at the pump. You are better off enjoying it for the reason(s) you bought your NVP.

I did, but not sure other driver noticed. I'm sure it is the same all over. On rural roads you wave at everyone, even if it is the minimalist wave not letting go of the steering wheel. Not sure how to describe that without conjuring up the wrong type of wave, but you know the wave I mean...
