  1. One more try... Saw a high top white NV, possibly a diy camper conversion, with NC plates heading north on I-15 from Mesquite, NV to Saint George, UT. Thought she, the driver, might be headed to Zion NP, where we are now. Cold and windy...
  2. All are car based units. In 2015-16 they upgraded the units. 2017 nav cards reflect this. Why not just install a camera and mirror screen if you have rear windows. Get a Garmin or use a smart phone. We have the 2011-12 unit. No problems. Card upgrades have not been worth the $100-149 for updated roads and how to find the nearest Subway or Walgreens...
  3. From a business standpoint, I'd stick with your mechanic. Regarding appointments, Nissan commercial is/was supposed to place a priority on cargo NVs, as in next service bay. This may just have been hype or rumor. If they send you an evaluation for service, the slow guy is an easy target. You could also call and complain to NC consumer advocates. If nothing else you could see if there do have priority service for business users. Our NV or NVPs may fall into the long wait group, although express service has been pretty good.
  4. Well said. I have stopped responding to some who are/were regulars but don't acknowledge help or get back. There seems to be renewed enthusiasm, so we may want to watch and see how it pans out.
  5. Good to know "some" non-commercial dealers will do NV service, but... If some commercial dealers have trouble getting it right on NVs that have been around for 5+ years, what could possibly go wrong. It may be a footnote only in the 2012 service manual, that I did not see until after adding the optional to the regular 30k and 60k service. The transmission fluid is supposed to be lifetime and is not to be changed at 30 or 60k like most vehicles. I could not find any service interval where it should be changed... you would think the service writer and tech would know this. It may fall into the "it can't hurt" category.
  6. There seems to be a changing of the guard; that is, new buyers and posts which is good news. It, however, is increasingly difficult to tell legitimate posts. Very often profiles include only the date joined. There also are more Facebook members, but I don't have any info on profiles. I understand being cautious about providing info on the internet but profiles could include type of NV owned and geographical location. Looking to buy one, no problem just put where you are. It appears most, if not all, already are doing this if the full site is any indication. Since I mainly use the mobile version it isn't as evident. Regarding trolls or really negative comments, rarely does it escalate. Rants, however, can be therapeutic or at least "we" like to think so. It just feels good sometimes...
  7. If you take the time to post, at least name the dealer who provided the service, good or bad. Otherwise the info is of no value. mk1_62 What "shop next door" are you referring to? Nissan or quick lube place? I get the annoyance of you sitting there and the time factor, so maybe your best bet is a reliable quick lube place or do it yourself. When home, I make service appointments, but on the road we have had great express service just showing up.
  8. It's time to revive this thread with all the new owners and posters. The emphasis is on good service, but you can add buying as well. We, however, all know that the best price does not mean great service. Hence, no need to stick with the commercial dealer with a terrible service department You can imagine that we pay attention to this when we travel. No way can we hope to find a good independent mechanic... plus we will bypass a commercial dealer with poor service.
  9. The 2017 nav cards update costs $149 online from their nav store. $3.95 shipping. 2 different part numbers based on model years, 2011-14 and 2015-16. Some interesting new features for 2015-16 NVs: Lane change alerts for exits. Merging? Voice activation/recognition. (I have my doubts how well this will work but it would be great to be able to make changes while moving. If it lets you do this?) Speed limit notification to avoid tickets. (A miniature speed limit sign on the display? Or a voice reminder? Very annoying if it nags at you if over the speed limit.) For 2011-14 NVs, none of the new features are mentioned. Basically just an update of roads and places, so not a great upgrade. New 2017 owners, let us know how well the 2017 nav card features work.
  10. Interestingly. Nissan Connect has "speed alert." This is available in their cars. Not sure if it is available in the Frontier or new Titan. 2017 NVs may or may not have this option. Well, maybe they do with the 2017 nav card update.
  11. The online Nissan nav store has the 2017 card for $149 plus $3.95 shipping. If you have the 2016 card your dealer most likely has the same in stock if at all. If the new card features work, it may be a good upgrade. For you, it should be free. If you have any problems, call Nissan Commercial consumer advocates to see if they will give you the card. Ironically, our 2012 NV is no longer listed on their year menu. Also, check your tire pressure. There are several instances where new NVs have been delivered with 70+ psi all around. Apparently the factory/techs/detailers don't check this. TPMS will only tell you if the psi is low, not high.
  12. I forgot to mention that you can use your phone as long as you click on the full version at the bottom of the page. Same process as the iPhone or laptop, but too small for my eyes and fingers to easily navigate.
  13. Welcome. The easiest way is to use a pad/laptop. Go to more reply options and find your photos, select/chose file and upload. Stay away from vertical photos as they usually post horizontally. There is a way to correct this. It it easier just to take a horizontal photo. You can add photos to any previous post. Assuming you got the nav package, what year nav card is in the slot? Not long ago,Nissan offered the 2017 card a full price. Any day now they will take $50 off. If you have a 2016, see if you can get the 2017 for free. Most card updates haven't been worth getting but ours is 6 years old. Do post your mpg as there are some sitting on the fence about whether to buy a 2016 or 17.
  14. None. Chris_cm probably is the best source. In Tucson, the commercial dealer claims to have sold 15 diesel Titans. Had 21 gas Titans on the lot. The 1 and only new Titan I've seen is the gas version. Locally, this could mean no one is interested in diesel. Gas is cheap and diesel is $.60 more a gallon. If this is true around the country, maybe Nissan will see it as more attractive to commercial users. Pure speculative nonsense on my part...
  15. You might have a long wait. But then you'll be ready to do the upgrades again... You are the first to deal with the sliding door track. Hope aftermarket is paying attention to what you and others have done. What part of the country are you in? 70% tint on windshield? The photos are on your other post.
  16. Welcome. Looks like you have already enjoyed modifying your NV. Wheels, tires, no emblems and black front Nissan emblem...Flat black hood?

    Thanks

I've seen trailers as well. Sharp. One was pulled by a fully restored 70s Toyota Landcruiser. When I was getting my tires today, there was a well worn Tacoma getting new BFG tires. It had a roof rack and a bed rack for a RTT. Sounds like you are putting together just what you want. Need any recommendations for a pee bottle, shovel or bags to pack out the tp? It's not just the Feds who are changing public land rules, state lands have new rules as well.

    Tire Update

Purchased 4 Michelin Defender tires (LT245/70) today. $183 a tire with $100 rebate for 4 "best" tires from Discount Tire. Had them replace the TPMS for $28. (Nissan I believe charges $64.) Much more aggressive tread than Transforce so these should work fine for us. Transforce had 61110 miles on them. I could see and feel the wear bars and the sidewalls were cracking, so it was time. Replacement would have been $206 a tire. No sales at dealer or from Firestone. ASD Dad, NVair and KMG, thanks for the feedback. I'll post how they work out...

    Thanks

Tent camping, not your fullbathtowmobile? I think you mentioned considering one of those "car"top tents? We see a lot of them in our travels. I still think they would be a great way to turn an NVP into a camper van when needed. There were a lot of rigs towing keeps at Organ Pipe.

    Tire Update

I'll have to retire soon while on top, so when you catch me people won't say "he hung on too long." Maybe I can be poster emeritus? Oysterandthepearl on instagram has 2 photos; one of her NV stuck in the mud. Heavy snow while waiting for a tow truck. The other is being loaded onto the tow truck. She had a cell phone booster that enabled her to call. I'm trying to avoid that. Most of our driving is on secondary paved roads with a few side trips on maintained gravel roads. Thanks for the reminder about lower mpg. Edit: It is Michelin Defender, not destiny, discovery or whatever I was thinking. They still sell LTX MS 2 tires but are special order. Firestone has 2 NV posts; both positive. Finally able to get through to discount tire web site. Sale email said $100 off "best" tires. Not so, because their idea of best was very expensive AT tires that I would never put on a NV.

    Tire Update

Don't worry about it. You respond/follow up unlike many who seek help etc. Michelin has replaced the MS-2 with Destiny. Supposed to be a better tire, but maybe not for HD use. They are $100 off this weekend. I found only 2 tire reviews by NV owners. For the life of me I can't remember where or what tire. Fortunately I'm not pressed to get tires just for a sale price. Nice, if I find the right tire.

    Tire Update

The more I research the less inclined I want to buy the AT-m tires. Consumer reports has reviews of the noice level increasing at 15k. One reviewer suggested the problem was that the softer, grippier compound wore off and the harder compound was noisier. Another reviewer said live with it; it's an AT tire after all. Now looking at Nitto and Falken... Firestone still in the mix along with the new Michelin LT tire. Maybe Presidents' Day will bring some good deals.
  23. Jon Nelson's 4x4 high top with pop top also showed up on instagram NV search. He's done a lot of work on it. Interesting use by Buschur of a NV conversion for a mobile support truck for engine management tuning at tracks or as he puts it "wherever there are cars." No indication that he tows a trailer to events. Never imagined there would be so many NV conversions. Well kept secret...
  24. Edgar Check out pixspot.xyz Bamps and Mahu have photos there and there is NV with bath that may interest you. It is under @davidbushur
