I was only half joking about car talk. They would have ruled out the non-sensor sound even if you had not told them you turn the system off. But, even they could not solve your issue without more info. You know the drill... When it happens, what's on, off, what you are doing etc. Good luck.

Time to resurrect this... Some mysteries from above remain and there are new ones: Caught somewhere between a Transit and a NV, forever I guess? (Odd, no Dodges mentioned, or maybe not...) Front sensors still beeping to a tune no one knows? How many bikes will fit in a NV and is PT covered by the 100k warranty? There have to be more...

Recv'd rear screen for our low top NV on 8/8. Fast turn around. Screen (56" x 64") is black and heavier, more durable (?), than the front window screens. 64" across is a tight fit over the weather strip, so not all magnets find metal. This is definely true for the areas near the tail lights and plastic trim on the floor area. It should stay in place just fine. The only foreseeable issue will be rain and having to exit the van to remove the screen and shut the doors. A less serious issue may be curious mammals. Our VW had a rear sceen and I woke up one night while camped along the Big Sur to find 2 raccoons looking in. You know that feeling when someone is staring at you. -
KMG posted this site www.nissanfactoryparts.com that with your knowledge of Frontier parts should get you what you want. I suspect dash forward share parts. Then again maybe not. I just checked and it was temporarily unavailable.

Ordered a rear panel (56"x64) for our low top NV SMB. Panel cost $116.40. The email doesn't mention free shipping over $75 so go to the home page to get the code. It may have automatically deducted this but not clear. KMG, Skeeter Beater is in your state. Not sure if they are still owned by the same family. For anyone needing screens these are the way to go. Very durable. Can't wait for the extra ventilation. While I was posting this, Mona at Skeeter Beater got back to me and will correct my order and all others using the email "blast." Their omission. This is the way to do business. -
Thinking of making my own roof rack / moon roof

Nihil_Perdidi (think I got that right) installed a boat hatch that should be just what you want. Some questioned the placement location and need for reinforcement. It, however, would not get in the way of the rack. Check for "Relevant notes..." under conversions. The Beast just posted photos of his rack and others have posted good info as well. -

www.theskeeterbeater.com has just introduced screens for the side and rear doors for variety of SUVs and vans. $79.99 to $149.99. -
It may cost me an ice cream, but I'll stop the ice cream truck who roams our neighborhood with his annoying repetitive music blaring. He may have the system you need plus be able to run several freezers.

Mossy was 1 of 8-10 dealers who sold SMBs. I think our NV originally came from there and Dublin bought it at some point in the conversion process. In fall, 2012, it was hard to find a NV to buy, at least in AZ. We gave up on the idea of buying a van to convert. Great family dynamics. Nothing but respect for families who adopt.

Welcome. Sometimes when I engage tow mode, at least I think I have, the light doesn't come on or I don't see it. Nebulous I know, but ithe dash light is is in a spot where the steering wheel can hide it. When you engage tow mode, have your passenger look to to see if it shows "tow." Tow mode can also be used to control speed on steep declines when not towing. Watch the revs go up but no need to worry. Make sure you get the 2016 chip. It is rare that parts are in stock and it will be take 2 days for the dealer to get it. Inconvenient if a dealer isn't close to you. If you can, use a commercial dealer and get to know the commercial sales manager, if there is one, and a service adviser most familiar with NVs. One thing I have been curious about is which sales associate sells NVs? The same one who sells Altimas? If so, are they familiar enough with NVs. It still bothers me that vehicles are being sold without a solid inspection. Waste of time to have to go back... How did we buy ours? It was still at Sportsmobile, so we didn't deal with a sales associate. Instead, we negotiated through Sportsmobile with the NV sales manager at Dublin Nissan near San Francisco. At the time, they were selling SMBs. 30 were built and 1 remains to be sold. This arrangement is no more.

If I recall correctly, you do mobile theater for schools and you wanted to maximize mpgs. Wouldn't a gas or solar generator be a good business investment? Why not use wireless speakers and your smart phone/pad. You also could wire your NV audio to external speakers and burn a cd of music of your choice.

Where is car talk when you need it? One couple with front sonar problems made a video. Try this on the toll road. Beyond that you will need to figure what works correctly...

Neither situation involved much snow, but both were followed by 16* temps in early November and late May. Melting snow on the roads turned to ice. The Transforce HT tires were new so there were no problems. Not so new now. When we lived in Boston, we had dedicated snow tires for our Saab. No reason to go this direction with our NV in AZ, unless we decide to take on winter travel. Too cold for us! Since we travel in spring and fall, we never know what weather extremes we will encounter. I know I have gone back and forth on this, but looking at those and other photos, tells me it is time to do what you and others have done, go with AT tires. This won't do anything for the "mandatory chains" and chainup area signs but at least we will have better traction.

buying used: what to look for?
radin2son replied to David Vincent OfFrance's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
David, How is your search going? Have you seen Bee Line Bikes, a mobile bike shop that started in your area? Assuming they are still In this tough business, they have 37 vans touring the country. Vans of choice are Sprinters and Transits. Nice set up, but more than you need to transport bikes and do bike fits. Are you familiar with www.theradavist.com a great site for all things bike. -
Am I the only one to have to sign a "Tire Chain Disclosure" form? It states "As equipped, this vehicle may not be operated with tire chains..." It then states, see the owners manual for tire traction devices NVs can accommodate. When I signed this form at Dublin Nissan near San Francisco, I scoffed at the need for chains anyway. Little did we know that one month later we would be caught in an early snow stom in Arches. Since then we have been caught in snow in the Yukon and noticed all the chain up areas in the west.

I may have said this before; you can spend every vacation in Utah and never see it all. We like St George and Cedar City. Sometime in the future is a short trip Puebloan Ancestral sites in that area and futher up I-15. Next up is a trip to the area around Telluride, CO. Between weather and medical stuff, mine, we have had to delay this trip. No global trips for us.

In our NV the drive side window is mostly obstructed but it does provide cross ventilation for the lower area. There will be times when this and the window on the other side are the only ones you can keep open. Your roof top fan also has to draw air from somewhere...

Intresting placement of cabinets on both sides (no windows?). I've never see cabinets set high across the rear doors (no windows?) like that. Unlike other high top vans, NVs seem to have the same size windows for both models, so this is a good use of space for a least a single level of cabinets. When you get your bed platform in, will you have sufficient space to reach in from the back? Or do your plans envisage rarely using the rear doors except to get to storage under the bed platform?

That's why we need to post photos and descriptions of the areas. Bamps, when start taking your NV out, post... There are some professional photographers on this forum; none have been critical of our smart phone photos. KMG, I know you read Overland. The current issue's articles on Big Bend National Park (don't miss the state park) and the Gila Wilderness should get you to point your NV in this direction. Although I wouldn't want another VW the 2x4 Vanagon redo and trip was impressive. Wonder who will be the first to take their NV around the world? The first thing needed is a range of 600 miles... Anything else?

Thought it might be CA or AZ from your yucca or Joshua tree photo. Where did you find your NV? I've said this before, but if we did this over again we would go with the current Frontier 4x4 with roof/bed top tent system. We see a lot of Frontiers here. Since you are on the Frontier forum, has there been any mention of problems with the cam shaft sensor? Mc2guy had a V8 with this problem and there were 2 V6 NVs with the "same problem" on the lot of the dealer where he was towed. I looked at the Titan forum and there was a problem, rough idling, difficult to start, with older models. The problem went away with a new sensor. Mc2guy had another problem with his NV and sold/traded it for a Ford 150. -
www.trucktrend.com has just posted a Ford sponsored video for the Transit Passenger Wagon. Vicarious shopping for some or just curiosity? 15.5 mpg per the new owners or 14 city/18 hwy/16 combined per Ford.

Welcome. Blank canvas! Keep the weight down and you may rival Axulsuv's mpg. -
The key question for us has always been where to store it, then how to get to it and where to dump it. The composting cartridge one, described in another thread, sounds promising in that it can be used sparingly and still function over long periods. A similar problem is trash disposal, as in none, where you have to carry it out. There are canvas bags that strap to rear door mounted spare tires but to my knowledge no one has done this to their NV.
