  1. I was going to mount it there. But I tend to prefer sitting quite close to the wheel, with my knees just off the lower panel, and I feared knocking it with my knee a lot upon entry and exit. So I mounted it all the way to the right, right where the dash meets the center console. Never in the way for me. I actually hung it with some industrial Velcro instead of drilling..... So far it seems to be working fine. I'm a little worried about the summer months when the cab gets super hot tho.....
  2. The beer sounds yummy! We do also have pecans, but we are only in the mall with our kiosk Nov.-early January. Next winter!
  3. Very good points. I couldn't agree more about the tow ratings for all the domestic pickups being seriously inflated for bragging rights. Granted, most of the max ratings are for 5th wheel trailers, but still.... Anyone who desires to pull 32,000 pounds with a 6,000 pound HD pickup has bigger balls than me. I read somehwere a bit ago (pickuptrucks.com maybe?) that the 2013 F-150 is rated to tow more than the 2004 F-450. Crazy....
  4. NV is better as a tow vehicle than an F-150? Awesome to hear. Surprises me, but makes me love the NV that much more!
  5. Welcome and congrats! After silver, that blue was my my favorite color! Glad you made it back safe!
  6. Compared to my brothers E-350, the NV has absolutely massive brakes, steering components, fully boxed frame, and more fluid coolers. But he pulls with the E series just fine.... So that tells you the potential of the NV. Throw a hitch on that baby and get camping!;)
  7. On our recent trip to Florida, I was amazed at how many more NV's I saw in all of the southern states, versus Michigan. I maybe see 5 a week up here..... Down south I bet I saw 50 a week.
  8. Wow, that surprises me. How fun to watch the market decisions in action!
  9. No worries whatsoever. There are lots of members on this forum with stories of pulling much larger loads with no issues. Recently there was a member asking about pulling a Keystone Passport (that was the title of the thread I believe), with lots of discussion about pulling a very similar load to the one you are considering. Check it out, and happy NV'ing!
  10. Congrats! I doubt you'll have regrets! What part of the country are you joining us from?
  11. Man, I'd say that's really dirty for that amount of miles. You do a lot of dirt road stuff? I would expect it to be a little gray maybe, not blackish....
  12. I'm just curious.... Who is "staff"?? Is it someone at Nissan corporate? Someone else from this forum who acts as a moderator? The spooky guy from down the street who never leaves his computer?
  13. I've pulled trailers hundreds of times, and I don't fully understand the sway issue. Other than wind causing brief, minimal sway, isn't it basically a non-issue unless a trailer is mis-loaded and actually heavier in the rear than the front. Therefore pulling up on the tow vehicle? I may be totally wrong, that's just been my understanding....
  14. Wow, sounds wierd. Have u changed ANYTHING? Radio, driving lights, bulbs, anything?? My nv acted horribly, but always started, after I changed the center high mount stop light with an led bulb. Your issue sounds similar but worse. My uneducated guess is that something is making the ecu angry.
  15. Same as Mc2guy, mine on high is too warm after the initial warmup. I switch to low after about 10 minutes. Let us know what the issue is when you know.
  16. Wheelies?? Cornering on 2 wheels? Flipping a switch behind the glovebox that raises the mpgs to 40+?? Can't wait!!
  17. The euro-style will probably dominate the American van sector from now on, I'd guess. I'm interested what GM does when it's time to replace their vans.... Whether they stick with their current formula or join the euro club. Either way, Nissan should see decent interest in the NV for a long time to come, hopefully. The euros are a great package for their intended purpose, but I'd think there will be a chunk of buyers who want a full framed, van bodied, pickup-nosed (for serviceability), van capable of towing for a long time yet....
  18. Bahahaha! Love the seat covers! Looks like you're taking your front seat out for a fancy dinner and a movie!
  19. Agreed, other than air pressure, I can't imagine what it would be. Let us know what you figure out:(
  20. Flips805, We just use the standard WD hitch, with the straight style spring bars. Maybe there are other styles or variances I'm not aware of? We hook them to an AirSafe air bag hitch, but that's only for comfort and to take the shock off the puller and trailer, not really for safety I'd say. We've pulled the big airstream with everything from our modded school bus, to our Freighliner Sportchassis, to Ford HD diesels. The lightest vehicle to pull it was a 2004 Ford Econoline 350. I didn't drive it, but I know that was through some mountainous freeways, and my oldest brother ( his van) didn't enjoy it much. But his van is also shorter and lighter than the NV, has the ancient 5.4l motor, 4 speed tranny, no tranny cooler, and based off a platform from the 80's. So it's a real hard comparison to make I'd think. I'll pull the airstream with the NV at some point, but maybe not for a year or two. I forget the exact weight of the Airstream, but like Tatunka said, most trailers these days are built as light as possible, whereas a mid 80's Airstream is an absolute pig when it comes to weight.
